I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 119

The Couple About to Divorce

"It's her ex-boyfriend. She only agreed to marry me back then to make that man give up on her."

Benjamin slouched on the sofa, taking a big gulp of his drink. The thought weighed heavily on his mind, leaving him feeling utterly frustrated.

He thought, "She kept insisting that she had nothing to do with that man, even claiming she had forgotten about him and would never look back. If that's the case, why push for a divorce now?

If it's truly because of Lauren, then why didn't she show any concern from the beginning?

It's all just an excuse on her part."

Benjamin's mood was gloomy. His words were filled with displeasure. "Everything she's been showing is just an excuse to get back to that man."

Larry inquired, "Have you ever met this man?"

"No."

Benjamin never wanted to, not ever.

Larry suggested. "How about we investigate who this ex-boyfriend is? What kind of person is he to make Harper, such a beautiful woman, keep him in her thoughts for so long?"

A clear look of displeasure appeared on Benjamin's face as he glanced at Larry.

Larry explained, "I just want to highlight Harper's excellence, not coveting her beauty. As for checking on this ex-boyfriend, it's just to see what kind of person he is. I'm concerned that Harper might be deceived. Typically, the more beautiful and outstanding a girl is, the poorer her judgment."

Benjamin fell silent, picking up his glass for another drink.

However, Larry's words about beautiful women and their judgment sparked an inexplicable twinge in his heart.

He remained silent for a long time, neither agreeing nor refusing to the idea of investigating.

The growing dissatisfaction towards Harper weighed heavily on his heart. Benjamin felt that Harper was deliberately provoking his patience. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

Larry noticed Benjamin's continuous drinking and figured if he wanted to drink, he might as well drink his fill. So, Larry kept refilling Benjamin's glass.

They drank until almost midnight. Benjamin was starting to feel dizzy, but Larry remained sober, observing.

Taking advantage of Benjamin's inebriation, Larry asked, "Do you really like Lauren?"

"Is liking her important?"

"If you don't like her, why do you keep her around? Is it because she took the hit for you, leading to a year-long coma? Are you keeping her around out of gratitude? Larry pressed.

"Some things can't be explained in just a few words," Benjamin replied casually.

Larry frowned and said earnestly,

"Benjamin, listen to me. If you want to maintain your marriage with Harper and prevent her from having any second thoughts about divorce, you need to completely distance yourself from Lauren. If you're worried about feeling guilty, compensate her with money and fame, but make a clean break. If you love Lauren, then stop holding onto Harper. Everyone should part ways amicably. Isn't that good for both of you?"

Benjamin fell silent once again.

Larry didn't say anything more. Analyzing other people's situations was always easier, but when it came to one's own, it was a different story.

After a long while, just when Larry thought Benjamin wouldn't respond, he replied slowly, "Good for both of us, parting ways amicably... it's never that simple."

Having drunk too much, Benjamin was eventually assisted into the car by Larry and the club's bouncers.

He lay in the backseat, eyes closed and motionless. Larry, sitting in the front passenger seat, glanced back. When the driver approached, he said, "As your buddy, I'll help you out. Don't say I never thought about you."

Then Larry instructed the driver with an address.

After a half-hour drive, the car came to a stop in front of an apartment building.
