You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 4 Internship Replaced

She lowered her gaze, proceeding to pack up the medical kit, not forgetting her duty as a doctor. “The wound cannot come into contact with water for now. Disinfect it once a day and wear loose clothing to avoid rubbing against the wound,” she instructed, placing down the prescribed medicines. “This one is for oral consumption, and this one is for external use.”

Elijah didn’t turn around, responding with a faint “Mm.”

Freya Stone didn’t linger, picking up the medical kit and departing.

Later, she took a taxi back to the hospital, reaching it around 11 o’clock. After a quick meal in the hospital cafeteria, she returned to her department, promptly summoned to the director’s office.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

“I’m thinking of sending Liora Valentine to study at Second Military Medical University,” the director announced, his expression grave.

Freya Stone was surprised but pressed, “Wasn’t I supposed to go?”

“All our high-tech medical equipment has been donated by Headence Group. Elijah Silverton personally inquired about Dr Valentine’s situation, so I have no choice but to comply.”

Upon hearing Elijah’s name mentioned, Freya couldn’t help feeling nervous even though she had become Elijah’s wife through mutual recognition between their families; they had never met formally before except through financial magazines or on TV screens.

He and Liora Valentine?

Unease settled within Freya, but she maintained composure, questioning, “Is it confirmed?”

“Yes,” the director assured. “I admire your professional ethics and skills, but this decision comes from above.”

“I understand,” Freya replied quietly, lowering her eyes.

She knew she wasn’t worth mentioning to Elijah. “I have surgery this afternoon, so I’ll be leaving first,” she added, rising from her chair, accepting the unavoidable.

The director sighed helplessly.

After two exhausting surgeries that afternoon, Freya washed her hands, removed her surgical scrubs, and sat down, fatigued.

Liora Valentine entered the room. “Dr Stone,” she greeted with a smile, “Let’s go for dinner, my treat!”

“I still have work to do.” Freya declined politely.

Their relationship was purely professional. Liora had a dominant personality, enjoying the limelight, while Freya preferred a quieter existence. Despite graduating from the same university, they never became close friends.

Liora hesitated. “I actually have something to tell you.”

Freya hung her coat without making eye contact. “Go ahead.”

For some reason, knowing she had a relationship with Elijah made Freya want to distance herself even more from Liora.

Liora lowered her eyes. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know the director would…”

“It’s okay,” Freya interrupted.

Liora glanced around before continuing. “Also, about last night, can you keep it a secret? I’m doing an internship at the main hospital, and I don’t want any complications.”

The reason seemed far-fetched.

Freya, understanding Liora’s tendencies, replied, “I won’t say anything.”

Outside the hospital, the sky darkened, and streetlights flickered on. A black luxury car, with Orion Russo inside, awaited.

“She has pretty good medical skills, right?” Orion commented to Elijah, who sat lazily in the car.

Elijah remembered her calm efficiency in treating his wounds and nodded.

“Miss Valentine,” Xander reminded from the front seat.

Rolling down his window, Elijah observed as Liora Valentine approached.

Orion Russo raised an eyebrow. “Liora Valentine.”

“Do you know each other?” Xander turned around to ask.

Orion nodded. “She’s two years beneath me.”

Elijah lifted his gaze, a glint in his eyes. She saved him last night. Was it she who treated him today?

Xander teased, “Has Cupid finally awakened?”

Orion Russo frowned. “What are you talking about?”

“Mr Silverton,” Liora Valentine interrupted, walking over and halting their conversation.
