The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

Chapter 283: Broken friendships

Lydia's blood raged in her veins. Aiden was here. She looked at Jason apologetically then she stood.

"It seems the guests out back in your garden are people I know. Including a self-proclaimed manager who has been blocking all sales of my art," Lydia said and Jason suddenly understood what was going on.

"Do you mind, if I have a word with this manager?" Lydia asked and Jason shook his head asking her to go ahead.

Lydia marched out of the office and into the gallery. She made her way to the entrance leading out to the gallery's back garden and spotted Aiden at a glance. He was standing with Sandra. She had her hands all over him as usual.

It used to bother Lydia in the past. Sandra's behaviour was the core of a lot of their quarrels. But right now, Lydia did not care.

Aiden noticed her walking close and started to smile when Lydia walked up to him and threw a slap.

The slap sent Aiden to the floor quickly. His ears rang and his vision blurred. Sandra was instantly alarmed and rushed up to get in between them.

"For god's sake Lydia, what has gotten into you? I just hosted a party for him, there is no way to act this way even if you didn't want him to attend," Sandra basically screamed in her face.

"Get out of the way," Lydia had no time for Sandra's dramatics. Sandra was a classic actress. In a few words, she made Lydia out to be a jealous girlfriend.

Lydia did not bother explaining. This girl for some reason always saw her as competition despite the fact that she had broken up with Aiden years ago.

"No matter what, you can't..." Sandra started to say, but Lydia pushed her out of the way. Aiden had already gotten to his feet at this point. "What the hell?" he shouted at Lydia.

"Did you claim to be my manager and take calls from art collectors without my knowledge?" Lydia asked and Aiden froze.

"You are not used to the art world. Is it bad for me to look out for my best friend?" Aiden asked. Best friend? That was when they were children. Then they dated and everything ended.

"By telling people my art is not for sale? By blocking collectors from even seeing the art or contacting me?" Lydia asked.

"You are overreacting," Aiden said. He was not sure when Lydia gained this amount of strength. His jaw and knock hurt from her slap.

"Overreacting? Every single moment, you saw how much work I put into publicizing my art. All the while going behind my back to block people from buying my art?" Lydia asked, her voice was shaking at this point.

This was the man she grew up with. Even though they broke up, their family could at least be called friends. But he was actively trying to stall her success. Lydia held back the urge to tear him apart.

“This is not the time for this, Lydia. I will explain everything later," Aiden said. He was aware that people were watching and they were giving him weird looks.

"No need. We are done. Thank god I have witnesses. I don't ever want to hear the words best friend from your lips again," Lydia said and turned to the back entrance to see Harry, Mark and Jason.

"Mr Dale, I hope you do not mind being a witness that this man is not my agent and has no right to make decisions on my art," Lydia said. Jason raised a brow, but nodded.

"Of course," he answered, glancing at Harry, who seemed very pleased for some reason.

"Lydia! You are throwing away our friendship over some stupid art?” Aiden asked incredulously.

"My entire career and dream I have been working on for years is stupid?" Lydia asked, before letting out a small laugh.

"It seems I am the one who is stupid to have tolerated all your nonsense. If you ever impersonate my manager again, I will sue you. Get out of my life Aiden. We are done!" Lydia declared and turned to leave.

Aiden's face darkened at this. He knew she would be angry if she found out. But to throw away their friendship? He did not believe it. He did not believe much in the world but he believed that he was Lydia's sun and moon, the centre of her universe. He felt that she avoided him after their break up because she could not move on.

There was no way he was letting her leave just like that. He reached out to grab her but found that an unknown man was holding onto his arm. "Don't touch her!" Harry said darkly.

"And who is this, Lydia? Is this why you want to break up? Is it because you found a new man?" Aiden asked. He was boiling. It was not the first time he noticed how men were attracted to Lydia. It was one of the reasons why he had stalled the sales of her art. If she gained success, she would be out there, attracting more men.

Aiden was pissed. He had only done something small and she had found a new man?

His shout made Lydia stop and turn back. Aiden looked so pathetic, that Lydia sneered.

"I never knew you were a narcissist, but I learn every day. We broke up years ago, but you still believe I am crouching somewhere waiting for you. And yes, this is my boyfriend My entire campus knows this, you had come out of your ass and actually acted like my friend, you would have known I have been dating for a while," Lydia said and turned to leave again.

Aiden made to grab her again, forgetting that Harry was still holding onto his arm. The next moment, he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder blade and let out a scream.

"Let go, you are hurting him," Sandra rushed over again. The little push Lydia had given her was bad. She did not know this girl was so strong.

Sandra rushed over to help but froze in her steps when Harry's eyes descended on her. She was suddenly so afraid, she did not dare to move. Fear suddenly ripped through her. She was sure that if she dared come close, this man would kill her.

She heard Aiden groan in pain. When Harry would not let go, Sandra looked to Lydia to do something.

"Have your goon let go of him!" Sandra shouted.

She had never liked this Sandra girl. Despite being a celebrity, she did not care about rumours and was always clinging to Aiden. She acted as though all women were her enemy.

Lydia could tell she was utterly scared of Harry. It took a second before her security guards rushed up and stood in between them as though afraid Harry would attack.

"Tell your friend to let him go. He is in pain," Sandra corrected her words when Harry's eyes descended on her again. Even with her security blocking the path between them, Sandra had a feeling he could still kill her.

Harry looked to Lydia and raised a brow as though asking if he should let Aiden go. Honestly, Harry did not want to. But he was still careful about Lydia's thoughts.

Lydia nodded.novelbin

"If you ever come near her again, I will break all your bones," Harry said, letting go.

Aiden immediately fell to the floor and Sandra rushed to his side.

Lydia was no longer interested in watching this farce, so she turned around and left with Harry following her.

Jason saw that the issue was all but resolved and offered to show Lydia around the Gallery. Lydia agreed and Jason glanced at Harry and raised a knowing brow before leaving.

Mark sure enjoyed watching everything unfold. He glanced at Harry and then back at Lydia, who was being shown around.
