Chapter 34

Sophia cracked a smile, didn’t say much else, and turned to leave. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

Out of the blue, Brandon grabbed fier arm, a firm grip.

Sophia tumed back, puzzled

Brandon just stood there, watching her, lips pursed slightly, his jawline tense.

Sophla was clueless.

“Something else on your mind?” she asked.

Brandon just stared at her, his eyes deep and intense.

“We might not be done here,” he said, enunciating each word with a clear and calm tone.

Sophia frowned, not understanding.

Brandon didn’t let go of her arm or say anything more; instead, he suddenly leaned in, reaching towards the wardrobe drawer behind Sophia, the very spot she had just retrieved her medical reports from.

Sophia’s face changed slightly, and she instinctively tried to pull away, reaching to cover the drawer. However, Brandon was quicker, easily blocking her attempt his other hand going for the neatly stacked medical reports.

Sophia quickly hugged his arm. “Brandon, you’re invading someone’s privacy.”

Brandon let her hold onto his arm, looking down at her. “I think I have a right to know about this.”

Sophia’s face paled a bit, her grip on his arm loosening. She didn’t try to stop him anymore, just turned her head slightly

away.

Brandon didn’t reach for the reports again but looked at her. “You’re pregnant, aren’t you?”

Sophia pressed her lips together, not responding.

Brandon pressed on. “When did you find out?

Sophia’s lips tightened. She finally faced him. The day I left the country, at the airport.”

Brandon remembered that day. He was at the airport too, watching her leave with another man from the second floor.

She had seen him too when she looked back, and by then, she already knew she was pregnant.

“You never planned to tell me,” he said, not as a question but as a statement, his gaze unyielding on her face.

Sophia avoided his gaze, speaking softly. “What difference would telling you make? You don’t get a say”

Brandon stated flatly “You don’t want this child.”

His voice was still calm, almost eerily so.

Sophia bit her lip and remained silent.

Brandon watched her, also silent.

The silence spread between them.

After a long pause, Brandon was the one to break it.

“Is it so hard to keep her?” he asked, his voice soft.

Sophia’s eyes reddened. She didn’t know how to answer. It wasn’t about whether she wanted to keep the baby, it was about whether she could.

Brandon saw the moisture in her eyes. He stepped forward and suddenly opened his arms, gently embracing her

Sophia was taken aback and tried to break free when she realized what was happening.

But Brandon held her tight, not letting her pull away.

Sophia, he said softly, stopping her struggle. “I want our child. Don’t give up on her so easily.”

His voice was so gentle it brought tears to Sophia’s eyes.

She sniffled, holding back the lump in her throat, and gently pushed him away. She didn’t nod in agreement or shake her head in refusal,

She never made rash decisions Just to spite Brandon.

“I can’t promise you anything right now,” she said quietly, looking at him, “I haven’t decided whether to keep her or not. Or rather, she hasn’t decided if she wants to stay”

She took out today’s medical report from the drawer and handed it to him. “How did you find out?”

Brandon took the report she handed him, his gaze pausing on the diagnosis that read “early pregnancy.”
