Chapter 41
Asher POV
Arriving at where I parked my car earlier, I drop the unconscious Adelie in the back seat before I hurry over to the driver's seat before I drive out of the place. She's burning up, and I need to get her to the hospital immediately so she can get treated.
Driving down the road a few minutes later, I keep checking on her through the visor, and seeing her lying there with her eyes closed, I feel a bit angry. I shouldn't be feeling this, considering that nothing happened to her, but I can't help it. Would that bitch kill her if I hadn't shown up? Would she have hurt her if I wasn't there to save her?
Taking a deep breath, I finally take the route that leads to the hospital, and after about twenty minutes of driving, I finally arrive. The door has been closed, so I had to bang on it hard until they opened it for me, and I rush her inside. "You need to stay back here. We will take it from here," One of the nurses stops me when I want to break into the ward she was just rushed into, and I sigh briefly as I run my fingers through my hair.
Standing in the hallway and pacing restlessly like a maniac, the phone in my pocket suddenly starts ringing, and when I bring it out, I figure that it's Adelie's phone, and it's her so-called boyfriend calling.
"This bastard!" I scoff angrily. Where the hell was he when she was abducted, and why the hell is he just calling now? I thought she was supposed to be with him.
I watch as the phone ring and the call drops before I switch the phone off, because why should I answer his call? I'm not the one that's his girlfriend, right? So why should I talk to him?
The door finally opens, and I rush over to the doctor that just came out of the ward.
"How is she, doc? Is she ok?" I ask him, a bit worried. It's the first time I'm feeling this way, and it's so weird. I can't even stop to think about what the hell I'm doing right now.
"Yes, she's out of danger now. It's not that serious. It's just a fever," I sigh in relief as the doctor reveals to me.
"Can I go see her now?" I ask him, and he nods his head before he walks away.
Taking a deep breath, I push the door open and walk inside. There she is, laying on the bed with her eyes closed and looking so pale. I feel my blood boiling like it'd just been set on fire. I don't understand why I'm feeling this way, but I can only conclude that I'm only protecting her for my own sake.
Taking a deep breath, I walk over to the chair beside the bed and sit on it, before I take her hand in mine, giving it a light squeeze.
Her phone starts ringing for the second time, and I check the screen to see that it's Raymond. What the hell does that bastard want now?
"Where are you, babe? I've been searching for you everywhere," His irritating voice sounds through the phone, and I roll my eyes sarcastically.
"If you can't protect her, then fucking let her go," That is the only thing I say to him before I end the call, and drop the phone on the bed, running my fingers through my hair afterward... I have no idea why I'm feeling this way, but all I know is that I'm so pissed right now. I don't know if it's about the situation she's in right now, or if it's because Raymond called. I don't just know what the hell is wrong with me.
My phone suddenly starts ringing in my pocket, and when I see Cynthia's name displayed on the screen, I sigh briefly and drop the phone on the bed. I don't know, but I just want to be alone right now, I don't even want to receive any calls. My phone starts ringing again, and I answer the call this time.
"Hey, Asher. Where are you? I've been trying to reach you but couldn't. Are you okay?" Her worried voice sounds through the phone.
"Yes, I'm fine. Adelie got a fever and I had to rush her to the hospital. We are at the hospital now," I reply to her because she deserves to know what's wrong with her friend.
"Is it that serious? Where is the hospital? I will come over right away," She replies to me, and I scoff silently.
"You can't come now, it's late. You should leave it till morning," I reply to her and end the call immediately, knowing she won't listen to me.
'Alvira' her name rings in my head, and I take a deep breath as I throw my head back and shut my eyes tightly. How will she feel right now? Is it really over between us?
Pushing all the thoughts to the back of my mind, I intend to stand up and leave the ward, but she suddenly holds my hand, and I raise my gaze to see her eyes slightly open.
"My head hurts," She whimpers silently as she touches her forehead. The way she stares at me, I know her vision is not yet cleared.
"I will go call the doctor," I remove my hand from her grasp gently before I stand up and stride out of the ward to get the doctor.
Heading to the doctor's office a few minutes later, I stop on my track when I spot Raymond walking briskly down the hallway, probably looking for the ward Adelie is in. He stops abruptly as soon as he sights me.

"What are you doing here?" I ask him as I slowly clench my fists. I hate him so much with everything in me, and just the sight of him makes me feel like throwing up.
"Where's she, Asher?" He asks, ignoring my question.
"I ask what the hell you are doing here?" I snap at him angrily, forgetting that I was on my way to call the doctor.
"Let's not do this now, please. Is she okay? Where is she, please?" He pleads with me. I can see through him, I know he truly loves her so much, I can read his mind and I know how worried he is at the thought of her being in danger, and guess what? The thought of him being so much in love with her makes me angry instead that I so much want to break his bones and suck his blood dry.
"If you are so much worried about her now, why the hell didn't you protect her in the first place? Where the hell were you when she was in danger and needed you the most?" I yell at him, angry about everything. Maybe I'm angry because she was in danger, or because he's in love with her, but does that really matter now?
"I... I can explain..."
"You have to break up with her," I cut him off, and he raises his eyebrows as his face dilates in shock.
"Are you kidding me? Who the hell are you to tell me that?" He scoffs, and I bite my bottom lip as I throw my head back, trying so hard to control my anger, because I may end up killing this bastard if I don't control this anger. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"If you can't protect her, then let her go," I say to him calmly, picking my words one after the other to prove to him how deadly serious I am right now.
"I'm never going to break up with her!" He fires at me, and I smirk as I shake my head.
"You will eventually have no choice, Raymond. I told you no man can ever love her the way I do, right? Take note of that," I say to him before I walk past him, leaving him there. It didn't take me much time to destroy her relationships in the past, and with the way this dude is giving me a problem, I may just have to kill him later if he's not careful enough...
