Chapter 655 Cunning
Sebastian and Molly were leaving when Molly turned back and exchanged a glance with Vera, her eyes filled with uncertainty.
Vera, holding Theodore, waved goodbye to Molly with his little hand.
Sebastian liked Theodore. Before driving off, he rolled down the window and clapped his hands at Theodore, making a gesture as if he wanted to hold him. Theodore paused for a moment, then reached out his little hands towards Sebastian.
Seeing the adorable Theodore, Sebastian got out of the car and gave him a hug. Shawn, in a negotiating tone, said to Sebastian and Molly, "Sebastian, give me a granddaughter. We have enough boys in the family; we need a girl."
Holding Theodore, Sebastian pinched his little face and asked, "What has your grandpa done to you that he doesn't want a grandson anymore?"
Theodore, with a serious face, seemed to wonder what it had to do with him.
Vera, always quick to defend Theodore, said, "That's clearly because of Randall at home, it has nothing to do with my son. Sebastian, don't wrong, Theodore."
Theodore immediately made a couple of sounds, showing his agreement.
Patrick found Theodore adorable and took him away, but within seconds, Theodore was in Vincent's arms. Randall came over to pinch Theodore's cheek, and Susan held his little hand.
Theodore, feeling uncomfortable from all the pinching, started to pout. Before he could cry, Vincent scolded Randall, "If your hand is itchy, chop it off!"
Theodore just pouted a bit and then stopped crying.
Sebastian had just driven home when he received a call. He dropped off Molly and left again without even getting out of the car.
Molly walked into the living room alone. Ellie looked behind her and asked, "Where's Sebastian?"
"He got called away."
Molly said and then went to the bedroom.
The Olteran Manor.
Patrick watched Vera change Theodore's diaper and asked, "What did you and Molly talk about this afternoon?"noveldrama
"Why are you so curious about women's conversations?" Vera didn't answer Patrick.
Patrick awkwardly rubbed his nose, went to the bed, picked up the freshly cleaned and dressed Theodore, and placed him between them. Theodore excitedly turned his head to look at Vera and Patrick.
Although they said they would let Shawn take care of Theodore at night, Vera and Patrick never really let Shawn take care of him all the time. They only occasionally let Shawn take the child for fun. Most nights, Theodore still slept between Vera and Patrick.
Moreover, Vera and Patrick were unwilling to let Theodore be taken care of by others every day. They both worked or went to school during the day and had little time to spend with Theodore, only being able to be with him at night and on weekends.
Patrick, being a first-time father, wanted to train young Theodore to sleep alone in his own room, but that never happened. He also wanted Theodore to be weaned at three months, but now, at four months, Theodore was still happily nursing. Sometimes, while nursing, Theodore would turn his head to smile at Patrick before continuing to nurse.
Parents with principles often find those principles retreating in the face of their children.
Even Patrick, who had a cleanliness obsession, had none when it came to Theodore. During bath time, Patrick would hold the naked Theodore and bathe him. When Vera stood on tiptoe to wash Theodore's hair, Patrick felt a warm stream on his arm, even though the shower was off.
Father and son exchanged glances, and Patrick asked, "Theodore, did you just pee on me?"
Teddy blinked, his chubby little face not answering.
Nine o'clock was Theodore's happy hour. Vera had learned a trick from somewhere, taking a soft tissue, separating it into layers, and gently sweeping it across Theodore's face.
Patrick watched Vera's actions and observed Theodore's face.
Patrick and Vera were both trying hard to coax Theodore to sleep. Sure enough, within three minutes, Theodore's eyes began to droop.
After a while, Theodore was asleep.
Vera said, "Honey, if you use the same tricks you use to tease a cat on your son, it will definitely work."
Patrick replied, "I've only ever had one cat, and it was a big one."
Vera pointed at Theodore, "Here's another one. A big cat gave birth to a little cat. You're about to become a cat expert."
Even while asleep, Theodore would make tiny sounds and try to move his little body. Vera, scared, would gently pat his shoulder.
Theodore would then obediently sleep soundly again.
Lilac Manor.
It was ten o'clock, and Sebastian hadn't come back yet. Molly, getting ready for bed,
called him, "Hey, Sebastian, are you coming back tonight?"
"Not sure. You go to bed early and don't play with your phone."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Sebastian's colleagues started gossiping, "Mr. Chase, was that Molly on the phone?"
"Of course it was Molly. Mr. Chase is a married man now," David said.
Sam, sitting at the computer desk, refreshing the data, joined the conversation, "That's obvious. Even if he wasn't married, the only person calling Mr. Chase at this hour would be Molly."
Sebastian smiled and put down his phone. "When I'm not home, Molly has no one to keep her in check. She might fall asleep holding her phone."
Even while chatting, everyone continued with their work.
They were reviewing data until one in the morning. Sebastian and his team were sitting together, looking at the documents in their hands.
"Sam, log into the game and see if Molly is online," Sebastian said, suddenly thinking of Molly at home.
Sam logged in and saw her avatar light up. He looked over at Sebastian.
Sebastian got up, walked over to Sam, and saw that Molly was still awake. He smiled and took out his phone to call her.
Everyone in the team was curious to see how Sebastian would question Molly. Molly's phone rang. "Dad, Sebastian is calling me."
Shawn said, "Then answer it."
Molly looked at the caller ID, hesitated for a while, and answered just before it was about to hang up. "Sebastian, what's up?"
"Are you asleep?"
"Yes, yes, I was just dreaming."
Sebastian responded with an "Oh" and then asked, "What were you dreaming about?"
The team tried to hold back their laughter as Molly struggled to come up with a lie.
She said a couple of things and quickly hung up.
Sebastian pointed at Sam's phone, "Start a game, I'll play."
Sam sent an invite, and after a while, Molly accepted. "Sam, how do you have time to
play games while Sebastian is working overtime with the team?"
The office fell silent.
What do you think?
