Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1410

"I think I've seen the dawn of victory..."

Stroking the cards in his hand, the man's face was flushed with pride. With a faint smile, Waverly also began stroking her card as she looked at them nervously. Wyatt had just caught a glimmer of hope, but he did not expect Waverly to so casually toss out a good card. He unconsciously stopped her.

"Hey."

Unfortunately, it was too late, and his warning could not be heard over Mr Andrews' excited office. "I have

a double! My, Miss Castle, are you that impatient about losing?"

Without a sense of urgency, Waverly slowly grazed her finger over another card before tossing it out into the open with a faint smile. "My apologies, Black Jack!"""

She had played a hand of Black Jack, effectively becoming the winner of the game.

What a hand, indeed!

Everyone was instantly dumbfounded. Even Wyatt could sense that something was amiss. Did she deliberately toss the previous card out to bait the other player?

Did she get lucky, or had this been her plan all along?

Although she flashed a faint smile, Waverly's palms were pooled in sweat. She was in accounting and had

a talent for computer science. Not only was she great at numbers, she had an incredible memory. Whatever she wanted to remember, she would. Thus, she played a couple rounds to get the lay of the land, did some probability calculations in her head, and discovered what was needed to win.

All it took was great mental effort for her to win!

After this revelation, it did not take long for Mr Andrews' mountainous pile of chips to be reduced to a tiny hill. Just as everyone thought that they knew how things would end, the tables turned again and Mr. Andrews started winning round to round. The two men had thought that Waverly stood a chance if Mr. Andrews was to go easy on her, but it seemed that he was likely to emerge the final winner.

Behind her, gasps were heard across the room. Apart from Wyatt, even the two men started to sweat. If Mr. Andrews won this round again, that was it for Waverly.

The two wanted to take a break, but Waverly unexpectedly tossed out another card that was not in her favor.

"Hahaha, I won. My luck has returned!"

The man immediately got up and pulled Waverly over. "Let's go. You said you'd do what you promised!" Wyatt simultaneously grabbed Waverly's other wrist. "Waverly!"

"You can't take her!"

Without waiting for Mr. Andrews' retort, Waverly pulled away from him. "Mr. Johnson, if you' re willing to bet, then you must be willing to lose too. You cannot control everything, no?"

Her soft but piercing response instantly made Wyatt realize that she had lost to Mr. Andrews on purpose! She had so many tricks up her sleeve all because she wanted him to understand one thing - that she could win, she just chose not to; that she was the one calling the shots of the entire game!

She had deliberately lost!

She was angered because she had been made his bet and bait earlier, even though this was not his initial intention!

As he held Waverly in his arms, Mr. Andrews laughed and kissed her on the cheek. "I like it!"

Wyatt's eyes were filled with gales and stormy waves, but before he could react, Waverly had already blocked the man's second offense. She smiled as she casted Wyatt a glance.

"Mr. Andrews, even if you don't save my face in front of so many, at least you should save your own, right?"

Waverly gently tugged at his shirt and said in a soft voice, "Let's go somewhere else! They're not paying me either; it'll be a loss for me to show off right here."

She winked after saying that which immediately made the man laugh. "Alright, we'll do as you please. Let's go!"

With Waverly in his arms, the man was dizzied with joy. "Thank you, Mr. Johnson! Take what you want! I'll take care of your business!"

As he got up, he had not forgotten tonoveldrama

push the red box towards Wyatt. The box swished across the table and grazed against the hand that was resting.at the edge of the table. Wyatt's Kand jerked upon the impact from the box, as if he had been scalded by something. His heart felt like it had been pricked by a poison-coated needle. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a slim figure walking by him and a pair of red-tinted lips, curved up in mockery. His fingers were still on the red coloured box, but he was unable to utter a word.

Silence engulfed the crowd, and it seemed no one dared to even take a breath as they watched the two leave.

One did not need to look at Wyatt to know that his face looked furious at the moment.

Grabbing the box on the table, Wyatt turned around and strutted out of the door with Seth quickly tailing behind-

One glance was all it took to know that Mr. Andrews was a pervert. It didn't take long for him to start

getting touchy with Waverly. As soon as they exited the entrance of the East Bannpool City, all he wanted was to take her to the nearest hotel.

Waverly knew exactly what he wanted!

She smoothly pulled herself away

from his grip, but before she could make a sound, two dark figures appeared at the door. Wyatt was looking right at her. She was in such a sorry state; her black jacket had been ripped, her skirt torn. Similarly, Waverly also caught the gloominess in Wyatt's eyes. Her lips unconsciously curved sarcastically.

She suddenly remembered the sweet text exchanges from the Jade Cup Competition from the night before. Alicia's words swam in her mind, "At any given time, women only have themselves to rely on!"

At the time, they admired the life she

led and kept asking her why work so hard when she already had happiness in the palm of her hands. Even her good friend, Victoria shared the same sentiment. However, she told them that there was nothing wrong with what she was doing. Men were just icing on the cake; at any given time, women only have themselves to rely on! She even bluntly said that even though she enjoyed her current life, she had readied herself to leave at any time!

At this moment, Waverly lamented to herself.

Even though she did not pin much hope on him, she was no longer the person she used to - the person

who carried all the burden on her shoulders. This time, she no longer felt the pain!

All men were unreliable; what was to say about a man who was not close nor related to her?

Perhaps her mentality had changed. Although the present Waverly was a mess, she was emotionally

stable.

Upon seeing Wyatt and Seth, Mr. Andrews controlled himself and said with a smile, "Are you leaving, Mr. Johnson? Thank you for your sacrifice!"

While speaking, he even made a show to snake his arms around Waverly's waist.

Darkness pooled within Wyatt's orbs. He shot a cold glance at Waverly and said through gritted teeth, "You're welcome, though I really should be thanking you instead."

"See you then."

"See you!"

As the two parties walked by one another, Wyatt hopped into his car with large strides. A black light flashed across, leaving behind a trail of sultry gray smoke, which rippled in the night with the wind...
