You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 56 A Discrepancy in Her Words

Freya was shocked.

When did he come back?

Why didn’t she hear any noise?

And what time was it now?

Why did he come back so early?

Freya struggled a bit, “Why did you come back so early?”

Elijah, upon hearing this, sensed a discrepancy in her words.

Clearly, she had inquired about his schedule at the company, so why was she pretending not to know?

He leaned in, lowering his chin to her shoulder, “I finished work early, so I came back.”

Freya could smell the faint fragrance of shower gel on him.

Had he already taken a shower?NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

She couldn’t help rolling her eyes in her mind. Did he come back because he smelled the fragrance of dumplings?

Elijah buried his face in her neck, his voice deep, “Were you waiting for me?”

Freya was perplexed.

She would be so pathetic if she had been waiting for him, a man who had ever tried to starve her. But Freya couldn’t afford to offend him now. The consequence of offending him would be him tormenting her. For the sake of the child in her belly, she couldn’t confront Elijah directly.

She was like an egg, and Elijah was like a diamond. A head-on collision would only result in her demise.

Freya forced a smile, pushing him away, “You go ahead; I need to fetch some water.”

The water was boiling too vigorously, and scalding water splashed onto Freya’s hand.

It was hot.

Freya instinctively pulled back her hand.

Elijah hurriedly checked, anxiously asking, “Where did you get burned?”

Freya covered her arm, “I’m fine.”

Elijah took her hand away and saw the red mark on her fair skin clearly.

“It’s all red; don’t say you’re fine.” Elijah reprimanded.

Seeing the concern in his eyes, Freya felt something. But she quickly dismissed it herself.

It must be an illusion.

How could he possibly care for her?

She lowered her eyes.

“Fortunately, it didn’t blister.” Elijah said.

Freya only felt a slight stinging sensation, not too intense. She took a bowl to fetch water.

Elijah reached out, took the bowl from her hands, and said, “I’ll do it.”

Freya looked at him, “Can you?”

Elijah felt as if she was looking down on him.

Couldn’t he even cook dumplings?

Was she underestimating him?

Did she think he was a complete idiot?

“Isn’t it just pouring cold water into the pot?” Elijah retorted.

Freya realized he knew these things too.

Since he was willing to do it, Freya didn’t argue with him and handed him the bowl, “You do it then!”

She moved aside to avoid scalding herself. Elijah poured cold water into the pot, and the boiling water immediately settled down. He skillfully picked up the ladle and stirred the pot continuously. Freya wanted to remind him that dumplings shouldn’t be stirred like that as it might break the skin. But thinking that this person was Elijah, she decided not to bother. He probably hadn’t encountered setbacks before, right? Let him have a small lesson, especially when it came to dumplings.

So, Freya leaned against the counter, hands crossed, watching with interest.

It seemed that Elijah also felt something was wrong. All the dumplings in the pot were broken-skin and filling separated. He frowned, as if something went wrong in that process. He turned around to ask Freya what happened, but all he saw was her amused expression, watching him.

Did this woman just want to see him embarrassed?

He simply threw the ladle aside and gave up.

“You do it.”

Saying that, he walked out of the kitchen in a huff.

Freya, “…”

Was he still a man?

He just handed her the mess?

“Hey…”

“I’m only responsible for eating.” Freya had just started speaking when he interrupted her.

Freya was speechless. She couldn’t bear to watch the results of her and Linda’s hard work being ruined, so she walked to the stove and saw the chaos in the pot. This wasn’t dumplings; it was a pot of filling soup.

“You’ve ruined my hard work.”

She spent a long time wrapping those dumplings.

“I’ll eat it all.”

Elijah’s voice echoed in.

Hearing this, Freya’s eyes flickered, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.

Once the dumplings were cooked, Freya took a large bowl and served them. Thin, thick, a big bowlful, she handed it to Elijah. “You said you could finish it. A real man never breaks his word.”

Elijah glanced down at the bowl in front of him. It was served in a soup bowl. Mainly because the dumpling filling was scattered, melted in the soup, and only the dough remained in large chunks, resembling pig feed. It was unappetizing.

Freya laughed, offering him a spoon thoughtfully.

Elijah, “…”

He thought that Freya treated him like this because she didn’t want her efforts to be wasted.

So what if it looked a bit ugly?

He would eat it.

He generously picked up the spoon.

Freya, who originally wanted to see a joke, couldn’t laugh now.

She herself couldn’t even look at it.

He didn’t mind?

Freya was quite surprised.

Linda came over, glanced at the dumplings in Elijah’s bowl, and twitched her eyes.

This… was supposed to be dumplings?

She asked Freya in a low voice, “What’s going on?”

Before Freya could answer, Linda said, “You don’t know how to cook. Why didn’t you tell me? I can do it. Look at the effort we put in this afternoon, turned into this mess…”

Linda didn’t know it was Elijah who messed it up.

Freya took advantage of the situation and said, “Exactly, clearly not knowing how to cook, still pretending, just stupid. Even if you’re foolish, admit it. A well-prepared pot of dumplings has turned into pig feed.”

Linda found something off in Freya’s words. It didn’t sound like she was talking about herself.

“Freya, are you enjoying scolding me?” Elijah slowly raised his head.

Linda quickly made an excuse, “The flowers in the yard, I haven’t watered them yet.”

After saying that, she hurriedly left the dining room, fearing that she might get involved. After all, she knew a bit about Elijah’s temper.

In fact, Elijah wasn’t angry; he liked to see Freya’s clever antics. Seeing her proud, smiling, he asked, “Is this pig feed?”

“Doesn’t it look like it?”

Elijah stirred the bowl with a spoon, sticky and messy. “Indeed.”

“Then why are you still eating?” Freya blurted out.

Elijah looked at her, scooped a spoonful into his mouth, chewed slowly, and after swallowing, he said, “Because you made it.”

Freya, “…”

What did he mean?

Did he want to use this presumed generosity to win her over?

She wouldn’t fall for it!

“Really? If you like it, eat more. There’s more in the pot!” Freya said, turning to go upstairs.

Clearly, she didn’t believe him. But, for some reason, she didn’t dare to look into his eyes, being timid and only able to evade. Her evasive actions appeared shy in Elijah’s eyes.

He raised his lips, “You haven’t eaten yet.”

“I’m not hungry.”

Freya didn’t want to face him. Entering the room, she sat on the bed. She couldn’t figure out why she was avoiding him.

Why was she avoiding?

What was there to avoid?

She suddenly stood up and said to herself, “I haven’t even eaten the dumplings I made!”

Why should that annoying man eat them all?

Her phone suddenly rang. She took out her phone and saw Liora’s number, still saved as Dr Valentine from the hospital days.

Freya knew Liora must have found out that Elijah wasn’t at the company and called her. She pressed the answer button. A roar came from the other side immediately, “Freya, are you playing tricks on me? Elijah isn’t at the company at all!”
