Chapter 182

Chapter 182 Stand Up, Maia

“Can you move your legs?” he asked her. Maia nodded. Then, he frowned and said, “Crawl out of here.” He calmly nudged Maia toward the shattered window.

“Cedric...” “Do as | say!” he said, not leaving room for discussion.

Maia knew he must have been injured. She could not do anything while she was still in the car. She had to get out and figure out a way to save him!

She gritted her teeth and crawled toward the shattered window with everything she had. Cedric lifted his hands to help push her legs out of the window. Then, the onlookers standing outside quickly helped pull her out of the car.

At the same time, Baz had taken down the car window on his side and made it out as well. “Where’s Mr. Cedric, Ms. Maia?” Baz was seriously injured as well. He could barely stand. Maia did not answer him. Instead, she put her hand into the place where she crawled out from. “Give me your hand, Cedric!”

He looked at Maia and smiled. He lifted his hand strenuously. His fingers touched Maia’s, but his injuries were too great. His hand dropped onto the shattered glass. He was already badly. injured, but it was worse now.

“Cedric!” Maia wailed. It was right then Cedric caught a whiff of gasoline. He looked at the road and saw that gasoline was dripping onto the pavement slowly.

“Take my hand, Mr. Cedric. I'll pull you out!” Baz got down next to the window and extended his arm. However, Cedric had no intention of taking it. Instead, he said hurriedly, “Get her out of here, Baz!”

“Mr. Cedric!” A lot of onlookers wanted to help him, but they noticed the gasoline.

“It's leaking gasoline!”

“It’s such a hot day today. The car could just catch fire!”

The onlookers backed off fearfully. Flames could be seen at the side of the car!

Maia saw it and started to panic. She started sobbing, her eyes turned completely red. “Give me your hand, Cedric! Now!”

It was clear that she would not be able to save him in time.

Cedric looked at Baz coldly and exclaimed, “Get her out of here!”

“Mr. Cedric!” Baz looked at Cedric, who was still trapped in the car, and hesitated. The flame grew larger. An explosion could occur if it reached the fuel tank.

“That’s an order!” There was no other way. Baz pulled Maia up and tried to yank her away.

“You can’t do this! He’s still in there! We have to save him. We have to. We can’t just leave, Baz!” Maia was having none of it. She continued to reach out to Cedric. She was going to pull

him out...

“We can’t make it, Ms. Maia! Mr. Cedric has given me an order. | have to do as he says!” Baz’s eyes turned red as well. He wanted to save Cedric, but his master’s orders came first.

He knew very well what Maia meant to Cedric!

“He’s going to die. You know what’s going to happen if the flame reaches the fuel tank. How can you not save him? Are you going to let him die in there?” Maia tried very hard to break free of Baz.

Baz lowered his head and said solemnly, “I have to follow his order, Ms. Maia!” Then, he yanked her to a safe spot. Maia looked at Cedric. Her face was very pale and her tears were flowing freely...

“No, Cedric. You can’t die! | hate you and I’m not done with you. How could you die now? | have yet to repay you for all the pain I've experienced and then some. You can’t die! Come out, Cedric!”

He looked at Maia and smiled. She was worried about him.

She could barely stand. She wanted to break free of Baz and save Cedric, but it was too late!

“Cedric!” Maia looked at the blazing car, shaken up. Her legs gave out and she slumped onto the pavement. “No...” Maia looked at the raging flames, and shook her head, “This can’t be happening...”

“Mr. Cedric...” Baz’s voice was trembling too. He had cried his eyes out. He kept wiping his tears with his bloodied arm. No one could tell if he was covered in blood, tears, sweat, or all of

them. As Maia looked at the blazing car, her mind flashed back to the fateful night when the villa was on fire.

She shed her tears for him. She had never thought about asking him to pay with his life, much less when he was protecting her. It was such a heavy price to pay.

“| promised you that I'll give you one more chance. | said | won’t reject you anymore once the dust settles. It was just a car crash. How could you just die?”

Maia sat where she was and zoned out. It was a hot day, but she shivered. She felt cold. It was +15 BONUS

“Stand up. The road’s dirty.”

Out of nowhere, she heard a very gentle voice. There was something wicked in the voice, too. It sounded sc familiar.

Maia seemed to have realized something the next second. She raised her head and found Cedric standing over her. He was blocking the sun and smiling at her.

“Cedric...” Maia could not believe her eyes. Was it really him?

“But... You...”

“Don’t you recognize the guy you hated to the core? Hmm?” Maia still couldn’t believe it. She thought she was hallucinating. “W-Weren't you...?”

“It's going to take more than a car to trap me.” He said calmly. Maia’s eyes turned red again and her tears started flowing freely again.

Cedric frowned and reached out to her.

“Are you just going to sit there, Maia?” He said somewhat disdainfully, but the affection in his tone was unmistakable. She took his hand and gripped it tightly. She wanted to make sure it was really him standing before her!

“H-How did you get out? W—Weren’t you...?” Cedric chuckled, but he looked weak.

“Mr. Cedric!” Baz quickly steadied him, “Your feet...” Maia lowered her head and saw that his pants were drenched in blood. There were even drops of blood falling off from the hems of his

pants.
