Chapter 9 HER
Chapter 9 HER
I was still feeding my heart on the piano music sheets and trying out the keys for the newest piece I
wrote. The pressure was hard since the winter annual ball was on Saturday and I only had two days to
go to practice; it was only Wednesday.
The thoughts of that guy, Ryson, invaded my mind again. He was so mysterious to the eyes with his
stony gazes and strict expressions. It was like he never had any fun or enjoyed anything. But I could
tell that the piano interested him when he saw me play before.
Closing the piano lid after Mrs. Davidson reminded me it was closing time, I grabbed my bag filled with
sheets and a textbook on how to have key control with the steady rhythm that I was studying for the
winter annual and Julliard.
"Have a great evening,” I said to Mrs. Davidson politely, she bid me goodbye and went.
With my baby hairs flailing in every direction because of the wind, I walked slowly wanting to smell the
woodsy scent and the fresh air along seeing the beautiful hue across the ocean beside the forest.
Out of nowhere, a rugged hand was slapped on my mouth to stop me from screaming and a stinky
scent filled the air around me. I tried to bite his palm but he made sure it was clasped tightly on my
mouth, pushing my back against him. My lips trembled and my tears rushed down my cheeks.
"Mom, why do you have to go too soon?" The seven-year-old me said as I held her hand on the
hospital bed.
"Because heaven couldn't wait for me." She smiled and kissed my forehead. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Can I join too?" I asked with a pout.
"No, you will at the end but just at the right time." She smiled.
I'm so sorry mom, I was going to join you now before I made my dreams come true.
"Let her go." The voice of an angel was calling out to save me. Through my blurry vision, I saw the dark
brown curls and the safe amber eyes. I was going to be safe.
"Ah, Ryson Adams, good to see you." My eyes widened in shock. How the hell did he know that cruel
man?
"I'm not going to repeat myself.” Ryson snapped. The wind came faster as my hair was everywhere
around me and came on my eyes.
It all seemed like it was the end, I was done struggling with my tied hands and the fat belly of a man,
my eyes drifted up to the sky.
The man let me go and I struggled to breathe, I didn't have my inhaler and I was freaking out because
of the wrong timing and the huge surprise that Ryson knew this guy. I weakly walked beside Ryson and
squeezed his hand.
"Can't...can't breathe." I stuttered as I choked and closed my eyes. The man strolled away when more
people filled in the lonely streets of Michigan. Ryson was about to jump on the man but my hand
stopped him as my lungs painfully constricted.
Ryson lifted me bridal style as he rushed to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, Michigan medical center was
beside the school so he only had to hold me for two minutes.
"Evange, try to breathe as much as you can." The panic heard in his voice made me smile for a second
because that was the first thing he actually felt. Panic for me.
"You-You....called me Evange." I exhaled heavily as my chest constricted and my eyes drooped.
"Don't talk, we're almost here." He seemed so worried that it sent vibes of hope inside of me. Maybe
we would be...friends.
Who was I kidding? I like him. But we wouldn't happen. All the odds were against us and I wouldn't
want to be the one to change him or break his walls.
I wanted so many things in the world but just by watching his eyes frantically search for the entrance of
the center and the light illuminated his stressed clenched jaw with his curls flapping against the wind as
he wove through the people, I wanted the things with him.
"We're almost there, hold on please.” He strained the last plea and my eyes closed as I tried so hard to
expand the walls of my ribs to attract the oxygen in again. I felt so stupid for not bringing my inhaler but
I hadn't expected that to happen. These things just didn't happen out of the blue in Michigan.
The nurses quickly helped in arranging the emergency stretcher. The distorted expression on his face
stunned me and my eyes couldn't let go of his. There were sparks of fear inside of him that erupted
when he saw me get this way. My asthma didn't occur so often; it was mild. It only ever happened if I
was too stressed or panicked.
"Keep your eyes open for me, Evange." There it was again. That nickname for me. He didn't realize
that it was the first emotion he revealed to me. He pursed his bottom lip with his teeth as he was
running beside me while the stretcher moved fast to get me into the room but all I had ever noticed was
his vulnerable amber eyes.
After a while of getting in the hospital room and being transferred from the stretcher to the bed, I closed
my eyes as they blocked Ryson from getting in and the shouts that came out of his mouth. I was losing
oxygen and I was too tired to keep going so I surrendered to my asthma, knowing that when I wake up
I would see him.
He wasn't so bad anymore; he just felt things differently.
"Open the fucking door." Was the last shout I heard as the darkness enveloped my vision and my body.
