“Colton, we can’t afford to waste this rare opportunity, especially with your mother’s condition worsening. I’m ready to do whatever it takes for the Stevens family. I just hope you can forgive me,” she implored.

Her earnest plea only stirred more turmoil within Colton. Was Melany’s long-standing pursuit driven by love, or was it merely a strategic move, even claiming Allison’s achievements as her own? So, Colton responded, his face unreadable, “Alright, let’s go check it out.”

After selecting their outfits, Melany and Colton wasted no time dressing up and heading to the White Stallion Club.

“I’ve got everything under control, Colton,” Melany assured him with a confident smile. “I snagged an agent online and shelled out ten thousand for our tickets. We’re golden for entry.”

Colton, however, remained indifferent and kept his distance. He even slipped away to grab a bottle of water nearby.

Just when Melany thought her day couldn’t possibly spiral further, the moment she picked up the tickets, the agent threw a curveball.

“Keep clear of the main area later,” the agent instructed, his tone shifting. “Your tickets are only good for the front hall. Hang by the outside tables.”

Melany’s eyes widened in shock. “That wasn’t part of our chat online. I paid ten thousand dollars!”

The agent’s patience wore thin. “Not happy? Hand the tickets back for a refund. But I doubt you want to leave here with your tail between your legs.”

Seething, Melany bit back. “You’ll regret this charade!” The agent merely shrugged, indifferent. “Go ahead. I’m here for the money, nothing more.”

Thankfully, Colton was out of earshot during the exchange. Melany knew that she had to regroup and keep a calm front.

“The agent threw in a last-minute twist — today’s banquet is more like a family gathering,” she explained to Colton, masking her frustration. “Only insiders get beyond this point, but we’ll have a blast here in the outer area.”
