You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 181 Probe

Elijah turned around with a cold expression. Elara shrank back in fear and immediately let go of his hand. Elijah softened his stern look and said, “I will let you stay in the company.”

“Really?” Elara couldn’t believe it.

“If Arwen Silverton asks about you…”

“I know,” Elara’s mind seemed to be working well at this moment, “If she asks how you treat me, I’ll say that you treat me very well.”

Elijah made a low sound of agreement.

“How can I get revenge?” Elara asked.

“You first need to gain her trust. I will teach you how to take revenge slowly,” Elijah replied.

“Really?” Elara asked nonchalantly.

Elijah confirmed that it was true.

She was happy and even temporarily forgot about today’s events. Xander stood by with slightly lowered eyes, he could see that Elijah intended to use Elara against Arwen Silverton.

Elijah’s move was ruthless.

“Take care of yourself,” Elijah said before leaving the hospital room. Xander followed behind him and quietly asked, “She saved your life; is it right to use her like this?”

Elijah turned around and gave him a cold sip before saying, “She teamed up with Arwen Silverton; do you think she deserves my protection?”

Xander replied, “Isn’t it because she’s too stupid? She got deceived by someone else.”

Someone who got used by Arwen Silverton ended up losing everything they had worked for themselves – what difference would there be between them?

“Yeah, she ruined my impression of her.” Elijah got into the car.

Xander didn’t hear clearly and asked again, “Mr Silverton, what did you say?”

“It’s nothing.”

With an indifferent tone of voice from Elijah – he obviously didn’t want to talk anymore – Xander also dared not ask any more questions. After being by his side for so long, Xander had gotten used to his coldness.

Freya met Mrs Quinn then went straight to the company.

Zane Stone handled almost all matters in the company. Since that problem last time, people in the company were relatively calm now, and wouldn’t dare act recklessly.

Perhaps when Zane became busy enough, he wouldn’t keep thinking about his mother’s affairs anymore. Freya thought for a while then decided on something. She went home, picked up all relevant documents, and found a lawyer who helped draft an agreement. Then, she took these documents directly back to the hospital.

“Freya, you’re here again? Are you worried about me? I’m really fine.” Zane Stone looked surprised when he saw Freya walk in with papers in hand.

Freya glanced at the table, noticing that Zane hadn’t touched the food. She walked over and cleared it up, saying, “It’s all cold now. We can’t eat this anymore.”

After tidying up the table, she asked him, “What do you want to eat? I’ll go get it for you.”

Zane thought for a moment before replying, “I want dumplings.”

“Okay. I’ll go buy them for you,” Freya replied as she searched online for a highly rated restaurant.

Zane ate one and said with satisfaction, “These are delicious.”

Freya looked at him and knew that his calm demeanor was just an act. She said to him, “If you want to cry, then cry.”

Zane stuffed more dumplings into his mouth without saying a word or shedding any tears. Freya took out some documents and said to him while handing them over, “Take your time reading this later. If everything looks good after reading through these papers then sign them.”

Zane was taken by surprise and looked up suddenly with widened pupils that seemed to contain a hint of shock. He glanced at the agreement and said, “What’s this…”

“Dad always wanted to give the company to you but didn’t because he feared that you might not be able to manage it well due to lack of experience,” Freya explained further while adding, “I went there myself and saw how capable you are, so I decided on giving it all over now since Kai is still young and needs my attention too. And you know, I’m not interested in these things. My dream is to be a good doctor.”

She said these words to tell Zane Stone that she had no designs on the company and would not interfere after handing it over to him. Zane did not feel happy about taking over the company, but instead felt a trace of suspicion. He wondered why Freya was handing over the company to him now.

Did she know that Elijah was responsible for his mother’s death? Was she handing over the company to him now to appease him?

“Freya, I’m still young and inexperienced,” He continued eating dumplings while speaking, “Dad gave everything into your hands because he trusted you more than me, so maybe its better if we let things stay as they are?”

Freya didn’t understand his refusal.

“Zane, your mother and I had some issues, but she’s gone now, we can just forget about the past. Although we were not born from the same mother, we have the same father, so we have a blood relationship. From now on, I will be your family.”

“I’ve always considered you family,” replied Zane.

Freya patted his shoulder reassuringly before saying, “Since we both consider each other family then please sign these papers”.

“Okay.” Agreed Zane.

He took hold of transfer agreement paper which required signature however realizing there wasn’t any pen available nearby. Freya stood up saying, “I’ll find nurse who can lend us one”.

She borrowed a pen and Zane Stone signed his name.

“Freya, if your man and I were in danger at the same time, who would you save?” He looked at Freya seriously.

Freya was stumped by the question. Especially the words “your man” made her feel a little embarrassed.

“You and him won’t be in danger at the same time. Besides, both of you are big men. If you both get into trouble, I definitely can’t save you.” Freya said with a smile.

But Zane didn’t give up. “I’m just using an analogy. If Elijah and I were in danger at the same time, who would you save?”

This was indeed a difficult problem for Freya because Elijah was her lover and they had children together. She couldn’t easily give up on him because she wanted to spend her life with him. Zane was related to her by blood so he was considered her family. She didn’t want to give up on either of them.

“What’s wrong with you today…”

“Answer me.”

Freya joked, “If both of you are in danger at the same time, I won’t save anyone. You’ll have to fend for yourselves.”

Zane felt a little disappointed inside.

“I’m your brother.”

Freya smiled and said, “Yes, yes… you’re my brother.”

She pretended not to hear what he meant.

“I’ll take this,” Zane said as he looked down at what he held.

“It was already yours,” Freya replied.

They exchanged a few more words before Freya left the hospital. She felt that something wasn’t right about Zane’s behavior; she kept thinking about it while sitting in her car lost in thought.

Wasn’t Zane trying to make her choose just now?

After careful consideration though she denied it; after all, Zane wasn’t very familiar with Elijah. There shouldn’t be anything between them that needed testing or probing.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Was everything just something she imagined?

Her phone suddenly rang, indicating an incoming message notification.

Freya picked it up, only to find a photo.
