The Billionaire’s Ex-Wife (Her Ex-Husband’s Regret) Chapter 25

Kayden.

“Tara, I swear to God, I will fire you if you don’t do what I say!” threaten my secretary on the phone.

I am sitting in my limousine, telling my driver to just drive. I needed to get out of the hospital before they can catch me. For sure, the nurse has already alerted her security that I left against hospital orders.

“But Sir. Miss Megan will also do everything to have me fired if”

“Megan does not have any power in the company! Now, I’m giving you five minutes to find out which hotel Cassandra King is staying at, or you can collect your severance pay from HR!” I hang up before she can utter another word.

What are you doing?” I ask myself.

her. I just

To be honest, I really don’t know. I don’t why I suddenly want to see Cassie. I don’t even know what I will say to know that… I need a chance. I need to to apologize. I need to do something.. anything to correct my past mistakes!

I wonder if she knows that I was the boy sheyed in the lake. But if she did, why didn’t she say anything?

I hear a beep from my phone. I check it out, relieved to see that it’s Tara and not my lawyers.

King’s Apartment Hotel. Penthouse, I immediately tell the driver where to go.

A few seconds later, I am inside the elevator that will take me to the penthouse unit of King’s Apartment Hotel. My heart- raced with a mix of anticipation and dread.

What would I say to Cassie when I saw her? Would she even want to talk to me? Would she believe me when I tell her that I’m sorry?

As the elevator door slides open, revealing a luxurious hallway adorned with expensive paintings and elegant decor, I take a deep breath and walk towards the living room. Crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling, casting a warm and cozy glow into

the room.

“Kayden?” I hear her call out my name. I close my eyes for a moment. Now, I appreciate the sound of my name on her lips, reminding me again of what I used to have… and had thrown away. “What are you doing here?” The expression on her face is a mixture of confusion and concern.

“Cassie… L… I had to see you.”

“Didn’t you just get out of surgery? How come they discharge you already?”

“… they… didn’t exactly discharge me,” I respond sheepishly.

Cassie’s eyes widen in surprise. “Don’t tell me you left without permission.”

“I… really have to see you.”

“Whatever it is that you want to discuss with me, it can wait,” she says. “I mean… I’m already researching on different strategies that I could use for King’s Legend. Please be rest assured that everything is being handled as we speak…”

Damn! She’s cute!

She really did think that I came here for work.

“I didn’t come here because of King’s Legend. Or any of King’s Court properties.”

She turns to me, raising a quizzing brow. “Then… why are you here? What’s so urgent that you had to leave the hospital against the doctor’s advice?”

Now that she asked me this question. I really do not know what to say.

“1”1 look at her with a sheepish expression on my face, as I raise my hand to scratch the back of my head. “Er…”

Cassie crosses her arms in front of her chest.

“Is this another one of your jokes? Are you playing games with me, Kayden?” she asks. “What is it that you want with me? First you act like you’re interested in me.. like you think that our divorce was a mistake! Then you rescue me from Ethan’s unexpected proposal. What? Do you want me back? Because that.”

“Yes?” I blurt out.

I realize that she just made my confession so much easier for me!

“That’s the most ridicul…” she continues, and then she trails off. That single word that I said finally registers inside her brain. She turns to me, her face white, and her expression blank. “Excuse me, what did you just say?”

Finally! I got her full undivided attention

take a step closer towards her.

“I said yes.”

“Y-yes to what?”

“To all that you just said,” I give her a boyish smile, but deep inside, I’m a nervous wreck. “Yes, I am very interested in you. Yes, I now think that divorcing you was the biggest mistake of my life. And I did rescue from Sullivan’s proposal because saying yes to him would have been the biggest mistake you could make in your life. And yes….” I take another step towards her, leaning closer as I push a lock of stray hair away from her face. “Yes, I do want you back, Cassie. I want to try again. 1 want to do our marriage all over again. And this time, I promise you, I won’t fuck up anymore.”

Cassie stares at me in disbelief, her eyes searching mine for any sign of doubt or insincerity.

“Kayden is this a joke? You can’t just say random things like that” Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“Ssshhh…” I put a finger over her lips, silencing her. I shake my head. “I’m not joking. And what I’m saying aren’t random either. I realized that I have been the biggest asshole in the planet L. was looking for something, and it was right before my eyes the entire time. I was so blind, so stupid to see it!”

I reach out for her hands. I’m so sorry, Cassie. I should have treated you better. I should have treated you right!” I have never cried much before, but right now, I can’t help the tears that are welling up in my eyes. “You were the perfect wife. You treated me well. You tried your best to make me happy.”

Cassie shakes her head, tears rolling down her cheeks. “Don’t do this, Kayden. It’s all in the past now… let’s not open up old wounds. We weren’t right for each other.”

1 reach up to wipe the tears on her cheeks. “But we are! I was the asshole! I failed to acknowledge that. I thought you were a scheming watch and you trapped me in a marriage I didn’t want But I was fucking stupid! I failed to see that what I wanted was just right before my eyes!

Cassie shakes her head, taking a step back. “It’s all in the past now, Kayden. There is nothing that we can do to take it back. There is nothing in the world that binds me to you.”

y arms around her waist. “That cannot be the end of our “No! Please don’t say that!” I snatched her into my arms, snaking my love story. All I’m asking for is a chance. A chance to make it up to you. A chance to make you happy.” I enclosed her in a tight embrace, burying my face in her hair, losing myself in her familiar scent. “Just one chance, love. And I promise to make you the happiest woman in the world.”

She doesn’t say anything. But she doesn’t pull away either. The only sound filling the room are her quiet sobs. I held her tighter, feeling her warmth against me, letting the tears fall freely from my eyes. Time seems to stand frozen as we cling to each other, the weight of our failed marriage, old wounds and past mistakes heavy in the air between us.

But just as the quiet settles around us, a voice shatters the moment.

“Mommy?”

Cassie suddenly pulls away from me, giving me a hard push. Cassie quickly wipes her tears and composes herself before turning around to face the source of the voice. I do the same thing at the exact same moment. I turn around… and seems to have stopped beating altogether.

The child doesn’t take his eyes off me as he proaches Cassie, wrapping his tiny arms around her.

“Who is this man, Mommy?”

my heart

As I gaze back at the child, a nagging emotion creeps inside me. am not sure what it is, but I can feel some tug inside heart. As I stare back into Cassie’s son… it feels like staring back into a mirror.
