Chapter 134
Although their office buildings were just a stone's throw apart, Janice and Edward hadn't crossed paths for nearly 20 days.
Janice later heard from the vice director that Edward had been away on a business trip abroad.
Meanwhile, Prosper Stitch Group's newly established double-sided crochet team was beginning to take shape.
The seamstresses trained diligently every day, with Yvonne staying late to ensure their progress was on track. After reviewing the submitted work, Janice called the vice director. "This batch is ready for mass production." "Understood, Ms. Smith!"
This was a milestone as Prosper Stitch Group had never before mass-produced double-sided crochet.
Janice made her way to the Double-Sided Crochet Department.
"Ms. Smith!"noveldrama
Hundreds of seamstresses paused their work and fixed their attention on Janice, who stood confidently in her tailored business attire.
"Alright, everyone. I know it's been a hectic period, but let's power through before New Year's. The batch isn't large, and overtime pay will be doubled. But it's completely voluntary, so if you'd rather leave early, feel free to head home. Once we finish, I'll give you all an early holiday break to enjoy New Year's," Janice announced.
As soon as she finished, not a single seamstress hesitated. Who would turn down overtime under such generous terms?
Yvonne stood tall and reassured her, "Don't worry, Ms. Smith! We'll ensure top-notch quality!"
"Good. Keep up the excellent work."
As soon as Janice left, the room buzzed with conversation.
"Ms. Smith is looking more beautiful every day."
"I know, right? She's so much more confident and radiant than back at Refined Threads Co. She used to work herself to exhaustion and still got yelled at by Simon back then. It was hard to watch."
"I really hope she and Mr. Moore are a couple. They'd make such a powerful team!"
"I'm not concerned with her personal life. All I know is that wherever Ms. Smith goes, I'm following her!" Many of the seamstresses had already made up their minds—they were loyal to Janice for the long run.
A loud bang reverberated through Fitzgerald Residence.
Consumed by rage, Simon smashed every piece of cookware Amelia had touched, his fury spilling over with each shattered item.
The living room was a complete wreck. Helena stayed silent, too afraid to speak.
As the year end approached, Simon
was overwhelmed with financial
strain and was desperately scrambling to cover his debts. With Heidi still in the hospital, there was no one to help him. His frustration was suffocating.
That wretched woman, Amelia, was nothing but a burden.
"Simon... Why don't you try reaching out to Janice?" Helena ventured cautiously, moving a little closer.
"And why the hell would I do that?" Simon shot back.
"She has money now, doesn't she? Besides, this house is mortgaged to her. If you swallow your pride just a little and say something nice, maybe she'll come back and help."
At her suggestion, Simon's mind flashed back to better days—Janice picking him up after work and then preparing a warm bowl of soup at home.
When it came to being a devoted partner, Janice had been second to none. And beyond that, she had the ability to manage an entire department with ease.
Now, looking back, Amelia didn't even come close.
The living room was swallowed by a thick, oppressive silence.
Simon wouldn't admit it, but at that moment, a flicker of regret crept into his heart.
If he had kept Janice around, she
would still be here-cooking, cleaning, and taking care of him
without a single complaint. She never wasted money, worked
tirelessly, and was more thaniel
attractive enough to make a good impression wherever they went.
Why the hell had he been so stupid to choose Amelia back then?
Despite the bitterness gnawing at him, he quickly forced a frown. "She's with Edward now. I doubt she'll be so easy to manipulate."
Helena clicked her tongue. "Please, she used to love you to death. Just say a few sweet words and she'll come running back!"
Standing nearby, Sarah nodded
eagerly. "Exactly! Janice was always easy to coax. Every time you apologized, she forgave you
immediately. Just swallow your net
pride, sweet-talk her a little, and shett be handing over moneyand doing all the dirty work before she even realizes it. She'll help you ride this out."
The more Helena thought about it, the more convinced she became.
With a chuckle, she added, "That's right! And once your problems are solved, you can just toss her aside again. Even if she gets mad, what can she do? You've got way more connections than she does!"
What do you think?
