Welcome to the party
Welcome to the party
The Stones residence's parking lot, was filled to the brim, with cars of various sorts. The cars were all
luxurious. Reporters were outside, as they clicked their shutters trying to capture pictures of the people
who were arriving.
It was the party of the Stones themselves! Few days ago, invites were sent out to the various rich
people in Washington DC.
And so, of everyone present at the party, no one was mediocre. Everyone had a high social status.
.........
The hall was spacious and beautifully illuminated by the chandeliers hanging above the ceiling.
Tables were arranged elegantly, and the guests sat chatting with each other.
The Stones were seated at a wide table, as they watched the bustle. Henry was with them. He looked
at the entrance, where Quinn was to enter from when the time was right.
He was dressed in a black suit, paired with black trousers. His favorite color had always been black.
The cream bowtie on his neck, was specially chosen to match Quinn's cream dress. He sipped away at
his wine to hide his impatience.
Soon, Sylvester stood up, and held the microphone,
"Wonderful guests, a very good evening to you all. I hope you are enjoying the party?" He paused and
swept his gaze around the room.
Then he cleared his throat and continued,
"I'm sure all of you must be wondering why we invited all of you to a random party as this.... It's very
unusual you know. However, I won't waste much of your time." He smiled as he paused for effect.
"The reason why you all were invited to this party, was to announce two things. Firstly, our daughter's
marriage, and secondly, our daughter's identity." He nodded as he looked at their confused expression.
"What is he saying? What identity do we need to know?" Other guests whispered amongst themselves.
"Silence please! As I said, we wanted to announce our daughter's identity. So, ladies and gentlemen, I
would like us to welcome our heiress; Michelle Stone. Everywhere went dark, and a light shone at the
entrance.
A lady stepped inside, and as she made her way towards where the Stones were seated, the lights
accompanied her.
"Michelle Stone? Isn't that the heiress who disappeared?"
"What Michelle Stone? They are probably pulling our legs."
"Hush, I'm sure you wouldn't want to offend the Stones, right?"
The lights came on again, and the guests were greeted with the appearance of a new person,
Quinn!
"Wait, isn't that the Stones foster daughter? What games are they playing?" A man who was seated at
a table turned and asked his friend.
"Hush, you wouldn't want to offend the Stones, would you?" His friend whispered.
"What is there to fear?! I'm only saying the truth." He shouted.
However, he wasn't aware that other guests turned, and were now looking at him.
He continued speaking,
"First, they announce that Miss Quinn is their foster daughter. And now, they say she is Michelle Stone.
Do they miss their daughter so much?!" He yelled.
He was surprised by the sudden quiet in the hall. He turned to see the guests looking at him. Some of
them were shaking their heads, while some looked at him with pity in their eyes.
He cleared his throat nervously, and sipped his wine as if he said nothing.
Unfortunately, the Stones had heard everything he had said clearly. Raphael narrowed his eyes,
"Would Mr Walton like to repeat what he just said?" Raphael's voice was calm, however the guests
could tell that he was angered.
"I....I said nothing." Mt Walton stammered.
"I see.... It seems the Walton's Corporation wants to go on a vacation. Guards! Escort him out."
Raphael ordered coldly.
Mr Walton pleaded for mercy as he was led out of the hall,
"I'm sorry, Patriarch Raphael... I'm sorry!!!"
After that, the hall became silent. No one could say a word. After all, they had seen how Walton's
Corporation was on it's way to going bankrupt. The Stones didn't make empty threats.
They all looked at the young lady who was all smiles as she looked at the guests.
As her father was about to continue speaking, she interrupted him,
"Let me."
Sylvester nodded and handed the microphone over to her.
Quinn accepted it with a smile.
"A pleasant evening to all of you. I'm Michelle Stone."
Her words ignited another round of whispers among the guests. They were only suspicious at first, but
she had finally confirmed their suspicion.
"We had reasons for hiding the truth, earlier on. That led to me being introduced as a foster
daughter..... I believe we aren't obligated to tell you the reasons behind our actions, are we?" Quinn
smiled at them.
Although she was smiling, to the guests, she looked creepy instead. How could a lady's smile look that
dangerous?
"I wouldn't tolerate anyone looking down on me. I am a Stone, and I hope you treat me as one. That
would be all." She nodded at them, and calmly handed the microphone over to her father.
The guests remained stunned after her words... If they were doubtful at first, her dominant attitude had
cleared all traces of doubt which they had.
"Well well, she has said it all.... Now, the second reason for this party, as I told you, is to announce our
daughter's marriage.
"This young man over here is officially the son-in-law to the Stones..." He gestured at Henry.
Henry nodded politely at them. He didn't bother to say a word.
"Who is he? I haven't seen him before?" Hushed whispers started amongst the guests again...
"Which family is he from? Is he an heir?" They were confused.
To them, anyone who was the son-in-law to the Stones, had to be on par, or almost on par with them. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
But they hadn't heard of the young man in front of them.
What the guests didn't know was that, the Stones wasn't like those typical rich families.
Their daughter's happiness was their priority. So, even if she brought a security guard, and presented
him as her husband, they would be more than happy to acquiesce to her request...
