CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1497

The next morning, Ben opened his eyes. He immediately noticed the blanket covering him. Could Jamie have been the one taking care of him last night? He sat up, only to see Winnie sleeping on a makeshift bed on the floor.

"You're awake? You were so drunk last night that you passed out on the way home. It was a struggle just getting you here. I even tried to wake you up for some tea to help sober you up, but you were completely out," Winnie said as she woke up, too. After straightening up the living room a bit, she went to the kitchen and came back with a mug of warm herbal tea. "I'm guessing the hangover's mostly gone, so you probably don't need anything strong. But this will soothe your throat." "You don't have to go through all this trouble," Ben replied, placing the mug on the coffee table without drinking it.

Ben looked around the room. It was just the two of them. Where had Jamie gone?

The thought nagged at him, so he asked directly.

"Jack, I'm not sure if I should say this..." Winnie hesitated but finally decided to bring it up. "Why are you so concerned about my sister?"

Maybe he didn't see anything wrong with it, but to her, it was unsettling. What he brushed off as nothing, she couldn't help but notice.

"You're my fiancé, and Jamie is our sister. I appreciate that you care about her as family, but I feel like there should be some boundaries. She's just staying with us temporarily, and she has her own life. We don't need to worry about her so much." Ben's eyebrows knitted slightly. Was Winnie trying to tell him what he could or couldn't do?

"So, are you saying I'm just making trouble?" he shot back.

"That's not what I meant. Please don't take it the wrong way. I just think we should focus on our own lives, while she focuses on hers. We should really be putting our attention on our own home.” Winnie hurried to explain, worried he would be upset.

Ben grew more impatient as she spoke. "Alright, I have to get to work. Let's drop it."

"Fine," Winnie said reluctantly. "I'll tidy up here. Try to come home early tonight, okay? I found a few new recipes online, and I'd love to make

them for you." This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

She watched him leave with lingering reluctance, then went to the kitchen to make breakfast. Once it was ready, she brought it upstairs to Jamie's room. "Jamie, try a bit of my cooking," she offered with a smile.

"You've gotten so much better. This could rival restaurant food," Jamie said, half-joking, half-serious.

Winnie laughed, but there was more

on her mind than compliments. After Jamie had eaten most of the meal, she spoke up. "By the way, didn't

technically a breach of contract. He should have refunded your deposit and the rest of the rent, plus some compensation. Did he?"

"No," Jamie replied, shaking her head.

That was just an excuse she had made up. In reality, it was Ben who had pressured her into moving out, not her landlord.

The landlord had actually been understanding and even refunded her deposit out of kindness, given her situation with a child. There was no breach of contract.

"Well, if you didn't get it back, I'll cover it. You shouldn't have to deal with that on your own," Winnie said, pulling out her phone to transfer her the money.
