Chapter 305
Lemira thought about the Sinclair's warning that her actions could drag her family into the fray, and indeed, they really went and tattled to the Langstons. Savoring the disaster, are we?
With a dismissive tone, Lemira responded, "Well, I've cut ties with the Langstons. This is my own mess."
"And just how big of a mess can you handle on your own? The Sinclairs have already reached out to me, telling me to get my rebellious sister in line, or they won't be so polite next time." Lemira retorted coldly, "After the car accident the Sinclairs orchestrated, which almost killed me, do you really think they've been polite?"
Evelina, listening in, her eyes flickered.
So, everyone believes the Sinclairs were behind Lemira's accident. That works out perfectly.
With feigned concern, Evelina said, "Lemira, Asher is just looking out for you. Even though you've severed ties with the Langstons, you're still one of them, and that's something you can't change." Alaric chimed in, "Lemira, Asher had a tough time drinking with the Sinclairs at lunch today, all for your sake."
Seeing Lemira's defiant look, Asher fumed, "Remember, it's me, it's the Langstons who cleaned up your mess." Oh, what a grand gesture indeed.
"I didn't ask for your help. You could've easily told the Sinclairs I'm no longer a Langston and that my fate doesn't concern you. Wouldn't that have solved it?"
Lemira's gaze was steady, her presence more formidable.
Asher exploded, "Ungrateful wretch, I'm here cleaning up your mess, and this is the thanks I get?"
Evelina quickly intervened, "Asher, calm down. Lemira is just stubborn. She doesn't mean it, she'll understand eventually."
"Asher, let's talk this out."
Alaric stepped in front of Asher, who looked ready to throw a punch.
"Why are you stopping me? I told her not to come to Orvin for college, to avoid trouble we can't cover for, but she insisted!"
Asher pointed at Lemira, "Do you have any idea how hard I worked to smooth things over with the Sinclairs, and I don't even get a word of thanks!"
Lemira looked up, a sarcastic smile on her face.
So it's the same old story. They scold her, blame her, from their high horses.
She raised an eyebrow, "I didn't ask for this, and frankly, I don't care!"
Turning, she headed down the stairs, no longer wanting to engage.
"Asher, let her go," Alaric said, trying to hold her back, "We need to take her to meet with the Sinclairs in person!"
Asher was furious, thinking Lemira would learn her lesson, but she was as defiant as ever!
Alaric actually ran after her, grabbing her arm, "Wait."
"Don't touch me!"
Lemira pulled away, looking at
Asher,
O you really think a simple

"Or what? You think you can handle it on your own? Ms. Susanna

Sinclair's sister is engaged to Orvin's most influential heir. One word from them, and the Langstons are toast!"

Lemira knew about Susanna's sister's engagement to Orvin's power heir!
Was she supposed to just sit back and wait for doom?
Lemira replied coldly, "I have evidence of the Sinclairs using
Jackson to launder money at the netnovelbin
teambase. They wouldn't dare make a move!"
Having leverage meant having a say.
Asher was taken aback.
Evelina instinctively said, "But Lemira, this means you've completely antagonized the Sinclairs."
"And what? Wait for you all to lord over me, claiming I'm safe only because of the Langstons? Spare me!" Evelina, with a hint of arrogance, said, "But Asher did put in the effort, and the Sinclairs did respect that."
"Stop flattering yourselves. The Sinclairs were just testing the waters at lunch, seeing if the evidence was in your hands."
Lemira looked meaningfully at Evelina, "After all, I have the evidence, I have the leverage. How could they rashly act?" Evelina, remembering Lemira's previous threat, felt uneasy, avoiding Lemira's gaze.
She too had something to fear from Lemira, a silent warning!
Asher's face darkened, realizing Lemira's words rang true.
