Chapter Twenty
It had already been an entire day since he had stormed out and time continued to pass as it slowly became dark outside. I waited patiently in the living room as my eyes kept glancing at the clock. I couldn’t help but worry.
I don’t know what it is but something felt odd. From he’s tantrum to his accusation. My heart couldn’t hold off. Yes, maybe I was still upset and yes, maybe the way things turned out wasn’t his fault, but I couldn’t help but blame him a little. Sighing I leaned back on the couch as I closed my eyes in frustration.
The door opened and closed in a bang startling me slightly as the sound echoed. Was he still mad? Sighing I heard his hurried footsteps as he made his way inside. Dishevelled, Reese looked like there was something after him. I furrowed my eyebrows at the sight before me. What was going on?
“What’s wrong? Did you fight with someone?” I questioned him as my eyes made contact with the small cuts on his arms and face. He simply shook his head as he made his way to me.
“Colleen, we have to leave.” he said panting, completely out of breath. I looked at him confused.
“why?” I questioned him.
“it’s your father, he’s here.” he said exhausted. That’s when I saw the blood trickling down his face from his forehead. I gasped quite taken aback as I rushed to his side.
“Reese, you’re bleeding.” I said getting up rummaging through the kitchen drawers for a cloth. He followed behind me and grabbed my hand Looking me dead in the eye in complete frustration.
“There’s no time for that, Colleen, we have to get out of here. Pack what you need.” he rushed me. I nodded slowly and headed for the room.
My heart thumped in my chest excessively as I grabbed a few items throwing them in a bag. Why couldn’t a single day pass by without something of this sort coming at us?!
**Reese’s POV:**
*few hours earlier*
I couldn’t explain what was ticking me off. The Alex guy or Colleens so called ‘friend’ looked too familiar. I had seen him somewhere before; I know I did. But what had me almost ripping his throat out was the way he looked at her. He wanted her and that did not sit well with me. Just thinking about if I had been even a few days, not a mere few seconds late she may have been snatched by the likes of him and that had my wolf agitated screaming for release.
Sighing in frustration, I continued walking down the path we had used yesterday leading me back into the forested park. This place was too much like our pack forest to be called a park, and it wasn’t surprising, though packs didn’t occupy a certain place, I didn’t mean it was not impossible for rogues to. Last night’s events just seemed to anger me even more. I walked deeper into the woods a stench blocked my nose.
Laughter echoed through the forest, as I stood my ground trying to detect movement. The swishing of the trees indicated something was moving fast and it wasn’t something I was not familiar with, but rather too familiar with. To think, I did not have to only deal with a crazy father but another maniac as well.
“It’s funny how from the very first moment I saw you I didn’t like you, turns out our natural born enemy can be sensed even if they try to hide their odorous scent. Show yourself.” I said as I felt my eyebrows furrow in frustration. I was already annoyed as it was and having to deal with this was more annoying.
Two feet made their way before me, as my line of vision caught sight of him. Alex. Soon I felt a blow into my abdomen, I faltered back hitting a tree behind me.
*stupid Vampire*
“What the hell are you doing?” I groaned out in pain…?
Pain? It made no sense to feel pain for this long, I groaned as I fell to my knees, the only thing that would ever have me in this state was silver, turns out I underestimated him. I let out a small chuckle. I stood up before throwing a punch at him only for him to dodge it. My vision becoming blurry as I tried to hold myself. I closed my eyes trying to heal myself slightly.
“I came to give you a message.” he smirked cunningly as he hit my leg from behind. “Master says it isn’t very smart of you to go against him, so now your dear Luna is going to pay.” he said making my eyes widen.
“I knew there was something off about you. You stinking Vampire!” I yelled angrily. My wolf was getting out of control, but I tried my hardest not to leash out. I could feel him surface to a point I felt I was going to give in completely, I had so little control left.
“Oh, your Colleen wouldn’t be happy to hear you speak to her friend like that, now would she? She won’t forgive you.” he said smiling as he mocked.
I couldn’t help but furrow my eyebrows at his words. He speaks as though he knows her better than me. I growled in annoyance.
“I don’t know who you think you are to her, but your funny ideas of trying to pursue her wont work. So I don’t understand what you’re getting at.” I said as I tried keeping my breathing in check as I stood up. My wolf was getting closer and closer to the surface.
He simply tsked at my words. “Well I think I know i’ll be more trusted than you.” He said.
“And what makes you think that?”
“Well, because I planted a seed of doubt!” he examined proudly.
“What…?”
“I planted a seed of doubt in her mind, so no matter how much she says she forgives you, how much she thinks you are right, how much she feels for you. There will always be a seed of doubt. A doubt that will tear you apart.” he laughed. And that just ticked my wolf.
I could start feeling my bones in pain. I was getting close to shifting. I can’t give in now; I need to suck some information out of him. I need to know what he’s getting to. Just a little more time.
“that will never work, a mate bond is stronger than anything. She will forgive me, believe when I say, that it WILL happen.” I said, believe myself for sure.
Colleen wasn’t weak. She didn’t have a weak resolve. So no matter what tricks they played shed get through it. That was who my mate was.
He chuckled lightly. “Oh Alpha, you do not know what you’re getting yourself into. That girl is nothing but trouble. You’re going to try so hard to get her to believe you and love you, but every time you do it will perish as if it never happened.” he said smoothly.
“The master or Colleen’s father, won’t hurt her right?” I asked carefully. Not wanting anything unnecessary to slip.
“Who knows? He is really a strange man. He can do strange things at strange times. But as for this? I think he’ll allow it to play a little longer, just to watch to suffer. Just to watch you in pain. After all he does hate you.” that’s what I needed. Colleens’ dad’s aim.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
I needed to know what and how he was doing the things he was doing. Only then could I take him down. He was nothing without that so-called power backing him up.
“We’ve never even met prior to me meeting Colleen as my mate! He can’t just hate me; we don’t know each other!” I played out. I just need a little more. Every time the idiot said her name or something in regard to her that my wolf doesn’t like, he kept pushing and pushing forward.
“No you’ve never, but your father has. Something went around with your father and him, which he then learned to despise people and family, I guess that’s what changed the master, but honestly I don’t know why he too so much trouble coming here, he’s here only because he -” he cut himself short. I guess he’s figured out my motives.
He’s here.
That’s what seemed to ring in my mind at the moment. Alex laughed, venom in his tone.
“You are a very smart alpha. But not-” now I cut him short, as my canines shot out. I held him by his throat. Stopping the air passage. Just enough for him to pass out. I can’t kill him. Not yet. Not until I can get more information. And I know he will come back to find me. He will come find us.
Because he loves Colleen.
And that seems to put me on a complete edge of contemplation, and there was nothing more I wanted to do than to kill him right there.
