Chapter 0916

Miranda had just finished speaking and was about to sit down when Paul asked another question. “Could you elaborate on your point by incorporating examples from

interdisciplinary research in biology and physics?

She was surprised by the unexpected request. Even Christine couldn’t help but glance at Paul on stage.

Elaborating on her viewpoint with examples from interdisciplinary research–this was an opportunity for Miranda to present her research project and approach to a larger audience.

Opportunities like this on a prominent stage, with recognition and support, were something many people dream of but never receive. Yet, Paul had casually offered this chance to Miranda.

Now, she faced a decision–should she accept or decline?

Miranda’s expression changed, and she couldn’t help but look at him again. Their eyes met, and she saw encouragement–and perhaps trust–in his gaze. He believed in her, which was why he gave her this chance to present her work.

With that in mind, she smiled faintly, and a resolute glimmer appeared in her eyes. She knew she couldn’t let him down.

“Of course. My research on constructing biological data models and… In practice, I found… which led to… and further deduced…”

The time Miranda had spent in the lab now proved useful. Every experiment, every set of conclusions, every parameter adjustment was embedded in her memory, which allowed her to speak effortlessly.

She organized her thoughts clearly, explained the experiments logically, and concluded with a concise summary.

As she finished, her timing was perfect and coincided with the end of the segment. She thanked the audience and handed the microphone back to the host before returning to her

seat.

After two seconds of silence, the room erupted in thunderous applause. Even the nitpicking Granton couldn’t help but nod approvingly.

“Is she a student? Which college is she from?”

“She’s sitting next to Dr. Young and having her name remembered by Paul. She must be from Bedford College.”

“Miranda Sutton? That name sounds familiar. I think I’ve heard it before.)

Wait, now that you mention it, I think I’ve heard of her too. Oh, I remember! Have you heard of Infinity Lab, the one that recently entered the National Key Laboratory Rankings?

“Yeah, I know that one. Last year, only six papers from local institutions were published in Nature Biotechnology, and that lab had two of them. But what does that have to do with her?”

“She’s from Infinity Lab.”

“What? Isn’t she from Bedford College? How is she connected to Infinity Lab?”

“There’s a story behind that!”

“Huh?” novelbin

Was that a hint of gossip?

Soon, whispers started circulating in the room. Words like “Bedford College“, “fire safety rectification“, and “self–built laboratories” were mentioned.

Despite being the center of attention, Miranda remained calm, as though she were an outsider to the discussion. Christine, too, seemed composed, almost proud, as if sharing in the moment.

In a corner, Elizabeth watched as Miranda spoke eloquently, exchanged subtle looks with Paul, and sparked a buzz in the room.

At first, she had been enjoying the scene. But as Miranda’s performance exceeded expectations, her shock quickly turned into jealousy, and she wondered why it had to be Miranda.
