Tania added, “The York family hasn't had a daughter for generations. If we get a baby girl, we'll shower her with love. I hope she can live a carefree life and do whatever she likes. I don't wish to place a heavy burden on her.

"She'll have many brothers to take up those responsibilities in her stead. I can guarantee that she'll never have to lift a finger."

After thinking about it, Serenity smiled. "You're right. I guess, in this sense, it's better to have a son shoulder the burden of the heir."

She was satisfied after knowing Tania's opinion.

Serenity did not want her daughter to bear the heavy responsibility either.

Well, she would have to give birth to a daughter before thinking about that.

Sonny kept saying that the baby in her womb was his little brother. Her instincts told her Sonny was right too.

Even if she would come to have both sons and daughters, the daughter would probably only arrive at her second or third pregnancy.

"Is Dad not home?" Serenity asked when she did not see Liam in the house.

Tania replied, "He probably went to Martin's place. He rarely goes out if I don't. He's becoming a grandfather, yet he's still as clingy to me as he was back then."

Serenity laughed. "Dad is still deeply in love with you even after decades. It's really enviable. I'd call this subtle bragging, Mom.

"I'll be overjoyed and even laugh in my sleep if Zachary treats me like he does right now when I'm your age."

Before Tania could defend her son, Zachary said, “I'll definitely inherit my mom and dad's excellent genes, honey. Their relationship is still going strong after decades. We'll surely be like that too."

Tania grinned. "You don't have to worry about this. The York men are the best at being loyal to their family and marriage. They'll love their wives forever."

On the other hand, some of her friends chose to look the other way even though their husbands had mistresses.

They could accept it as long as no illegitimate children would take a cut of their children's inheritance in the future.

If an illegitimate child existed, the wife would join hands with her children and think of a way to gradually transfer the assets to themselves.

Otherwise, they would force their husbands to establish a will that would prevent any assets from going to the illegitimate children.

Anyway, there was no telling what would happen.

Some women had sacrificed their youth and endured hardships alongside their husbands for decades. When they finally became rich, their husbands would think their wives were old and had affairs. It was infuriating.

Many of those wives ended up getting health issues due to anger.

All of them were jealous of Tania. To be more specific, all of the women who got married to the York men were enviable.

There was a family rule stating the men in the family had to spend the rest of their lives with their wives. They were not allowed to get a divorce or cheat on their wives. If caught cheating, they would lose all rights to inheritance immediately.

Also, the cheating man would be publicly disowned by the family. He would not be able to exploit the Yorks' reputation.

Aside from having rules, the York family also placed a lot of importance on educating their children.

As Grandma May had mentioned, it was a matter of character.

She had raised her sons and grandsons well. Even if there were no family rules restraining them, they would never be ungrateful or unfaithful bastards.

"Have a seat, Seren. I'll get someone to prepare a nutritious drink for you. You've lost some weight. Other women usually put on weight during their pregnancies, but you've lost weight instead. You promised you'd take good care of Seren, Zachary. Look at you. You're about to have a pot belly while my daughter-in-law is losing weight. You must've taken all her supplements."

"How do I have a pot belly, Mom?"

His mother could say whatever she liked about him except that he had put on weight.
