Chapter 27
Katrina's POV
"There's no way that was found in my room because I didn't do it I know you hate me, but is framing me enough!" I growled out in anger, glaring at Phillip and the men behind him,
Tm framing you? I think you're mistaken about something. Why'd I want to do that?" The smile on Phillip's lips remained as he stared at me with a mockenjnh gaze.
He wanted to see me beg
HAIT
I I would think give him the satisfaction of what he wants.
"Where is Silas?" I hissed. I hadn't seen him since they pulled me out of my room, and he was the one ZJ needed to talk to.
"Silas isn't available right now. He's still unconscious due to the poison you had given him. So until he regains consciousness, I would be in charge of the mata, Phillip seemed to be filled with delight as he spoke, his eyes glinting This is bad.
Silas isn't awake so I needed to make sure I would be able to escape once I try.
"If you're thinking of a way to escape, I suggest you end such useless thoughts. There was no way you'd be able to escape from here, and if you tried, you would be dead before you got to the gates, Phillips's gone was filled with promise, and I gulped, knowing he was serious about what he was saying
"What would Silas say when he finds out you touched his wife?" questioned, staring at him.
This was the last card I could think of and I knew it was defective
Phillip scoffed lightly, staring at me with mockery in his eyes
"His wife? We both know that Silas does not consider you as his wife. Or were you deceived because of the little things you both had? You're nothing to Silas and you know that,"
His words pierced through me because I knew they were nothing but the truth.

My life was in danger, and I needed to get the hell out of this place.
One of the men behind Silas whispered some words in his ears, and his expression turned stoic.
It seems your punishment has been disrupted. I'd have to take care of some things now. You should prepare yourself for what's to come. I'm only being considerate to you since hillip pushed to his height, taking a step back.
le stared at me for a few minutes before he turned around and walked off, the guards going along with him
need to get out of here.
nmediately, I heard the basement door slam shut; I immediately pushed to the cell gates.
had to get out of here as immediately as I could, and wasting time was only going to bring my death.
ith precision, I picked the locks open and the gate swung open, allowing me to step away immediately.

I wasn't certain if Phillip had asked people to guard the door, but I was going to worry about that later. With soft steps, I hurriedly walked towards the door, placing my ears against the metal.
When I didn't hear anything. I pulled the door open, peeping through.
There was no one in the area and I used that as my chance to escape.
My heart beat wildly in my chest with sweat dripping down my forehead.
I was running in plain sight, hoping no one would see me.
But how possible was that?
This place was filled with Silas's and Phillip's men who wanted me dead, plus the maids too.
I'm certain it would be a shoot-on-sight situation if someone saw me.
But I didn't have a choice.
If I stayed till night and decided to escape, then I might not even make it to that time.
So the best time was now when no one was expecting it.
A guard comes into view and I gasped, ducking out of sight.
He seemed to be walking towards me and I panicked, not certain of where to hide.
The case I hid behind was only big enough to hide me from someone who was walking in front of me, but the moment he walked past it, he would be aware
What should I do? What should I do?
Time seemed to slow down and my heart raced. I felt hopeless and unsure of what I was going to do.
Immediately, I thought I had no hope; someone grabbed my arm, pulling me into a room.
A tiny palm slapped against my lips to keep me from screaming Alisa's face staring up at me with wide eyes.
My eyes widened and I instantly panicked.
"Relax, relax. I'm not going to tell them," Alisa said, trying to call me down.
I stared at her suspiciously, not certain if to believe her or not.
Alisa has been Silas' worker for a while now, and her loyalty quite obviously lies with him.
"I know you didn't poison Silas, Alisa said and my eyes widened more.
She knew? But how did she know? Does she know who did it?
Is she going to act as a witness?
"But I'm not certain who did it. And it seems like you're about to escape, so I'm going to help you." She removed her hands from my lips, holding my hands in hers as she stared up at me. Her eyes glistened with tears and she stared at me with pity. She felt pity for me right now.
My face fell when I heard her first sentence z a frown forming on my face..

was the one in charge of taking care of Silas in his sick state, so I was hoping that she could have seen it or heard something. But when Alisa shook her head, my heart fell.
What was I going to do? I didn't want Silas to wake up and think that I was the one who poisoned him; he already hated me enough because of my father.
"You were planning on escaping, weren't you?" Alisa asked and my head snapped at her.
"Yes, I was," I answered, unsure of where this was leading
Was she going to take me back there? Would she give me back to Phillip
I couldn't just trust her if she said she was going to help me.
The house is filled with so many men and you'd be caught the moment you step out of this room. There's a back route you can take, I use that most times when I need to go out, I stared at Alisa, unsure of whether to believe her or not,
Sure
she had never shown me any negative energy all this while but what would she benefit from helping
She could lose her job if Phillip finds out about this. She had all to lose and nothing to gain couldn't just trust her.
"What are you thinking about? We need to leave now before they notice you are gone and chase after you," Alisa said with panic in her voice, her hands outstretched for me to take.
I looked at her outstretched hand and I looked back at her face, wondering if I should take it.
But I also didn't have anything to lose if I took her hands; trusting her was as dangerous as running out of there with no plan in mind, but I was ready to take the safer danger. With a firm nod, I took Alisa's hands, and a wide grin spread on her face.
She instantly pulled the door open, poking her head out to check for any guard.
When she was certain there were none, she pulled me out, running in the opposite direction I was headed previously.
had never been to this part of the mansion and do u jet nee pull me with hopes that she was certain of where we were reading.
We had been running for what seemed to be ages; this showed just how big this place was since the majority of the mafia nd the servants lived there.
eeling eyes on me, I immediately spun around in fear of being taught but was surprised when I saw no one behind me
could have sworn that someone was staring at me earlier, but shook it off as my paranoia,
ly bleeding knees were already hurting and I didn't have the leisure to stop to clean them.
could endure a lot of pain as long as I got out with my life..
isa pulled me into the corridor, and we stopped to catch our breath, panting heavily
isa leaned against the wall, her chest heaving as she panted.
"Only servants take this mute. Don't worry, no one would see us she smiled at me warmly
"Why are you doing this?" I asked without thinking, waiting for her to answer.
"Doing what? What are you talking about? Either she was just genuinely confused or she liked playing the fool.
Her giant orbs stared at me with confusion mixed with them and it made it hard to believe that she had ulterior motives towards me.
"Why are you helping me?" I asked once again.
The smile on her face faltered, and she turned away.
I knew it, she had something she was hiding.
She was leading me to my death.
I pushed up from where I was about to run in the other direction when she spoke, stopping me in my tracks.
"It's just
that I don't want to see someone else die for useless reasons, she smiled at her, but it wasn't the usual bright smile I
was used to.
This one was filled with pain and it made me wonder what had happened to her.
For the first time, the eyes that used to hold so much happiness and brightness were dimmed as she recounted what had happened in the past.
It wasn't my place to ask her what was wrong and what she was thinking of, so I turned away feeling bad.
You lost someone close to you; I'm sorry, I didn't know, I apologized
Instantly, the sad look was wiped away from her face, and in its place was plastered her usual go-to bright look I was used to
"It's fine, it's all in the past," She beamed brightly at me, showing no trace of the version of herself I had seen just now
Had it all been an act? All the smiles she had sent my own.
Her bubbly personality. Were they all acts to hide the way she was truly feeling inside?
Alisa tucked a strand of hair behind her ears, pushing off from the wall.
"We are quite close. I wouldn't be leading you there because have something else to do, but I'd direct you, let's get going so you can escape. All the maids are working right now, but someone might come here to take a break and I wouldn't want you to be caught," Without
I waiting for what I had to say, Alisa turned around and raced off and I followed after her.
Take a corner there, you'd see a window. There's a box there for you to climb through. There's a hole in the fence, you wouldn't be able to miss it. You can run out from there. Sleep running down the road and don't stop until you get to the highway," Alisa directed and I nodded my head.
lears pricked my eyes and I instantly wiped them off, sniffling.
Thank you so much, I won't be able to forget this,"
Fodding at Alisa once more, I instantly took off.
didn't take long before I got to the window in question and it was exactly as she said.

Thanks to my extremely light and underweight body, I was able in climb out of the window easily, jumping down.
I looked around, and when I didn't see any guard in sight I instantly took off.
I to miss
Just like Alisa had said, the hole in the fence was covered by leaves but it wasn't hard to
It was large enough for me to easily squeeze myself through it and that was exactly what I had done.
My beard thumped loudly as I pushed through. I was expecting someone to yell behind me, was expecting a hand to clamp around my ankle and pull me away.
Few seconds later and I had successfully slithered my way through the hole.
My heart raced in excitement and fear as I stared at the road in front of me,
I was finally out
1 squealed loudly, clamping my fingers around my lips when I realized what I was doing.
I can't celebrate yet until I am far away from this place.
But where could I go? Most definitely couldn't go back to Marcos, he would just ship me off to Chris immediately.
I should first leave this place before I think about where to go.
My knees were already hurting badly and I wasn't sure if I would be able to run for much longer.
Taking a deep breath, I raced off towards the direction Alisa had said
My lungs burned the farther I ran, but I wouldn't dare stop. My ankles hurt, begging me to stop, but they should understand that I couldn't afford to do that.
I just had to get to the highway.
The house got smaller the farther I ran and I could already taste my freedom.
Just a few more meters.
I urged myself, pushing my body faster.
And then I heard it before I saw it
The sound of cars and civilization.
was close to the highway and away from those people.
