Chapter 992

Side Story 2: Paul VS Daryl (3)

It was chilly that day. Daryl couldn't help shrinking into the coat the moment she got out of home. The bleak sky with looming clouds just gave her a hunch that a storm was approaching although weather forecast had said otherwise.novelbin

It did begin raining when the class was going on. It soon became torrential as rain drops were spattering on the window and dripped down with a long dusty mark.

During the break, the coach left more time to the trainees to contact those who could pick them up back home.

The woman beside Daryl was sitting on the yoga mat in a relaxing way, for her husband, the owner of a little company, had hired a driver for her every day.

She asked bluntly when she saw Daryl sitting aside without the least worry too, "How are you going back after the class?"

Daryl answered curtly without unnecessary informaiton, "I guess there will be someone to bring me home on the way.1'

Are you sure?" The woman offered with concern, "I can get my driver to send you home."

Thank you so much! ' Daryl hurried to decline with a wave of her hand, "But I can manage it myself."

Another woman in the front row commented with a smile, 'It's important to have your own car in such a circumstance. Though my husband is in middle management, he insists driving on his own."

Others echoed while showing the brands of their husbands' vehicles smartly, along with affected compliments to one another.

Sitting on her yoga mat, Daryl only watched their performance with dry amusement.

The coached returned for the second half of the class when everyone had arranged their trip home. Someone's cell phone rang at that instant. Everyone exchanged inquiring glances with classmates around.

Daryl, who had been acting with composure just now, had to rise with embarrassment, "Sorry...may I answer it?"

She took the phone from her bag and went to the corner of the room.

"The class is going to end soon?" Paul asked as slowly as usual at the other end of the phone.

But what makes you suddenly remember to call me up?" Daryl retorted as other women were eavesdropping attentively. Daryl had to cover the phone quite uneasily.

"I'm going home from the office now." Paul offered. Shall I pick you up on the way?"

Daryl hastened to reject without thinking, "No calls for that. We've got a driver anyways."

Paula suggested having a meal together." added Paul.

Our driver can take me there." Daryl tried hard to prevent him from appearing in front of her classmates. She just didn't want gossips.

Either the exposure of Paul's identity as the boss of his celebrated company or her classmates' curiosity towards him would only bring her troubles of exchanging pleasantries. She really hated that and only wanted to attend the class without socializing there.

The moment she turned round after hanging off, she met the gaze of several women.

Who's that? Your husband?" one of them asked.

Or your little lover? Just Kidding. Never mind.' another laughed.

It's all right." Daryl went back to her mat. "It's my husband."

'What's he like? Could we see his photo?" the first one ventured.

He sounded quite young." someone added.

Daryl turned them down, waving her hand. "I don't have his photo in my phone.

He hates taking pictures."

Not even your selfie of you two?"

Nope." Daryl refused so flatly that they could only stop enquiring disappointedly.

There were already several men

et

waiting with umbrellas in their hands on the ground floor when the class was over The moment Daryl showed up, she drew the attention of several men waiting for their wives. Her classmates soon found Daryl's driver among those men, who attended to his hostess politely.

Shall we go now?' Daryl told the driver in an equally courteous manner.

Sure." The driver held the umbrella over her, trying to lean towards her while keeping a proper distance. To Daryl's surprise, her car was just

waiting at the gate, where nove

was allowed to park. Her driver must have his smart means to have the janitor twist the rule. At that moment, Daryl only prayed those

women wouldn't catch sight of her car.

She had to accept the fact that her plan was changed, and hurried to get into the car.

Yet she was still spotted by her classmates when she "got into the luxurious limousine without any trace of uneasiness" as they described in surprise.

Her classmates were smart enough

to know that man must only be a

driver. He couldn't be Daryl's family, judging from their interaction. And those women just let their

imagination run away when they remembered how Daryl had tried to keep her conversation on the phone and her husband's appearance secret to them.

It was not rare for these middle-class couples to maintain an open relationship or keep lovers. They thus believed Daryl must be a mistress of the rich, and such a pretty and proud girl just wouldn't let it out to the public.

Those who had been envying Daryl was quite satisfied with that conclusion.

A mistress, however pretty and young you are, is doomed to be replaced by younger ones especially when you've given birth to a child. That's their theory.

Daryl got into the car and to her surprise, Paul was sitting at the back seat.

'Why are you here?" asked she.

Paul looked back into the car. "I'm here to check whether there is any daring man trying to seduce you/

Daryl sneered, "When did I beat you last time? Missing it now?"

She thought she wouldn't refuse the courtship of other men as long as they were outstanding enough, except for the fact that it was really difficult to

find anyone who could surpass Paul. In fact, she didn't even love any film star now simply because her own husband was too handsome.

How's your day in the office?" Daryl pinched his chin.

Paul didn't stop her, only sighed peevishly. "Too bad."

"Any problem in the office?" asked Daryl with concern.

"In the canteen." answered Paul. "I hate the food there."

Daryl glared at him while pitying the chefs working at his canteen. She knew they were quite professional ones. The only problem was Paul was getting more and more particular about food when he'd got used to the meals she made.
