I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 145

She thought, "Well, he may not be worried about it, but he sure is not taking it seriously."

Lily didn't reply to Benjamin because Harper had just finished her work and was packing her bag. She looked at Lily and asked, "Lily, have you decided what to eat later?"

Lily nodded. "Let's go have steak. We girls need some romance, too."

The phrase "we girls" amused Harper, thinking, "Lily is really with it."

She agreed, "Okay, whatever you say."

Harper left the office holding Lily's hand and told Sophia, "I might not come back this afternoon. If there's anything, look for Mr. Parker."

Sophia nodded in agreement.

As Harper passed by Frank's office, she said to Lily, "Lily, wait for me a moment."

"Sure," Lily replied.

Harper walked to Frank's office and knocked on his door. "Frank, I'm leaving the office. If there's anything, just call me."

"Okay, go ahead, drive safe," Frank smiled. His voice was gentle.

Harper smiled back and then left the company with Lily.

As they rode the elevator downstairs, Lily casually probed. "Harper, is this Frank, your partner?"

Harper nodded without much thought. "I've known him for many years. We're also good friends." "Oh, I see," Lily murmured.

She wondered, "Benjamin is taking this too lightly. How is he going to compete like this?"

She asked again, "Does he have a girlfriend?"

Harper was stunned, subconsciously looking at Lily. "I don't think so."

"Still single?" she echoed, her gentle expression slightly stiff.

Harper asked, "Lily, is there something you want to say?"

Lily shook her head. "I was just thinking, he seems nice. It would be a pity if he didn't have a girlfriend. I know many girls around me who are still singles. If it's okay, I can introduce someone. What do you think?"

Harper sighed and explained, "I don't think so, Lily. If it's meant to be, it'll fall into place on its own. But if we stick our noses in, I'm worried he might get the wrong idea and feel awkward about it. So, let's just drop it, alright?"

"Okay, I understand. It was just a passing thought. Don't take it to heart."

"Okay."

They drove to an upscale restaurant.

Lily had already made a reservation for a window seat.

Once seated, Harper pushed the menu toward Lily. "Lily, why don't you do the honors?"This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

"What do you feel like eating?"

"I'm fine with anything."

Lily ordered two servings of corn chowder, a salmon salad, two steaks, and dessert.

At this point, Harper said, "One steak needs to be well-done."

The waiter seemed a bit surprised. "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure."

The waiter nodded and then took the menu away.

Usually, the steak was best served medium-rare or medium. Well-done was quite rare.

Harper took the initiative to explain to Lily, "Lily, my stomach hasn't been feeling great lately, so I need to stick to well-cooked food."

"It's okay, as long as you like it. What suits you best is the most important," Lily said. She didn't mind at all.

As Lily finished speaking, her phone rang.

She picked up her phone, glanced at the name on the screen, and smiled, "Hello? What's the matter?"

Her tone was gentle, with a hint of knowingness.

Not knowing what the other person said, Harper only heard Lily say, "I'm having lunch. What do you want?"
