Chapter 272 It All Depends on One’s Effort

“Cut!” After the director shouted, he turned his head to look at the actor, a little helpless.

After giving the actor some simple instructions, he quickly walked toward Susan and tried his best to speak in a very calm tone, “Susan, you’re not quite in the state. Someone you secretly have a crush on just tells you that he has feelings for you. You should be happy since your dream has come true. Right? You should show others that you’re happy.”

“What’s there to be happy about? It’s all just a dream! There’s no such thing as dreams coming true!” Susan snorted and said unhappily.

The director was speechless.

“Director, maybe Susan is just tired. Let’s take a break and let her get some rest, OK?” said the assistant.

“Fine. But we’ve already shot the scene eight times. No more time can be wasted. Be in the right state soon.” The director became a little impatient.

“Sure thing!” The assistant nodded repeatedly, pulled Susan to the side, and handed her water fawningly while carefully weighing her words. The assistant said, “Susan, look, we’re almost done here. We can wrap up soon. It’s not worth it to have any problems at this critical juncture, right? I know you’ve been in a bad mood, but…”

“Who said I’m in a bad mood? I’m not! I can’t be better!” Susan interrupted the assistant and said impatiently.

The assistant tried to be patient. “Alright. Since you’re in a good mood, take out your best and pass it in one go. OK?”

“The plot is unreasonable. I want to change the plot!” Susan glanced at the script.

The assistant was speechless. It was too late to change the plot now. “Susan, I’m not sure if it’s doable: The….”

“Just cut the crap and change it!” Susan suddenly raised her voice, causing many people to look in their direction. Due to her status and identity, they were all whispering, and no one dared to speak loudly.

Susan was very unhappy. She was very upset!

After she left the Palmer’s home that day, only Chester caught up to her. It had been a few days already, yet Simon was still so indifferent. He did not even give her a call. Did he really care that much about that woman?

These days, she was not in the mood for filming. When she thought that he was going to get married, she felt that her world was going to collapse, and nothing could intrigue her.

Susan’s face was gloomy, and the assistant did not dare to speak, afraid that Susan would take it out on her. Suddenly, someone patted the assistant on the shoulder from behind. The assistant turned around and saw a woman. Just as the assistant was about to speak, the woman gestured to her to remain silent. The woman shook her head and motioned her to eat something.

A glass of water was handed to Susan. Susan impatiently waved her hand. “No!”

“Women are made of water. How can you not drink water?” The gentle and familiar voice cheered Susan up, and she turned around. “Ingrid!”

Ingrid smiled as she looked at Susan. Ingrid sat down next to Susan and once again placed the glass in front of her. “Take a sip of water. It will soothe you and calm you down.”

“That won’t work!” Susan pouted, but she still listened to Ingrid. Susan took the glass, placed it next to her lips, and frowned. But she still drank a lot.

“Anyway, treat your body well. What is it? Something is upsetting you?” Ingrid turned her head and asked Susan.

Ingrid seemed to have known everything.

“I don’t want to talk about it!” Susan turned her head to look up at the sky, holding back her tears.

They were on the set. If she cried and got photographed, it would be embarrassing. She did not want that whatsoever.

“Alright. Then we won’t talk about it. When will you finish shooting today?” Ingrid changed the topic and asked.

“It’s going to take a while!” Susan had wasted a lot of time, and she wasn’t in the mood. The filming might be going on for a while. “Why?”

Ingrid stood up, patted her hands, and looked around. “Nothing. I’ll go shopping with you when you’re done.”

“Shopping?” Susan shook her head. “I’m not in the mood for shopping!”

It was said that the best cure for a woman’s pain was shopping. However, the man Susan loved was getting married, and she wasn’t the bride. Nothing could heal her pain.

“Whether you’re in the mood or not, you still have to pick gifts, right?”

“Gifts?” Blinking, Susan was confused.

Seeing how puzzled Susan was, Ingrid shook her head. “The New Year is coming. Have you forgotten that you have to: visit your relatives? At least you should pay the Palmer family a visit, right?”

Susan didn’t say anything.

If Ingrid did not mention it, Susan would have forgotten about it.

Susan would visit the Palmer family each year. Although Simon wasn’t close to the Palmer family, they were still relatives. Susan figured that if she visited them more, she could build a good relationship with them. Gradually, they would accept her. And then Simon would slowly get used to her company and find that she was the right one for him.

His wedding news caught her off guard, and she forgot all about the visit.

“Ah…” She sat up straight, but after thinking about it, she became discouraged again. “Forget it. It’s settled. It doesn’t matter if I visit them or not.”

Holding Susan’s arm, Ingrid softly said, “Don’t talk like that. Weren’t you doing OK a few days ago? Whether it’s settled or not is hard to tell. Until it’s the last minute, how do you know things won’t turn around? Besides, you’ve worked so hard for so many years. Wouldn’t it be a shame to give up now?

“I remember you told me before that Mrs. Palmer likes you a lot. She even said you were a big star, right?” Ingrid gently whispered in Susan’s ear. Each of her words touched Susan’s heartstrings.

Susan thought that Ingrid was her bestie indeed since Ingrid was always so considerate Ingrid was the person who understood her the most.

“Yes, you are right! i have persevered for so many years. I am sure the Palmer family has some influence on him. Even if they can’t change his mind, as long as they can make him waver, I’ll have a

better shot!” Susan stood up and made up her mind. “Let’s go. Wait for me to change. We’ll go and pick the gifts now!”

“Aren’t you still filming?” Ingrid said in surprise. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

“I’m done for today! I’m not in the mood at all. The director won’t give me a pass anyway. When I’m in a better mood, I’ll finish all the scenes within a day!” After Susan finished speaking, she went straight to the locker room. She could be as willful as she wanted since she had a lot of connections.

The assistant finished her meal and came over. She was dumbfounded, “Ms. Petersen…”

“Go and tell the director that Susan is not feeling well. She will take today off. You know what to say!” Ingrid smiler and patted the assistant on the shoulder.

The assistant was speechless. She felt bitter. Being an assistant was so tough! She had to take the blame!

With a smile, Ingrid turned to look in the direction of the locker room. Fate didn’t exist. It all depended on one’s effort!
