Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled

Chapter 346

Chapter 346

After a moment of silence on the other end, an uncomfortable voice said, “Mr. Whitmore was calling your name. I don’t think Bonnie showing up would do any good.”

That statement hit me like a ton of bricks. My mood, which had been gloomy as hell, seemed to lift a bit.

Unbelievable. I was so easily pacified. His assistant said one sentence, and my mood lightened.

“You’re overthinking. I have nothing to do with him now. Bonnie is his girlfriend; you should go find her and not bother me.” Although I felt better, I still spoke sharply.

The assistant continued pleading awkwardly, “Ms. Finch, please come over. If not, Mr. Whitmore is going to spend the night at the bar, and it’s going to be a mess.”

“Nope.” I replied.

Suddenly, there was a scream on the other end, “Mr. Whitmore!”

My heart jumped, and then there was a loud crashing noise, even drowning out the background music.

The assistant’s voice rang out anxiously, “Ms. Finch, please come over quickly. Mr. Whitmore somehow got into a fight. He’s hurt!” “This old trick again? He used to fool me with it. Nobody can beat him in a fight.” I was a bit worried, but remembering that Neil had used that trick before, I calmed down immediately.

The assistant was about to cry, “No, it’s not like that this time; please come and see. He mistook someone else’s girlfriend for you!”

That really threw me for a loop.

Was Neil drunk, or was he out of his mind?

After hesitating a bit, I drove to the bar to find Neil, who was mistaking another woman for his girlfriend. When I arrived, Neil was bleeding from his forehead, and his assistant looked helpless. There was also a couple standing by them, and the guy looked pissed as hell.

“Ms. Finch, thank God you’re here. Please take Mr. Whitmore to the hospital!” The assistant said urgently.

“He’s been beaten up so badly; doesn’t he know to call an ambulance?” I frowned.

“Mr. Whitmore won’t let me!” The assistant seemed to be at his wit’s end, only managing to say that simple sentence.

I knew Neil was as stubborn as a mule, but that time, after hearing the whole story, I was speechless. Not only did he mistake someone for me, but he also got beaten up by that person’s boyfriend, and he casually asked the guy to finish him off, as if he were invincible.

The guy who hit Neil turned to me and said, “You must pay for your boyfriend’s actions. Emotional distress!”

“He’s not my boyfriend.” I replied unhappily.

“Then why are you here?” The guy retorted, “Aren’t you Irene? He’s been yelling ‘Irene’ all night. Isn’t that you?”

I was taken aback. Yes, that was me, but how could I admit it?Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

The woman next to the guy then spoke up, her voice sweet as honey, “Oh, come on, this handsome guy just got a bit tipsy and mistook me for Irene. Let’s not be so hard on him. Let’s just be friends.”

Her seductive eyes were full of interest in Neil, as if she were hoping Neil would mistake her for me.

Just as I was about to say something, Neil suddenly reached out and grabbed my hand. His eyes were blurred, and there was blood on his face, which was quite startling. He looked at me and said, “I said she was my wife. I wasn’t wrong, was I?”

I wanted to scream. I was furious with his behavior.

“Yes, yes, Mr. Whitmore, Ms. Finch wants you to go to the hospital!” The assistant, who genuinely cared about his boss, quickly chimed

Neil smirked, “Fine, let’s go.”

He tried to stand up, but due to being drunk and injured, he staggered and ended up using me for support. I nearly fell over.

“Can you stop using these cliché tactics? What’s the point of hurting yourself?” I snapped.

“No point? Didn’t it bring you here?” Neil’s tone was light, with a trace of amusement. He didn’t seem drunk at all.

I was speechless. Neil’s audacity shocked me time and time again.

When I was trying to help Neil out, the guy came over again and said, “You have to pay. You think you can just walk away? No way!”

Before he could finish, he lunged at Neil, apparently feeling justified.

Previously, Neil let him hit him, which gave him false confidence.

But Neil, once he got what he wanted, had no mercy. He lifted his leg and kicked the guy hard. Then there was the sound of the guy falling.

“Your girlfriend was the one who hit on me, got it? Idiot.” Neil’s cold eyes stared at the woman mercilessly.

The woman looked at him in horror, obviously not expecting the situation to turn so awkward so quickly.

I didn’t want to stay there any longer and cause more trouble, so I signaled for the assistant to help me get Neil out of there.

The assistant tried to support Neil’s other arm, but Neil glanced at him, and the assistant immediately let go, looking terrified.

“Neil, are you nuts? I can’t hold you up by myself!” I yelled at him angrily.

“I can walk.” Hearing me swear, Neil became a bit more cooperative. He gave up pretending to be drunk and steadied himself, walking side by side with me.

I felt a mix of anger and amusement, but I couldn’t deny that there was also a bit of joy in my heart.

After leaving the bar, I told the assistant to go home, and I drove Neil to the hospital.

Neil sat in the passenger seat while I drove in silence.

“I threw that flower away. I didn’t pay much attention to it.” Halfway there, Neil suddenly started explaining, “Most of those photos are fake. I never took her to Grandeur Oaks Estates. I never liked her. You should trust me.”

I kept my face stern and focused on driving.

Neil was resting with his eyes shut, but his yammering didn’t cease. “If you’re pissed at me, just spit it out. We’ve been giving each other the cold shoulder for two months now. Time to call it quits, eh?”

“You never made an effort to reach out either. What’s this ‘call it quits’ crap?” His words riled me up again just when I thought I’d cooled down.

Sometimes, Neil could really get on my nerves.

Neil slowly opened his eyes and looked at me, then cracked a smile. “Guess I put my foot in it again. But I’m trying to learn how to love you and how to make you happy. I’m bound to screw up along the way. Don’t I deserve a chance to make things right? Why are you so hard on me?”
