You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 69

Jasper Green also wore a bemused expression, mirroring the surprise that echoed within him.

Elijah Silverton, a well-known eligible bachelor, had long been the talk of the town for his bachelor status, devoid of any known romantic entanglements. His appearances at events were consistently accompanied by a male assistant, making the sudden appearance of a woman at his side nothing short of astonishing.

Izzy Green, her pout reflecting her disappointment, tugged at her father’s arm. “Dad, you promised to introduce me to him.”

Jasper Green, harboring hopes of Elijah Silverton becoming his son-in-law, now faced a dilemma. The unexpected female companion left him clueless about the dynamics, making any hasty introduction of his daughter seem imprudent.

“Izzy, go back first. I’ll find out who that woman with Elijah is,” Jasper Green suggested.

“Dad, you’ve been preparing for today for so long, and I’ve been looking forward to it too. All for the chance to be introduced to him. Giving up now after all this preparation seems like such a waste,” protested Izzy Green.

Her accidental encounter with Elijah’s photo in a financial magazine had ignited a genuine interest in him. She had envisioned becoming Elijah’s wife through her father’s introduction, a plan fully supported by Jasper Green.

Elijah’s abilities had also earned Jasper’s admiration.

“I can’t change that now. Just wait a bit longer,” Jasper Green reassured his daughter.

Elijah’s unexpected appearance with a woman had indeed thrown a wrench into his plans, but in such critical situations, caution was paramount. If the woman turned out to be more than a passing acquaintance, introducing his daughter could portray him as passive.

Izzy Green, biting her lip, appealed to her father, “Dad…”

“Enough,” Jasper Green interjected, “Today, I’m the host and can’t be away for too long. You go back obediently.”

With that, Jasper Green returned to the banquet.

Elijah found himself surrounded by a crowd engrossed in business discussions, topics that Freya struggled to comprehend. She stood quietly on the sidelines, sipping fruit juice whenever thirst struck.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

“Hello.”

Izzy Green, defying her father’s advice, opted to investigate the relationship between Freya and Elijah herself.

Freya, looking up at the elegantly dressed girl, offered a polite smile. “Hello.”

Izzy Green, with a smile, inquired, “Mind if I join you here?”

Freya nodded, “Feel free.”

Observing Freya’s discomfort in such social settings, Izzy Green surmised her infrequent attendance at such events.

“I’m not a fan of these gatherings. Between us, what they’re discussing is quite dull,” Izzy Green confided, approaching Freya with a friendly demeanor.

Izzy Green, adept at initiating conversations, continued, “I rarely attend such events.”

“How about taking a break outside? I can show you around,” Izzy Green proposed.

Freya glanced towards Elijah, still encircled by people, realizing that the discussions would continue for a while. As a professional in the medical field, business matters held little interest for her.

Seeing Freya’s hesitation, Izzy Green persisted, “Why not? We’ll be back soon. Their conversations won’t wrap up all at once.”

Freya agreed, “Okay.”

Izzy Green flashed an innocent smile.

“Let me share a secret. I know this place well.” Izzy Green grinned, “There’s a rose garden nearby. Let me take you there.”

“It might be too far.” Freya hesitated.

“Oh, the flowers there are breathtaking. Let’s go and take a look. We’ll be back soon. It’s not far,” Izzy Green insisted, leading Freya along.

After a brief stroll, Freya caught the scent of roses. Descending a rugged path, they arrived at a vast expanse of roses. It was Freya’s first encounter with naturally growing roses. Unlike the ones neatly arranged in flower shops, the vibrant red hues against lush green leaves captivated her.

“This place is stunning,” Freya remarked.

“If you like, pick a bunch to take back. Let me find scissors for you,” Izzy Green suggested.

Declining, Freya replied, “Thank you. Let them bloom freely here; that’s when they’re most beautiful. It’s getting late. Let’s go back.”

As she turned around, Izzy Green stopped her, “I still have another place to show you.”

“We should go back,” Freya insisted.

“Oh, we’re here. Just take a look!” Izzy Green forcefully pulled Freya.

Unable to break free, Freya reluctantly followed.

“What do you want me to see?”

“Here,” Izzy Green pointed to the ground.

Freya peered down into a dark opening, unable to discern its contents.

“Ah!”

Izzy pushed her into the cave, and in that moment of descent, Freya instinctively shielded her stomach. Izzy finally revealed her true intentions. All the prior friendliness was merely an act. Regardless of Freya’s relationship with Elijah, Izzy felt that this woman couldn’t stay. Freya’s allure was too captivating, and Izzy couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy. Elijah would likely be drawn to such beauty, and she wanted Freya gone.

“What’s your relationship with Elijah?” Izzy Green’s voice echoed.

Freya, struggling to see in the darkness, covered her belly.

“Are you Elijah’s girlfriend?” Izzy Green pressed.

Freya, comprehending the situation, wondered if this girl had approached her because of Elijah. Was she one of Elijah’s admirers?

“We don’t have any relationship…”

“You’re lying. If there’s no relationship, why would he bring you to such an occasion? My dad said he never brought a woman before. You’re the first one. Yet, you say there’s no relationship. Are you really not lying?” Izzy Green accused.

Freya was taken aback.

Elijah had never brought a woman to such an occasion before?

“You don’t have to tell the truth. No one will find you anyway.”

With those words, Izzy Green departed.

Back at the banquet.

Elijah turned around, only to find Freya, who had been seated in the corner, gone. He scanned the area, but she was nowhere in sight. Declining the offered drink, he queried the waiter about Freya’s whereabouts.

No one had seen her.

Elijah promptly instructed his secretary to search for her. It was then that he realized Freya was missing.

“I’ll send someone to find her,” Jasper Green declared.

Given that the disappearance occurred on his premises, he felt compelled to take responsibility.

Elijah, his frustration evident, asserted, “I’ll check the surveillance.”

“This is my private estate, so there’s no surveillance. A person should be easy to find. Don’t worry.” Jasper Green assured.

Jasper Green saw his daughter going out with Freya Stone. So he didn’t dare to show the surveillance footage to Elijah at all.

Elijah, having noticed hidden surveillance devices upon arrival, now heard a conflicting claim.

Was Jasper Green lying?

“Is that so?” Elijah’s voice carried a chill, “In that case, the security on your territory is not good. If something happens to my people here, Mr Green, you will have to answer for it!”

Jasper Green, sensing Elijah’s discontent, hastily assured, “I’ll have people look for her!”

Elijah harbored no trust, swiftly exiting while contacting his secretary, “Get more people to search.”

Simultaneously, he initiated a personal search.

In a sudden twist, something caught his eye on the ground!
