Chapter 24
Castiel left Jamison Manor and returned to his office.
His assistant, Lucian, entered and greeted him. "Mr. Jamison."
"What's the situation?" Castiel asked solemnly.
"We've managed to suppress the news. But due to the timing, many people have already seen it," Lucian explained, referring to the divorce agreement being leaked.
Jamison Group had taken strong measures to suppress the news when it first came out.
However, even though all the reports had been taken down, the entire city of Greenburg was still buzzing with gossip..
Castiel's expression darkened as he massaged his aching forehead. He asked again, "Has she been found yet?"
The sky outside had completely darkened. Ever since the news about Niamh divorcing him blew up, he hadn't been able to contact her.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Catial had to instruct his men to search for her. He had assumed that she'd just gone out like
usual, but there wasn't a single transaction notification on his phone all afternoon.
To make things worse, Lucian added, "There's still no news of Mrs. Jamison."
As his words fell, the atmosphere in the office became even more depressing. Castiel closed his eyes briefly and ordered, "Continue the search.
Even though the negative sentiment against Niamh had been averted, there would still be some malicious people out there who might harm her. She wasn't safe being alone outside. Lucian nodded and left the room.
Once Castiel was alone in the office, his phone buzzed. He glanced at the number and answered, Hello,"
Someone spoke over the line.
"Yes, it's me," Castiel replied.
The other person quickly stated the purpose they were calling.
"Alright. I'll be there right away." Castiel hung up and left the office in a hurry. The call had come from the hospital.
While news reports could be suppressed and withdrawn, there was no way of controlling people's thoughts. The whole Greenburg was now gossiping about Castiel's private life and wondered which of his lovers had Macy been in conflict with that resulted in her current state.
All the speculation was damaging their reputation. Nevertheless, the Jamison family's wealth shielded them from any tangible harm. Even so, Renee no longer dared to show her face in her usual social circle out of shame.
Everyone was now dying to see Niamh. Macy, everyone in Jamison Manor, Castiel, and countless reporters hoped to have a word with her about the current situation.
Yet, Niamh seemed to have vanished into thin air. Three days passed without any news of her. Finally, Castiel tracked down and approached Billie
"Where is she?" His tone was sharp. At this point, with the way things were between him and Niamh, he had no patience for her friends either.
Niamh had pushed for divorce previously. Now, she was pulling the vanishing act. Castiel thought she had gotten way too bold. When he found her, he would make sure she paid for it.
He thought getting information out of Billie would take some effort, but to his surprise, Billie didn't hide Niamh's whereabouts from him. "She left the country."
"Left the country?"
"After everything that's happened, do you think she'd be foolish enough to stay in Greenburg and let people tear her apart?"
There was no doubt that Niamh had made a smart move.
A cold light flickered in Castiel's eyes as he shot Billie a dangerous glare.
Unbothered, Billie casually smoothed her hair and responded mockingly, "She received countless threats while she was at Maplewood, but what did you do? Were you waiting for her to come crying to you when those people wanted to rip her apart? She's your wife. But how did you treat her?"
The air seemed to freeze at this point.
Castiel had never expected Niamh to leave the country at a time like this. She went away, leaving behind chaos in Greenburg. He couldn't quite believe she was capable of this.
"Where did she go?" Castiel asked, ignoring Billie's words. All he cared about at that moment was where that damn woman had run off to.
Billie stood up.
