The Cherished Wife

Chapter 732

"J!" Clarisse hurried after her, but seeing J retreating into her own little world, Clarisse did not dare to get too close.

Instead, she discreetly took a photo of J's current state and sent it to Milo, who was far away in Capiton.

After finally calming J down, Clarisse felt a slight sense of relief. Once J was settled, she called Milo. "You'll need to send over some more medication."

Milo had just landed when he saw the photo of J in her manic state, which caused him to sigh in frustration. "I'll have my secretary send the medicine, but make sure you administer it to J discreetly."

"Alright," Clarisse agreed, realizing it was the only option left. She had no other means of handling J's volatile behavior. "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now."

"Clarisse," Milo called out, his tone weary. "You've always taken care of J, practically raising her yourself. Please continue to look after her. She's not inherently bad; she's just overly obsessed with Charlie."

"Yes, I understand. Don't worry," Clarisse replied before hanging up. She glanced at the now peacefully sleeping J and could not help but shake her head in resignation.

...

"What's this?"

Charles held up a small white pill bottle, narrowing his eyes.

"According to the report, this was sent from your uncle to your mother this morning," Ronald replied, standing at attention. "I had it analyzed by Mr. Smith. It contains sedative ingredients. It's medication to control J's mental condition."

Ronald handed the analysis report to Charles. "Due to limited time, Mr. Smith only conducted a preliminary analysis, so we don't know all the ingredients yet.

"Based on our informants within the Hoffmans, J had an episode yesterday and threw away her previous medication. This is the latest batch sent."

Charles nodded. "Well done." Then, he asked, "Was the bottle switched?"

"Yes," Ronald replied. "Due to the time constraints, I replaced the pills with simple vitamins. Should I swap them for something else that might not be easily detected?"

Charles smirked, raising an eyebrow at Ronald.

His gaze was playful yet chilling. It sent a shiver down Ronald's spine. "Mr. Hoffman?"

Charles looked away, casually

playing with the pill bottle between his fingers as his eyes glinted with cold intent. "Do as you see fit. Just make sure she doesn't die.

He tossed the bottle into the trash can and added, "Half-dead is also fine."

Ronald shivered but forced a laugh. "I'll take care of it right away."

"Wait," Charles called out, stopping Ronald. "When's the movie's launch event?"Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

"In two weeks," Ronald said after taking a moment to recall. He then hesitantly asked, "Mr. Hoffman, are you really planning to attend?"

Charles slipped his hand into his pocket, a hint of amusement flickering in his eyes. "Is there a problem?"

Ronald quickly shook his head. "No, sir, not at all. I'll make the arrangements."

Once Ronald left, Charles stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the tiny figures moving below from the 27th floor. A faint smile played on his lips, but his eyes remained as cold as ice.
