Chapter 15
Over an hour later, the vice director of Melody & Loops Creations stepped out of a high-end the directors of the business department and PR departinent in tow.

"Ms. Smith, we truly admire your talents. As long as you are willing to honor us with your presence, you can rest you need for work will be met to the fullest extent," Hugo said with a smile.
"When you come to Solterra, your living arrangements, meals, and all daily needs will be handled at an executive level. You won't need to worry about any of the trivial matters."
Daring the dinner, Hugo proposed an offer that included a seaside property, a luxury car, and a salary twice the market rate.
The benefits were undeniably generous.
Janice realized that her participation in international competitions under her cousin's name had become common knowledge among industry glants. She didn't deny it. Since Simon had forced her out of Refined Threads Co., she would have to bring her A-game to carve out a new path for herself.
While seeing Janice off, Hugo didn't stop trying to persuade her. “We'll be eagerly awaiting your positive response, Ms. Smith." Janice declined their offer to send her home since she didn't have a permanent residence at the moment.
As the taxi door was about to close, the PR director of Melody & Loops Creations placed a gift box in the back seat.
Janice didn't even have the chance to refuse. She glanced down at the gift box–it looked very expensive. For some reason, the gift made her think of Simon again.
During their years together, she had to get approval before spending money. If she bought too much, she'd get criticized. Moreover, Simon never gave her any expensive gifts.
Back then, she was still blinded by love and thought that Simon was just being frugal and practical. But it was finally clear to her when she saw all of Amelia's lavish accessories and possessions. It turned out that if a man did not love a woman, he would not do anything for them because he thought the woman was not worth it.
How laughable.
The first valuable gift of her life came not from love but from a company trying to recruit her, Janice felt a certain closeness to Melody & Loops Creations.
Her late mother's work had always been purchased by them. In a way, her mother and Melody & Loops Creations had worked together to raise her and her younger brother. It was this connection that made her seriously consider their offer.
Nonetheless, she still had to take back what was hers from Simon's clutches. Moving to Solterra would make
that inconvenient.
"Ms. Smith? I'm bere. You don't have to rush-please take your time," Matilda called again,
Janice said she'd be there shortly. She wasn't naive—on the contrary, she was quick to grasp the situation.
Matilda's frequent outreach and assistance weren't just acts of kindness. It was clear that Prosper Stitch Group wanted to recruit her as well.
She soon arrived at the designated restaurant. When Janice opened the door, she was surprised to see a third person in the private room. She'd seen the man at the hospital in Dapville.
Edward glanced her way and, surprisingly, stood up. “Good evening, Ms. Smith.
The esteemed senior executive of Prosper Stitch Group was personally dining with her.
Janice never thought of herself as particularly capable, so when meeting someone like him, she always maintained a modest
demeanor. This humility was one reason why so many business leaders in Greenfield City liked her. With minimal makeup, her appearance was clean and elegant. Her faint smile carried an unreadable chill.
"Mr. Moore?" Janice wanted some confirmation.
Matilda explained, "This is my brother, the CEO of Prosper Stitch Group. He's been busy with work overseas for the past few years, but now he's back. That's why he's here to personally dine with you."
After taking her seat, Janice said, “Thank you for your help the other day, Ms. Moore. I'd like to toast to you." “Oh, there's really no need for that." Matilda laughed.
With that, Matilda picked up her phone and excused herself. "I'm stepping out to make a call."
As soon as Matilda left, Janice began to feel uneasy. She had only heard of Edward before, this was her first time meeting him.
He didn't look like a nice guy. At the very least, no one w
would guess he worked in the crochet industry.
Edward's sharp eyes carried an occasional gleam of ruthlessness. His voice was steady as he said, "Ms. Smith, I'd like to get straight to the point."
Janice chuckled lightly. "Go ahead."
“I'm aware that several companies are vying to recruit you, including Melody & Loops Creations. Prosper Stitch Group has also expressed interest in working with you before, so this shouldn't come as a surprise.”
This was just the beginning.
Janice took a sip of her drink and listened quietly.noveldrama
"However, Melody & Loops Creations is based in Solterra, and as far as I know, your brother studies in Dapville, which is even farther from their headquarters. That's my first point. Secondly..."
Edward paused for a second. "Refined Threads Co. is still in Greenfield City."
Janice immediately looked up.
"I have no intention of prying into your personal affairs, but photos of your altercation with Simon on the street were taken and circulated. I had Matilda suppress them."
Janice held her breath. “Thank you both for doing so."
Edward's penetrating gaze made her heart skip a beat-it was as if his eyes could see through her soul.
"Ms. Smith, if you are willing to join Prosper Stitch Group, we'll double any offer Melody & Loops Creations has made. Moreover, any strategies you wish to use against Refined Threads Co are entirely up to you-no need to consult me. On top of that, your brother can join Prosper Stitch Group's senior management after graduation."
Jacob studied economies and finance. He had chosen this field in hopes of helping his sister negotiate deals and handle business matters after graduation.
Getting into Prosper Stitch Group's senior management was no easy feat. Edward was essentially giving Jacob a VIP pass.
Was his offer tempting? Very. While the other benefits were impressive, what truly swayed Janice was Edward's mention of taking on Refined Threads Co.
Her silence lasted only briefly.
"Mr. Moore, you may not fully understand the conflict between me and Refined Threads. I hold shares in Refined Threads, and per my contract, I'm prohibited from joining a competing company.”
"We'll cover the penalty for the breach of contract. And regarding shares..." Edward paused before adding another bombshell. “If you join us, I'll sell an 8% stake in Prosper Stitch Group to you."
An 8% stake in Prosper Stitch Group was equivalent to a 20% stake in Refined Threads Co! And that was just
at the moment. If Prosper Stitch Group's valuation continued to grow, then in the future...
Though Janice was curious how Edward could privately sell shares, the offer was too good to refuse
The choice between Prosper Stitch Group and Melody & Loops Creations was clear. Janice raised her head. "When would you like me to
start?
"Edward
"Anytime." I
"Alright."
got up. "Matilda has given you my business card. Contact me when you're ready to start."
Their discussion was concise. After finishing the business talk, they parted ways without any small talk.
On the taxi ride back to the hotel, Janice still felt a little dazed. Yesterday, she was still with Retined Threads Co., but today, she had already finalized her entry into Prosper Stitch Group with Edward.
Life, indeed, was unpredictable.
That night, Janice tossed and turned, unable to sleep, but she wasn't the only one. Elsewhere, Simon drank alone in his villa, drowning In frustration. Also, in a villa at Horizon Residences, a man stood under the glow of
a balcony lamp, smoking in quiet solitude.
What do you think?
