Chapter 90
After Sabrina returned home, she saw Shannon's message that Nelson needed two days to mull it over.
Reading this message, she felt grateful toward her mother-in-law.
Shannon did her best to support Sabrina's decision to divorce, just like when she was desperate to marry Nelson.
"Thank you, Shannon," Sabrina said.
Shannon replied immediately, "You're welcome, Sabrina."
Sabrina smiled as she saw the message.
Shannon meant it when she said that even if Sabrina couldn't be her daughter-in-law, she would still treat her like a family.
That night, Sabrina had trouble sleeping.
She felt that Nelson would agree to the divorce this time.
After all, with Shannon getting involved in this matter, there was no reason not to sign the papers.
He never truly loved her anyway.
He wouldn't have protected Pamela so much if he had even the slightest bit of affection for her.
At the thought of this, Sabrina calmed down. Either she was extremely disappointed in him, or she had moved on.
Although Nelson didn't like her, someone else did.
Gerlad treated her like she was a gem.
She decided that after the divorce, she wanted to have a serious relationship with him.
She felt that two days would pass quickly.
However, the next evening, something happened.
Abigail invited Sabrina for dinner.
"The emerald pedant you asked me to keep an eye on was posted online by an emerald shop owner," Abigail said.
This news surprised Sabrina.
She was determined to find the emerald pendant because it was a token of love from Nelson. She thought finding it would help rekindle their feelings.
But now, her desire to find it had nothing to do with him.
After all, possessions she thought were lost in the fire were resurfacing one by one.
Her father's brooch was perfectly intact, proving it was taken before the fire. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She wondered if the emerald pendant might've been taken as well.
"Try to buy it. I want to see if there are any signs of damage on it," Sabrina said.
Sabrina suspected Pamela and felt that she was involved. She wouldn't have known so much about her father's belongings if she were an outsider.
"You suspect someone else was involved in Mr. Wyatt's death?" Abigail asked.
"Yes," Sabrina responded.
Her intuition told her that Pamela was involved, though she had no evidence.
But she hoped it wasn't Pamela. If it were, Nelson would protect her no matter what.
Sabrina didn't want to be entangled with them anymore.
Of course, she could also be overthinking about it.
During dinner, Abigail grew furious as she heard about Nelson's decision.
He had pretended to be so affectionate with Sabrina back in Dewhurst in front of her.
"Hurry up and divorce him. He's a disgusting jerk!" Abigail scoffed.
When she knew that Gerald had broken Pamela's leg, her respect for him increased greatly.
"Fortunately, there's Gerald. We must invite him to dinner, " She said, dialing his number.
Sabrina was left speechless.
"Once you're divorced, you can be with him. He'll definitely treat you like a princess," Abigail said.
However, she couldn't reach Gerald. "I just praised him, and now he's missing."
"He's quite busy," Sabrina said.
Abigail hummed in agreement.
After dinner, she tried calling again, but his phone was still off.
At this moment, a sense of foreboding came over Sabrina.
She tried to call Gerald as well, but he didn't answer.
As she was wondering what was happening, Eva called and said that he had been taken away by the police in the afternoon.
Sabrina's breath hitched. "What happened?"
"I just went to the hospital, and the security there said that someone bought the surveillance footage with a large sum of money…"
Upon hearing this, Sabrina sighed. She couldn't just stand by since this was related to her.
She drove to the hospital.
Pamela's leg was in a cast, her face still bore the marks Sabrina had left, and she looked sickly, not as beautiful as before.
She glared at Sabrina with hatred.
"Someone is protecting you. But someone is protecting me, too. You spent a lot to buy the surveillance footage, but someone else spent more to buy it back!"
Could that someone be Nelson? Who else would have that kind of money if it wasn't him?
On the way there, Sabrina asked Eva if Nelson was behind this.
Eva said she was investigating it, but who else could it have been if it wasn't him?
"What will it take for you to drop the charges?" Sabrina asked.
"I won't drop the charges. Gerald has caused me an intentional injury by breaking my legs. I want him in jail. Even if you beg me, I won't forgive him," Pamela said hatefully.
She then arrogantly added, "Sabrina, your husband is ultimately on my side. You are a total failure."
Sabrina didn't want to waste more time talking to her, but she knew she needed to speak with Nelson.
She needed Gerald to be okay.
