Chapter 642
"You're a doctor. You should know all about..." Morris said.
"Ouch." Before Morris could finish his sentence, Cherise let out a loud cry. Her brows furrowed slightly.
Morris looked at her, startled. "What's wrong? What's wrong, Cherise? Are you not feeling well? Why did you scream so suddenly?"
"Since you're a doctor, check yourself. Hurry up. Let's call back the doctor from the Betrico Hospital, who did your prenatal checkup last time. Get the car ready, Leo." Morris was so nervous that he started shouting for Leo to get the car ready.
Cherise wanted to talk, but Morris was so anxious that she couldn't get a word in. Unable to bear it any longer, she finally burst into laughter, which eased Morris's tension.
He visibly relaxed, stood up, and then sat back down on the sofa. He pulled Cherise into his arms.
Cherise wrapped her arms around him. "Mr. Chivers, it's just that the baby kicked me a few times while you were talking. It kicked hard this time, something I've never felt before, so I screamed."
Morris's head was resting on Cherise's shoulder. He touched her belly again, a bit reproachfully. "I think this little one is a boy. He's fighting for you. Girls wouldn't do that."
Cherise laughed, "It's just a coincidence. But it doesn't matter. A healthy and safe baby is all that matters. If we have a boy like you, that would be great."
"As for what you mentioned earlier, we can consider it. It's safe in the middle of the pregnancy. We can try it when we get home tonight," she said with a shy expression.
"Really?" Morris was overjoyed to hear Cherise say this. For months, he barely got intimate with Cherise. He missed the feeling of being with Cherise so much. His face was beaming with happiness. He took Cherise's hand and got up, eager to go home.
Spring went and autumn came. Before they knew it, another year was almost over. The past few months had been uneventful yet full of fun. Overall, things had been peaceful and smooth.
As the due date approached, Cherise's belly was almost ready to give birth.
Everyone was busy preparing for the New Year, and the Chivers Group was no different. Employees from the sales, business, finance, technology, and administrative departments were all working hard to finish their tasks before heading home for the holiday. The executive office was no exception.
From 9 a.m., when Morris and the three assistants, Steven, Leo, and Hugh, entered the office, they hadn't left until 3 p.m. Except for Hugh, who had brought in some fast food at noon, no one had stepped out.
The large "Do Not Disturb" sign at the door made many managers who came to report hesitate to go in. No one knew what they were doing. This situation was quite rare.
Inside, they were indeed busy, but in a different way. In addition to Morris, who was sitting in the executive chair, the other three were sitting on the sofa.
However, the three of them shared one thing in common with Morris: each had a dictionary in hand. Morris, sitting in the executive chair, held a dictionary and looked serious. His brow was furrowed, a look he'd had since they entered the office that morning.
On his desk was an A4 sheet of paper, filled with names, divided into sections for girls and boys, and for nicknames and full names. The same went for Steven, Leo, and Hugh, each with an identical sheet in front of them.
After a while, Morris closed his eyes, shook his head, and opened them again. "Have you guys decided? Tell me your top choices. Cherise said the due date is around the Christmas. We need to hurry up."
Leo rubbed his eyes and his back, then stood up. "Man, this is harder than my SATS. I'm about to memorize this dictionary. Mr. Chivers, I've been rejected seven hundred times already. It all comes down to these last two."
"Start with the nicknames," Morris said. "No, never mind. Just tell me."
"Girl: Little Cherise. Boy: Little Morris," Leo said.
Morris's face visibly fell. He didn't want to talk to Leo anymore and called out, "Next."
Hugh stood up. "Mr. Chivers, these are the six hundred thirty-sixth and six hundred thirty-seventh names I came up with today. My mom said kids should have simple nicknames. So, for the girl, Bean. For the boy, Peanut. The names have great meaning, right?"
"Next," Morris said.noveldrama
Steven immediately pleaded, "Mr. Chivers, I'm not smart enough. I really can't think of any. Let's ask Cherise' master, Carson. He's
knowledgeable. Or maybe Mrs net
Phoebe Chivers. He'd be happy to help. Spare us, okay? It's too hard."
Morris massaged his temples. Ever since he and Cherise divided the tasks of choosing nicknames and full names, he'd been in a constant state of indecision.
"Never mind today," he said. "I can't think of anything good anyway. Let's put the nickname issue aside for now. It's as important as the full named 'll leave it to Cherise. Focus on Chivers Group's affairs and ready for the New Year."

A few days later, though Chivers Residence in Betrico was halfway up Azure Peak, the sounds of fireworks and firecrackers from the foot of the mountain filled the air with joy. It was New Year's Eve again.
In her last trimester, Cherise was easily awakened by the slightest noise. Although she still moved gracefully, she was more careful when turning over in bed.
"Cherise, did the noise wake you up?" Morris asked lazily as he opened his eyes when she turned over.
Cherise made a sleepy sound. "Yeah, it's lively outside. Another Christmas. Merry Christmas, Mr. Chivers."
Morris squinted at the window, then buried his head in Cherise's neck. "Yeah, my Cherise, Merry Christmas."
They were close together when the baby kicked fiercely. They looked at each other and placed their hands on her belly.
Morris leaned down and said, "What's up, little one? Want to come out already? If you do, be considerate and don't make your mom suffer too much."
Cherise laughed at Morris's words early in the morning, "Can the baby even hear us?"
"Of course. He's my kid," Morris said.
What do you think?
