Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 16

The next day, Simon rushed to Refined Threads Co.'s branch office when he received a call from HR.

Janice had come to complete her resignation procedures. Though she didn't particularly care about the unpaid salary, she was now finding pleasure in doing things that made Simon uncomfortable. In the past, she would have gone to great lengths to avoid upsetting

him

"Ms. Smith, the financial department is working on the salary issue, but...”

It wasn't that they didn't want to pay Janice or were holding up her resignation. She was, after all, the vice director and the second-largest shareholder of Refined Threads Co.-her departure wasn't something they could decide on their own.

"Double the vice director's salary and pay her."

That would be about ten thousand dollars,

"The staff from the finance department looked at the newcomer. "Mr. Fitzgerald..."

"Leave us."

The finance director closed the door on the way out.

So the rumors about a fallout between Simon and Janice were true! Janice was really leaving. The news spread quickly to the factory workers, leaving the seamstresses stunned.

Their boss was leaving Refined Threads Co.?

In the office, Simon glared furiously at the bracelet on Janice's wrist. It was a bracelet made from a silk brocade with emerald inlays, and one could tell how expensive it was just from the craftsmanship and quality. Simon was convinced Janice had really run straight into an older man's arms. This vile woman!

Janice noticed his rage but felt no discomfort. Instead, she relished it. "Please transfer my salary to my account, Mr. Fitzgerald."

"What salary?" Simon, blinded by anger, spat viciously, "You've been working for me for free! You are made to work tirelessly for nothing! And now you're not only doing that, but you're also selling yourself to an old man, right? Janice, how could you be so disgusting"

The sound of the termination contract being thrown at Simon's face was like a resounding slap. The contract fell to the ground, and Simon saw the title on it clearly.

Termination? Was she planning to join another company? Did the old man she found arrange a job for her? This wicked woman!noveldrama

"Hurry up and sign it."

"You have to pay the penalty!" Simon, perhaps out of jealousy or something else, couldn't help but shout,

"I will"

She had enough savings to pay the penalty, though it would leave her with almost nothing.

“Janice, I never thought you would stoop so low. Just because of money, you-"Simon was already convinced she had used an older man to gain status.

In the past, his venomous words would have deeply hurt her. Now, she felt only hatred, hatred for him and for her own blindness.

Janice sneered, deliberately goading him. "That's right. Even if I rely on an old man, even if I serve him, I'd rather do that than serve you. At least an old man would understand and appreciate me.

"Simon, do you even realize how selfish you are? You're like a stray protecting its bone. How utterly worthless."

"You!" The enraged Simon raised his hand to strike her, but Janice blocked him with surprising strength. Taking advantage of his surprise, Janice shoved him hard and stood up, glaring at him.

"What right or reason do you have to get mad at me? Do you really think I loved you that much? Just look at your greedy, insatiable self.

With that, Janice opened the door. "If you don't pay me my salary. I'll report you to the authorities, Imagine the news of Refined Threads Co. withholding employee wages what do you think will happen?”

“Janice, you played a part in building Refined Threads Co. as well. How can you be so ruthless?"

Her? Ruthless? Simon's ability to play the victim was likely inherited from his mother.

Since he was unreasonable anyway, Janice couldn't be bothered to argue with him. Instead, she simply mimicked his way of speaking Then, couldn't you just pay me my salary?”

After all, this was the same man who once refused to transfer money to save her brother's life unless she apologized.

"You. You!" Simon trembled with rage.

Janice flashed him a triumphant smile and walked out.

"Ms. Smith...”

"Ms. Smith... Are you really-"

Janice offered the onlookers a faint smile. “Perhaps we'll work together again someday."

The moment she stepped into the elevator, her smile instantly disappeared. Janice desperately wanted to sleep-just sleep and think

of nothing, but she couldn't stop now.

The thought of Simon using her hard-earned money to lavish Amelia while continuing to abuse his position in Refined Threads Co. company she had built with her own two hands-made her blood boil.

She had to keep moving. She needed to stand against Simon as soon as possible.

Standing outside the main entrance, she looked up at the towering sign of Refined Threads Co. If she could build it, she could tear it

After leaving Refined Threads Co., Janice went to visit Jacob. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, a cacophony of voices reached her ears.

"Do you really think your son is so great? Great men don't switch brides at their weddings! He's a backstabbing scumbag – karma will get him sooner or later!

"And stop constantly using what Mr. Fitzgerald did for me against us! Have my sister and I not done enough over the years?

"We've worked tirelessly for you all, yet you treat us like slaves! When you celebrated New Year, you made us eat in the basement because you said we were jinxes! Can you honestly say you did no such thing?”

It was Jacob's ley voice.

“If it weren't for my husband, where would you be today? You owe us your lives!

"Instead of gratitude, you're trying to take my son's money? You and your sister should have just died with your mother, and stop harming others!" Helena's curse was deafening.

Someone roughly pulled at her shoulder, startling her. She turned in shock, only to meet Janice's sharp gaze.

"Janice-"

"What did you just say?"

Sarah interjected, "What are

are you trying to do? Are you going to hit an elderly woman?"

Amelia faked a cough and, upon seeing other people around, pretended to mediate, “Janice, don't be angry. We came with good intentions to visit your brother, but your brother wants to kick us out."

“I'm asking you—what were you spouting just now?" Janice pressed on, stepping closer toward Helena. Helena had never seen Janice like this before. As far as she could recall, Janice was always soft-spoken and submissive. When had she ever dared to defy Simon or them?

"You're disrespecting me! Simon will be furious with you when he finds out!" Helena threatened. Janice had an indifferent expression. “Even if he dies from anger, what does that have to do with me?" Her demeanor was terrifying. Even Sarah didn't dare raise her voice anymore. “Janice, you.....” Janice abruptly grabbed Sarah by the hair, her eyes bloodshot, causing the latter to scream. She had been more than patient with this family, but they were still pushing their luck!

When Helena saw her daughter being pressed against the ninth-floor window, with the autumn wind rushing in, she was so scared that her legs went weak

"Janice! Don't you dare!"

“Why wouldn't I dare?” Janice smiled chillingly. “I have nothing now. Your son has taken all my assets, my house has been seized by your whole family, and all my efforts over the years have been in vain. What do I

have to fear?"

She made sure to speak loudly, knowing there were people filming nearby. And besides, Helena was terrified of death. Feigning a desperate, do-or-die attitude was enough to scare her.

If they had only bothered her, she would have put up with it. However, no one could touch her brother-not

even once.

"What... Who are you guys?"

Just then, a group of men appeared out of nowhere in the hospital corridor. Without a word, they grabbed

Helena by the collar and Amelia by the hair.

One of the men said coldly, “The hospital is no place for troublemakers."
