The Billionaire’s Hidden Heiress

Chapter 115

Grayson POV

"Timothy, about that Mr Ferryweather," I said biting my lip as I moved files around the desk and opened up my laptop. "Oh him," Timothy said, thinking back "what about him sir? I thought you weren't interested in taking on his case." I frowned "I'm not, but something about it's bothering me. Could you put his file to the side instead of disposing of it? I want to have another look at it. Maybe even check into who he's married to." "Certainly sir but what about this divorce has you so concerned? You've never had a feeling like this before."

"It's a gut feeling," I said frowning "I can't describe it."

He shrugged nonchalantly, not bothered by the request in the slightest. Timothy's cell phone went off and he gave me an apologetic look. I waved a dismissive hand at him "Answer it" I said calmly as he mouthed that it was Rachel "It might be important." He quickly answered and turned his back. "Hey honey," he said as I fought back a grin.

"Hmm, nope that shouldn't be a problem, Okay see you soon" he finished and then hung up, smiling widely.

"Things with you and Rachel are still going well then?" I asked peering at him.

"Extremely well" he confirmed "She's coming to take me to lunch today" he added proudly.

I was happy for him. My mind flashed back to Flair. She had been sick the last few days and I was growing worried about her. I wanted her to see a doctor and she'd been promising she would but had yet to make an appointment with one. Maybe I should do it for her?

"Did she say anything about Flair?" I asked.

He shook his head "But I know she's with her. Maybe she'll come to lunch as well" he said.

Maybe, I thought resigned. I glanced back down at my paperwork. Timothy was humming lightly under his breath. There was a spring in his step now. I chuckled to myself as I began to file some papers and respond to emails. There were no new clients today and the furore over Flair's identity appeared to have died down for now. Or at least I hoped that was the case and that they were chasing something fresh for the newspapers and media.

"Hey sexy man" drawled a voice and we both turned to look at the doorway involuntarily.

Rachel smirked, coming inside, and I was overjoyed to see Flair behind her, holding up bags of takeaway. "Rachel," Timothy said, kissing her on the lips "I thought we were going out for lunch," he said, eyeing Flair and looking slightly disappointed, although too polite to express that out loud.

"We are," Rachel said, glancing over at me while I greeted Flair "Flair and Grayson are staying in" she sang, while Timothy grabbed his coat "So let's get moving" she urged him. Timothy waved a hasty goodbye and then he and Rachel were gone quicker than I could blink let alone say a word.

"Is it me or was she unusually quick to leave?" I asked confused as Flair began to pull out takeout containers and set them up on the desk as I hastily moved files out of the way. "She was just really missing Timothy" She smiled, but it didn't quite reach her eyes.

She was worried about something, I thought studying her, that's why she had come here today.

I inhaled the sweet aroma of the food, my mouth watering. "It smells delicious," I told her gratefully "but you didn't have to bring me lunch. Although it's nice to spend time with you" I added as she gave me a genuine smile "Are you feeling better today?" Why did she look so nervous all of a sudden? "I am," she said, glancing away and then beginning to grab her own container as I took the other "It wasn't anything serious" she added, "nothing to worry about."

She slurped at her noodles. I shook my head and did the same. Unlike Flair's mine had meat and I was grateful for that because I was suddenly ravenously hungry. I devoured mine while Flair delicately nibbled away at hers.

"You didn't have any problems getting here? How are you getting along with the bodyguards?" I asked.

She giggled "One is sitting in the hallway right now having his lunch," she said raising an eyebrow "while another sits in the car in the parking lot eating."

I grinned "And the third?

"At home keeping an eye on Roscoe."

I relaxed. Picked up my soda and took a large swig. "God that's good," I said with feeling.

"How is work today?" she asked, leaning back in her chair.

"Not bad," I said, looking over at the files "mainly paperwork. We managed to get through the clients the other day and evidently, the rest of them got the message that I wasn't tolerating being used to get to you because we don't have any today." "I was nervous about coming" she admitted "I began to have a panic attack when we reached the parking lot. After what happened last time..." she trailed off and immediately I was stricken, reaching across to grab her hand and squeeze it tight. "Flair honey, I wasn't thinking" I murmured, "if it's too much for you..."

She shook her head "No, I have to get through the day like everything is back to normal. I have to be able to come here without having a nervous breakdown" she told me staunchly "and I wanted to spend some quality time with you. I rather like spending time with my husband" she said solemnly.

"I like spending time with you," I said honestly.

In fact her coming here just to have lunch would be the highlight of my day. It was a small gesture but one I appreciated nonetheless. I never got tired of talking to her and she broke up what was otherwise mundane work.

"That's good. I didn't want to overstep my bounds" she confessed.

"Overstep your bounds?" I asked confused "You're my wife how would having lunch with me be overstepping your bounds?"

"Johnathon did not always appreciate it when I tried to have lunch with him," she said wryly.

I chuckled "Well we've already determined that man's an i***t. I like it when you bring me delicious food" I teased "and intelligent conversation that doesn't revolve around being a lawyer all the time. How are your businesses going?" Flair sighed "We have somebody managing the yoga studio for now" she began and I interrupted.noveldrama

"I thought you liked instructing the classes?"

"I did," she said surprised "but I don't have the time anymore" she admitted "Between that and approving designs and everything else, it became a bit much. I decided to take a step back and so did Rachel. We can always go back if we change our minds in the future. That's not the only yoga studio we own" she divulged "and I have ideas for more classes I would like to be able to offer as well."

It sounded interesting. I regarded her steadily "As long as you're not giving up anything for my sake. We agreed you would still do whatever you wanted when we got married."

"This was my decision," Flair said smiling "and I like having spare time to spend with you or to take Roscoe to the park. Speaking of which, Johnathon paid the money back," she said, raising a brow.

"He must be thrilled" I murmured mischievously.

Flair laughed "Probably not, but I intend to donate it to the animal haven. I've already sent the cheque in the mail to them. It should make a big difference in how many animals they are able to rescue and save for the next few years at least."

"You have a heart of gold Flair Oakes," I said, eyeing my wife with pride.

"It's a shame I couldn't save them all," she said sadly.

"We have Roscoe," I said "and he's smitten with you. I won't deny you another pet if you would like, but I draw the line at having hundreds of animals in our home" I teased making her laugh again, her smile brightening her face.

Flair pushed her noodles away half eaten. I looked at her in concern. Her face was pale and she looked nauseous. "Are you feeling sick again?" I asked, hoisting myself out of the chair and moving to rub circles on her back "Do you need me to get you a bag or something?" I offered.

She shook her head weakly, breathing deeply. I continued to rub her back, concerned.

"It will pass," she said confidently "Just give it a minute."

Sure enough, the color in her face reappeared as I stopped rubbing her back. She sat upright and swallowed hard. I handed her some water. She took small sips, being cautious.

"Flair tell me what's going on? I thought you were feeling better?" I asked, moving back to my chair and observing her. "I am," she said weakly.

"It doesn't look like that to me, you look like you're still sick. Have you been to see a doctor?" I demanded "Because I know a good one. I can make you an appointment. You shouldn't mess with your health. I don't want you to take risks with your health" I added. "Rachel and I saw a doctor this morning," she said quietly "so please don't worry about having to make an appointment."

She was fidgeting with her hands now, wringing them together and avoiding my gaze. Fear struck me. If she had seen a doctor then she already knew what was wrong with her. Was this why she had brought me lunch? Was she trying to soften the blow that something was seriously wrong with her? I could feel myself beginning to panic and she must have sensed that because she immediately put a hand out and spoke hastily.

"It's not bad news," she said and I relaxed instantly.

"Then what is it? Whatever it is we can work through it together" I said as she nodded and then glanced down at her hands.

"I don't know how you are going to feel about this" she began as I tensed "but the doctor confirmed it with a blood test and you have a right to know..."

The anticipation was killing me. Why didn't she just spit it out? She gulped and then finished the sentence, leaving me reeling and unable to speak as I stared at her in shock "I'm pregnant Grayson, with your child. A few weeks pregnant to be exact."
