Chapter 18 Her Smile Is Enough
The girl's innocent and tender voice carried a warmth as pure as her bright grin, melting the sadness in Sierra's heart.
Sierra reached out, accepted the bouquet, and gently patted the girl's head. "Thank you."
“Are you feeling a bit happier now?" The girl's eyes sparkled as she asked with a sweet smile.
Sierra nodded, her own expression softening. She reached into her bag, took out some money, and placed it into the girl's hand.
The girl quickly shook her head. “No! I don't want money. This bouquet is my gift to you."noveldrama
"This is my gift to you, not payment for the flowers, but a gift in return for yours. Use it to buy something you like. In return, I hope you'll feel as happy as you made me. Does that sound fair?"
Sierra's voice was gentle and reassuring, so the girl hesitated before finally accepting, her cheeks turning a faint shade of pink. She lowered her head shyly. “Do you know what chamomile symbolizes?"
Sierra shook her head. "Why don't you tell me?”
The girl nodded and answered earnestly, “Chamomile's meaning is ‘strength in adversity and resilience against hardship'.
"According to legend, chamomile was an offering to the Sun God and was also known as the moon's healing herb in ancient civilizations. So, miss, if you ever face difficulties, don't be afraid. Stay strong, and you'll overcome them."
Sierra nodded with equal seriousness. “Thank you, kind little girl. I'll be strong."
“No need to thank me, beautiful Miss! I'll be off now. I hope you stay happy every day. Goodbye!"
The girl flashed a bright grin and waved before running off.
"Bye-bye.” Sierra waved back, watching the girl's retreating figure. She then lowered her gaze to the bouquet in her hands.
The delicate flowers resembled tiny suns, and the coldness in her heart seemed to dissolve, replaced by a soothing warmth.
The world was still full of kindness and beauty. She didn't need to chase after the light anymore. She could be her own sun, radiating brightness.
Sierra felt an inner strength rise within her. She stood up, cradling the bouquet in her arms, and walked away with renewed determination.
Not far away, a man stood silently under the shade of a tree, his dark eyes quietly following her figure as she left. His thin lips curved into a faint, almost imperceptible smile laced with quiet affection.
The girl who had given Sierra the flowers skipped up to him, tilting her head as she spoke. “I gave her the flowers! She was so happy and smiled at me!" Theo drew his gaze back and looked down at the girl. He knelt and said, “Thank you. You did a wonderful job."
The girl flushed with pride at his praise, but she suddenly remembered the money in her hand and held it out to him. “Sir, this is the money that lady gave me. But you already paid me, so I can't keep this."
Theo's calm voice carried a soft but firm undertone. "She gave it to you, so it belongs to you now."
"If it made her smile, that's enough for me," he said gently, his gaze distant.
The girl blinked in confusion but couldn't help asking curiously, “Sir, if you like that lady so much, why didn't you give her the flowers yourself? And why didn't you let me tell her that it was from you?"
A ripple of emotion stirred in Theo's usually calm and unreadable eyes. His lips curved slightly as he spoke in a quiet but resolute voice.
"Right now, I don't have the right to give her flowers myself. But one day, every bouquet she receives will come from me.” His words were steady and filled with conviction.
The girl didn't fully understand the depth of his meaning, but she giggled sweetly and said, “Sir, I hope you win her heart soon!"
