Chapter 37 A Plan
Elijah took the file from the secretary and frowned.
“This is the driver of the accident?”
He had seen that it was a boy who caused the accident! The secretary didn’t know why Elijah’s expression changed, but she spoke truthfully, “The car involved in the accident is under this person’s name…”
“Does that mean she was driving it?” Elijah got off his hospital bed and stared coldly at the secretary. “The person you found, was it Freya Stone?”
The secretary lowered her head and dared not speak.
“I’m asking you a question!” Elijah was furious.
The secretary had to answer, “Yes.”
Elijah breathed heavily with anger.
The secretary quickly apologized, “I’m sorry for my poor work.”
But Elijah ignored her and walked out quickly.
Liora Valentine blocked him at the door, wanting to see Elijah. After all, there had been an accident but she could say that her child wasn’t involved. Surely even Elijah couldn’t say anything about it.
“Elijah.” She reached out to grab his arm.
Elijah angrily pushed her away. “Get lost!”
Liora Valentine fell directly to the ground with no one paying attention to her. The Secretary hurriedly opened up a car door outside.
While making a phone call in his car soon after leaving Liora behind, he asked, “Do you know where Freya Stone is?”
Orion Russo replied, “Yes I do, I am currently with her at hospital.”
Without saying anything else on phone call with Orion, Elijah hung up abruptly before instructing his Secretary to take him straight over there as wel. l
Soon after arriving at hospital by car, he went straight into Freya Stone’s ward where Orion Russo stood outside waiting for him.
“Freya got pregnant but then miscarried because of something, you should know what happened.” Orion Russo said without any hesitation. He felt like this information needed sharing since Freya wasn’t just anyone -she was Elijah’s wife .
Now that Freya wanted another child so badly, she would surely divorce Elijah.
Elijah’s nervous emotions were instantly replaced by stiffness in all of his facial muscles when hearing this news from Orion.
“What did you say? She’s pregnant?”
Orion nodded solemnly.
Elijah felt like he couldn’t breathe properly anymore; his heart felt heavy.
That woman was pregnant. Whose baby could it be? It certainly wasn’t his since he hadn’t touched her!
“Elijah, hey, you need to calm down. Though she has cheated on you, you have also cheated on Her too, right? Liora Valentine is carrying your child. You guys are even now. Don’t be too angry or blame Freya for everything, just part ways peacefully…”
Elijah pushed him away in anger and grunted, “Get out of here!”
He kicked open the door to the hospital room. Freya already knew he was coming and didn’t have much emotional reaction. She knew that too much emotional fluctuation would only make her unborn child unstable, so she controlled herself well.
“Elijah, let’s get a divorce.” She calmly spoke.
Elijah’s eyes shot out with flames of anger as his chest boiled with fury. His chest rose and fell rapidly as he said, “Divorce? You want to divorce me?”
He stared at the weak woman lying on the bed and felt a momentary pang of heartache. But when he thought about how she had carried another man’s child, he became enraged!
He restrained himself from strangling her and asked through gritted teeth, “Tell me, whose child is it?”
Freya remained calm as ever. “You knew from the beginning that I had other men.”
“You were taking birth control pills! How did you get pregnant again? Did you sneak off to sleep with another man behind my back?” His forehead bulged with veins as he glared at her angrily.
Freya replied calmly yet firmly, “Yes, I cheated on you multiple times during our marriage while hiding it from you. So let’s just get a divorce.”
“Freya Stone!” Elijah’s voice grew louder by degrees until it turned into a roar; his face turned red then purple while his neck looked like it was about to explode under pressure from his hand around hers.
“Do you believe that I could strangle you right now?” Elijah asked furiously.
“I do believe so but I’m not afraid,” Freya replied just as resolutely filled with hatred towards him, “Elijah, I hate you!”
“Because of me mistakenly finding the wrong person and caused your child’s death? Is this why?” Elijah didn’t wait for her answer before continuing, “Even if there wasn’t this mistake happening now or ever, I wouldn’t allow any bastard child near me! If anything happened, I won’t let it live. It’s just right now, and I don’t need to do anything. It seems God doesn’t want you to give birth to a bastard, so he arranged this mistake!”
His words pierced through Freya’s heart like needles one after another.
“Elijah, I hate your guts! I hate you so much that sometimes even wish for your death!” Suddenly Freya broke down into hysterics; not only did she feel hatred but also an overwhelming rage inside her because losing her child made everything worse.
Elijah’s hand around her neck trembled slightly before releasing its grip, slowly.
“Freya Stone,” Elijah said sternly, “Your desire for divorce is nothing but nonsense. The more suffering you experience by my side, the more determined I am to keep holding onto what we have.”
Freya clenched her hands several times before finally calming down.
“Elijah, Liora is pregnant with your child. Don’t you think she deserves a commitment and your child deserves a home? What do you gain from holding onto me?”
“The child is gone due to the accident. So tell me, who was driving the car?” Elijah asked.
Freya widened her eyes in shock.
Liora Valentine’s child was gone?
That was why Elijah was so angry and had someone deal with the driver?
Freya had no emotional attachment to her half-brother, Zane Stone because their existence caused her parents’ marriage to fall apart.
“Zane Stone, Leo Stone’s illegitimate son.” She said.
If Elijah wanted revenge, he could go ahead and do it.
“He will pay for what he did,” Elijah sat by her bed. “Your child is gone now, stay by my side.”
Thinking of the baby in her belly, Freya knew that if she confronted him head-on, she would only lose out. So she compromised on the surface.
“Fine.” Said she.
But this was just a temporary measure because Freya needed to make Elijah let his guard down so that she could escape from under his nose.
Both of them fell silent in the hospital room where even slight breathing sounds were audible in its eerie silence.
After some time passed, Elijah spoke first, “How about your injuries?”
Freya didn’t say anything.
Elijah looked at her and asked, “Why don’t you speak?”
Actually, Freya didn’t know what she could say.
Elijah lifted up her blanket with his hand, which made Freya open up wide-eyed.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m checking on your injuries.” Replied Elijah calmly
“I don’t want you looking at them!” She refused adamantly
Elijah turned red-eyed like an angry panther, which made him look very scary.
“You don’t want me looking at them? Then who do you want looking at them? Your lover? You better not let me find out who they are or I’ll ruin him so that you won’t have another chance to cheat on me!”
Freya looked at him warily, “Do you know something?”
“What?”NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“You’re strange. Haven’t even realized it yourself?” She couldn’t understand why he acted so weirdly around her all of sudden. He even wanted to trap her by his side.
“Aren’t you disgusted by me?” She asked tentatively
Elijah’s expression changed like ever-changing clouds as if realizing something himself. He might have realized that he had been attracted to Freya all along. However, Freya Stone was impure and therefore he couldn’t overcome the psychological barrier. He didn’t dare to admit it. He didn’t want to admit it. Elijah Silverton liked a promiscuous woman like her? It was a joke!
“Of course I’m disgusted by you. Do you think I wanted to see your injuries just so I could see your body? Freya Stone, don’t flatter yourself. I would never like a woman with an immoral private life who even got pregnant!”
Suddenly he leaned down on her, and Freya hurriedly put her hands up against him.
“I’m in pain; don’t get too close.”
Getting closer, Elijah saw faint bruises on her shoulder under the collar of her clothes. He frowned and reached out to lift up her shirt, but Freya quickly grabbed his hand.
“Don’t touch me.”
“If you behave yourself, then I won’t touch you, just take one look at them.” Elijah said.
Freya felt it simply unreasonable!
“So be good,” Elijah’s voice softened slightly as he reached out and lifted up her shirt again to reveal the mottled bruises on her skin.
His eyes showed a hint of pain as he asked in a low voice, “Does it hurt?”
