Audrey and Serenity exchanged a glance.
"If nobody has any objections, Seren and I can rest assured, then. It wasn't easy for Liberty and Duncan to come this far and we should support them no matter their choices." Audrey smiled and added, "I heard from Liberty that she'll be registering her marriage with Duncan first, maybe before Christmas, maybe after. She's just so busy, she'll only be able to get back on Christmas Day itself. She's got no time for anything else when she's swarmed. Even Sonny isn't going to visit her for his winter break. He said he wanted to visit FC Manor instead."
Corey laughed. "I know. I was even thinking of Sonny staying with me during the winter break so that Seren could go to work undisturbed. The closer it gets to the holidays, the busier it gets. Seren's vegetable farms must provide huge amounts of fresh produce every day, don't they?"
Serenity hummed in agreement. "We're almost unable to keep up with the demand."
"That's a good thing! It means your business is doing well and you guys can invest in something else too."
"We are."
Corey nodded. "With Zachary around, we don't have to worry at all."
Serenity had Zachary to help keep an eye out and advise whenever she wanted to invest in something new. Even if Zachary alone could not come to a conclusion, Old Mrs. York and the whole host of other elders were around to offer advice.
Corey felt that the more stable Serenity's position in the York family was, the more beneficial it was for Liberty. Liberty was going to be her youngest daughter-in-law and more than anyone else, she hoped that Liberty and Serenity would do well.
"Audrey, did you find a key witness?" Corey suddenly asked Audrey in a low voice.
She did not think Audrey would want to discuss Duncan and Liberty's future out of nowhere. There had to have been some developments. It was possible that the truth would very soon be revealed and the time for Liberty and Caroline to face off once and for all would come soon. That was the only reason Audrey and Serenity would worry that the Lewises would object to Duncan marrying into the Fisher family and had come to ask their opinion on it beforehand.
Audrey smiled. "Nothing gets past you, Corey. We've managed to find my mother's assistant. He has some evidence and he had seen what happened back then, so he's quite a strong witness. The other old-timers can be witnesses too. After Uncle True gets another two days of rest and we've retrieved the evidence he kept hidden, we'll leave for Jensburg together."
At this, Audrey's gaze turned abnormally cold and her expression was dead serious.
"I'll never forgive her for harming my whole family, even if she's my biological aunt! I'm going to take back everything she stole!"
Corey assured, "Feel free to just ask if you need our help. Don't stand on courtesy with us. Liberty's problems are our problems too."
"I'll definitely, shamelessly beg you for help when I need it. Don't you dare ignore us then, Corey."
Corey laughed. "Now that's more like it, sister!"
Belatedly, she then cottoned on to the implications of Audrey's words, who then updated her about the latest happenings in a whisper.
Both Corey's and Derek's eyes were bright with excitement as Corey immediately said, "It's not too late for us to leave for Wildridge Manor now, is it? Old Mrs. York is being kind of stingy, isn't she? She didn't even tell us about this. No matter
how you put it, we're prettatter
much
family now.
"You too, Audrey! Why didn't you tell us about something so important earlier?"
Audrey laughed. "This only just happened yesterday, it hasn't sunk in yet. Old Mrs. York only just picked them up this morning, so the elders are probably staying in Wiltspoon for at least another three to five days. You'll still be in time if you leave for Wildridge Manor now. Seren and I will be heading there later too."
She had just arranged to meet Corey first. She took a few sips of her coffee before saying with a smile, "So what are we waiting for? Let's get going."
“Seren, are you hungry? Why don't you have something to eat first? We'll wait for you."
Serenity replied, "I had breakfast at my aunt's place." Still, she took two tidbits to eat. "Just two pieces will do. Khave snacks in the car, too. I won't go hungry."
She had always been a foodie and liked keeping snacks in the car.
