Chapter 571 Sweet
Avery felt great after clearing her name.
Therefore, she decided to prepare dinner for Cayden. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
“I'll help. It'll be too tiring for you to do it alone.” Cayden approached her, intending to help her out.
However, Avery chased him away to his study. “You should deal with your business matters. I can prepare dinner by myself. Besides, Lorraine will help me out, so don't stay here and be a hindrance.” I know he left many matters unattended after going on walks with me outside for the past few days. I may be pregnant, but I can still do many things. Besides, with Lorraine lending me a hand, I don't need his help in the kitchen.
Cayden shook his head resignedly after he was forcefully pushed to the study. I feel like I'm being treated like a bother...
Avery casually put on an apron for pregnant women before preparing dinner with Lorraine's help.
Even though Cayden disliked milk, he loved milk jelly.
Avery poured two large glasses of milk into a pot and boiled it. Then, she added white cotton candy to the milk and gently stirred the liquid with a spoon.
After the cotton candy melted into the milk, she poured the mixture into a white bowl. Without delay, she added diced fruits into the bowl.
Finally, she deposited the bowl into the freezer.
Avery intentionally added a lot of sugar because she knew Cayden loved sweets.
After that, she prepared a few more dishes, including a fish dish, chicken wings, and a banana dish.
Forty minutes later, a delicious and nutritious meal was ready to be served.
“Who did you learn to cook from, Mrs. Moore? This is incredible!” Lorraine couldn't help but be impressed by the variety of dishes Avery made. I'm aware Avery's a good cook, but I didn't think she knew how to make the dishes look colorful and plate the food beautifully. That's not even mentioning how aromatic these dishes are. I'm dazzled, honestly.
Humbly, Avery grinned. “You flatter me. Honestly, cooking is just my hobby. This is nothing remarkable. Sometimes, when I want to prepare certain dishes, I just search for the recipe online.”
Upon hearing that, Lorraine was even more impressed. It took me over a year of learning under a talented chef to achieve my current cooking skills. Even though Mrs. Moore only looked up recipes online, she still managed to prepare those dishes better than I could!
As Lorraine served the dishes in the dining room, Avery went to the study to summon Cayden for dinner.
However, the room was empty.
Then, she heard the sound of flowing water coming from the nearby bathroom.
Avery assumed Cayden was taking a bath and knocked on the bathroom door. “Dinner's ready, Cayden. Once you're done with your shower, head to the dining room.”
The sound of water flowing abruptly stopped before Cayden opened the door and pulled her into his firm embrace.
When Avery saw his naked body, she blushed. “What are you doing...”
Her cheeks burned, and even her ears turned red.
“I want you, Babe.” Without delay, Cayden kissed her lips while touching her inappropriately.
Avery shook her head. “We mustn't. It's about time for dinner. It's not a good idea for... us to...”
Despite her protest, she went along with him in the end.
Avery's pregnancy had been rather harsh, meaning her body was weak, so she couldn't satisfy him as well as before.
However, she was aware Cayden had been suppressing his sexual urges by secretly taking cold showers.
As much as she pitied him, she could only help relieve his urges through other means.
Lorraine tactfully avoided disturbing her employers when they didn't show up.
By the time Avery and Cayden appeared in the dining room, an hour had passed.
During dinner, Avery kept her head lowered.
She ate silently with scorching cheeks.
On the other hand, Cayden thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. Occasionally, he would glance at her with a satisfied look, embarrassing her further.
After dinner, they went to their private spot to rest so that Lorraine wouldn't disturb them.
Upon resting Avery on his thighs, Cayden caressed her abdomen as though he was comforting the baby and kissed her lips domineeringly again.
It wasn't until she was almost out of breath that he released her.
Insatiably, Cayden licked her lips and complimented, “What a sweet, pleasant taste.”
Avery blushed even harder.
Amused, he added, “I meant the dinner you made.”
She replied with silence.
Grinning, Cayden pinched her cheek. “Both you and the dinner were very sweet, which is my favorite flavor.”
His words colored Avery's countenance tomato-red.
Whenever he flirted, his voice would sound deep and magnetic, which was fabulously alluring.
Just as the couple was being lovey-dovey, Avery's phone rang.
Cayden turned to the device sitting on the coffee table and grabbed it.
After glancing at the screen, he handed the phone to Avery. “It's your aunt.”
Avery answered the call. “Aunt Alina.”
“The day after tomorrow is Saturday, Ery. I've set a checkup appointment with a doctor for you, so please remember to come. Will Cayden be sending you there, or should I pick you up? Let me know your decision,” informed Alina.
Avery had an aversion to hospitals. However, when she recalled what Alina told her back at her grandfather's place, she couldn't reject her aunt's kindness. “Got it, Aunt Alina. I'll contact you before
heading to the hospital.”
“Mhm.” Upon receiving her niece's assurance, Alina ended the call in relief.
Right after Avery placed the phone down, Cayden hugged her tighter, anxious. “You're going for a checkup? Is there something wrong with your body?”
The Moore family had a dedicated obstetrician performing monthly checkups for Avery so that Cayden could better track and understand her health.
While Avery's body was somewhat frail, she was still healthy, and her baby was developing well. So, Cayden couldn't help but be curious as to why Alina asked Avery to attend a checkup at a hospital.
In response, Avery voiced her aunt's concerns. “It's because the Rumpley family has two cancer patients. One's my dad and the other's Aunt Alina. She wonders why our family members have such a high chance of getting cancer. So, she asked doctors about it and learned that this type of cancer is highly likely to be inherited. She was worried I'd inherit it too, so she strongly recommended that I receive a hospital checkup.”
Cayden nodded in understanding. Suddenly, he recalled the secret investigation he asked Xavier to conduct on Leonardo. Perhaps Avery still doesn't know she isn't Leonardo's daughter. Once I've discovered who her real parents are, I'll find a way to reveal this cruel truth to her.
