Chapter 535
"Charge!" Carlos roared like a thunderclap, cracking through the rain.
Upon hearing the command, the 80 men stormed toward Clearwater Psychiatric Hospital like ferocious beasts.
When they entered the hospital, they split up into eight teams of ten people each. The teams spread out to hunt down Matthew.
The rain kept pouring, and the wind kept howling. The heavy rain and mist made it hard to see ahead. Trevor looked at the awful weather and turned to Brad.
"The visibility is poor, and many trees have fallen, Mr. Miles. It's too dangerous. Maybe you shouldn't go after all."
Brad glanced at the weather outside and shrugged it off. "It's not like bullets are raining from the sky. What's there to be afraid of?"
Trevor turned to Hugh for help. "Can you talk him out of this, Mr. Walker? It's really not safe."
Hugh nonchalantly looked at the harsh weather outside and coldly snorted. He irritably said, "He's right. It's not like bullets are coming down. What's so dangerous about it?"
Trevor was at a loss for words. Sure, it wasn't raining bullets, but Brad and Hugh were old. Most importantly, their ranks were quite high. He had to ensure their safety.
What if a tree had fallen onto the car when they were driving down the road because of the storm? What if something heavy had fallen from the building on either side of the road because of the heavy rain? What if the howling wind took down the power line pole?
The more Trevor thought about it, the more hesitant he became to take Brad to Clearwater Psychiatric Hospital. "How about we wait until the rain stops?"
Brad walked to the doorway and gazed at the raging storm outside. He calmly remarked, "It's just a bit of bad weather, and you're calling it dangerous? When you're on the battlefield with bullets flying everywhere, will you be crying for your mom? How will you defend the country then?"
With that, he walked directly toward the car by the door.
Startled, Trevor rushed after Brad to hold the umbrella, but a strong gust of wind flipped it inside out as soon as he opened it, causing him to stumble a few steps back.
Upon seeing that, Hugh shook his head and walked briskly behind Brad into the downpour.
Trevor watched as Brad and Hugh ignored the rain and made their way toward the car. Annoyed, he tossed the umbrella aside and ran after them.
He rushed ahead to the car and opened the door for them. When the trio got inside the car, they were soaked like drowned rats.noveldrama
Ignoring the rain soaking him, Brad kept urging, "Quickly get to Clearwater Psychiatric Hospital. Any later, and it'll be too late."
Trevor dared not to waste any more time and started the engine. He floored the gas and sped into the rain. Several cars trailed right behind.
Two cars raced out of the airport. Sitting beside the driver, Horace looked at the raging storm outside, feeling relieved.
"Luckily, the plane made it to the airport before the rain started. If we were late, the plane wouldn't have been able to land in this weather."
Next to Horace, Edmund Santana chuckled and remarked, "This journey feels like divine intervention."
Horace shook his head. "Do you believe in that?"
Edmund replied with a smile, "I'm not superstitious, but having a smooth journey is always nice. We've arrived in Lambda City. Should we contact Carlos?"
Horace crossed his arms. "Forget about that. He's getting older without the proper qualifications. Plus, his luck isn't great either. This is his last chance for a promotion.
"Without my help, moving up will be next to impossible. This is his only shot. I trust he'll make the most out of it."
On the first underground level of the psychiatric hospital, Matthew rested on a chair with his eyes fixed on the door. The storm outside seemed to have nothing to do with himo
He paid no attention to the blood and corpses around him, sitting quietly. Sebastian rubbed his hands anxiously. "Perhaps you should go now, Mr. Grant." His mind was filled with the images of Horace storming in with his soldiers. Numerous guns pointed at Matthew, firing away. Just the thought of it sent chills down his spine.
Noticing Sebastian's anxious expression, Matthew sighed. "I shouldn't have dragged you into this. Hurry up and carry your father out. If you don't go now, it'll be too late."
When Matthew came home a few days ago, Matthew saw several unfamiliar parks parked at the entrance of Silverbrook Village. He realized that Horace's men had set their sights on his family, including
Stanley, Lillian, and Lorraine.
It triggered his wraith. Even though Ivy had been secretly keeping an eye on them, what if she let her guard down?
The thought of what might happen scared Matthew, and he wasn't going to let Stanley, Lillian, and Lorraine be in harm's way.
Matthew was always on the lookout for an opportunity. After learning that Dallas was associated with Horace, he knew this was his chance to end everything once and for all.
Dallas only got to live until now because Matthew was waiting for Horace to show
up.
Sebastian bitterly smiled. "You saved
me last time, and now you've rescued Dad. You got mixed up with the Wood family because of me. If I Swalk away, what does that say about me?"
Matthew shook his head. "Honestly, it's not about you. Let's drop the subject.
Hurry up and get Theo out of here. What if more of them show up?"
What do you think?
