Chapter 553
Hendrix wasn't sure how long he had been asleep. His mind remained in a constant haze. Sometimes, he felt unbearably freezing cold. Other times, he was burning up.
In the midst of it all, he even thought he saw Noelle. She was frowning at him, her expression tinged with impatience.
Instinctively, he reached out to grab her, but the moment he moved, she stepped back. The look of disgust in her eyes was unmistakable. Hendrix could only slowly withdraw his hand.
He didn't know how much time had passed before he finally opened his eyes.
The sky outside had already darkened. He was still lying in bed, the cooling patch on his forehead now the same temperature as his body. He was soaked with sweat, as if he had truly been wandering through a desert.
Slowly, he turned his head, only to notice someone lying on the small couch nearby. She was curled up under a bathrobe.
The moonlight streaming through the window bathed her in a soft glow, illuminating her features clearly-her long lashes, her flawless skin, and her full, tempting lips.
Hendrix stared at her face for a long time. Then, it hit him—there was a full moon tonight.
After a brief pause, he got up from the bed. He wanted to move closer to get a better look at her. But Noelle snapped open her eyes in the next second.
Their gazes met, and Hendrix stopped in his tracks.
Noelle had just woken up, her thoughts still hazy. She stared at Hendrix for a few seconds before finally registering his presence.
"You're awake."
Hendrix wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but for a brief moment, he thought he heard a hint of joy in her voice.noveldrama
But before he could grasp it, Noelle cut straight to the point. "Call Erwin right now and tell him to let me out!"
Hendrix froze in place, as if he couldn't quite process what she meant.
Noelle let out a cold laugh. "You can drop your act. Don't tell me you didn't know."
"Know what?" Hendrix actually asked.
Noelle closed her eyes briefly, trying to keep her temper in check. "Erwin tricked me into coming here, then locked the door from the outside. I've been trapped in this room for an entire day. Otherwise, why would I be here?
"So, call him right now and tell him to let me out. I haven't seen Rosie all day!"
After Noelle finished explaining, Hendrix slowly began to piece things together. So, this was why she was here. No wonder.
He had thought it was all a dream, and when he realized it wasn't, he had been overjoyed. But now, he understood that this was all Erwin's doing. And to make matters worse, she thought he was in on it.
Hendrix pressed his lips together. Then, without explaining himself, he reached for his phone to call Erwin. But he quickly discovered that his phone was missing.
Thus, he turned to Noelle and said, "I can't reach him."
Noelle fell silent. Her gaze remained wary and full of distrust as she looked at him.
Hendrix held her gaze for a moment before returning to the bed. "I know you don't believe me, but I really don't have a way to contact him right now. It's almost morning, so
