At some point, Emyr had appeared outside the door, his strikingly arrogant face curved into a smirk. "What's this? Even Mrs. Nelson wants to lecture me now?"

Olympia's face instantly darkened.

Emyr didn't bother hiding his ridicule. "What makes you think Leah would receive the same praise as Charmaine just because she stepped on stage? Do you seriously believe she's on that level? You, of all people, should know what her piano skills are like."

Right in front of so many people, his blunt disdain made Leah's face go completely pale.

Emyr leisurely continued with his taunting. "Besides, you and Mr. Nelson just became the biggest joke of the night. And what does that have to do with Charmaine? Did she mention you on stage? Did she say you were her parents? All Master Field said was that he wanted to invite her parents up. You two were the ones who jumped to conclusions and embarrassed yourselves. Charmaine didn't even call you out for pretending to be her parents, yet you dare to blame her? If all of Eragos is laughing at you, isn't that exactly what you deserve?

"And not only that but after humiliating yourselves, instead of reflecting on your actions, you come backstage to pick on a young girl? One joke wasn't enough, so you had to hand-deliver yourselves for a second round of public shame?

"With a disgraceful person like you, no wonder your daughter turned out the way she did. What a tragedy for the Nelsons."

Olympia and Leah were speechless.

Charmaine was almost ready to applaud him on the spot.noveldrama

Even Kane, who had leisurely followed behind to enjoy the drama, couldn't help but clap in satisfaction.

Mr. Emyr's ability to defend his wife was unmatched-he could send someone into a rage-induced coma just by talking!

Even the backstage staff found it incredibly satisfying.

That was brutal!

Olympia's face was already beyond salvageable. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as if she might pass out from sheer fury.

And when she glanced behind her, seeing the mocking looks from the growing crowd-Kane and his group, plus all those lower-class workers who could only run errands backstage, all pointing and whispering about her-her shame and anger hit their absolute peak.

She had no dignity left. Ultimately, she could only drag Leah away, slipping out of the crowd like a defeated strays.

Emyr wheeled himself over to Charmaine, catching how her eyes practically sparkled at him. He smirked. "Seriously? You just stood there and took it? You don't know how to talk back?"

Charmaine blinked. The makeup artist lightly touched her face before she went on stage, adding a hint of shimmer to her eyeliner. Up close, she looked even more radiant, her expression playful and lively.

Che nursed her line giving her oum defence "If you hadn't shown in

those would've haan my lines"

Emyr raised a brow. "So now it's my fault for stealing your thunder?"

Charmaine's eyes twinkled mischievously. She bent down slightly, lowering her voice, "Not exactly. Since Mr. Emyr helped me out, I saved my breath. I should be thanking you."

The backstage area was noisy, so she leaned in a little closer to make sure he heard her praise.

The sudden proximity made her bright, smiling gaze practically crash into his. It was as if she had slipped right past his defenses and landed straight in his heart. Emyr's eyes darkened slightly. "Sweet talker. What, you angling for a reward?" Charmaine's eyes lit up. "Is there one?"

Satan chuckled mysteriously. "We'll talk when we get home."

Olympia didn't return to the event. She stormed out, gripping Leah's wrist, and went straight to the parking lot.

The moment they got in the car, everything she had been holding in burst out. She covered her face and sobbed uncontrollably.

She couldn't bring herself to look up. Every time she did, she felt like she could see countless familiar and unfamiliar faces all laughing at her.

Seeing her like this, Leah's expression flickered with something dark. She recalled how, just earlier, they had instinctively tried to step onto the stage and take a picture with Charmaine.

They had already cut ties with her. Charmaine was the one who got Milo killed. And yet, for a moment of glory, they had actually wanted to acknowledge her as their daughter again.

Everything they suffered tonight was entirely their own fault.

Leah took a shaky breath, swallowing the lump in her throat. "Mom, don't cry. Charmaine isn't worth it."

Olympia ignored her. Leah reached out and grabbed her arm, trying to comfort her.

But Olympia suddenly shoved her away.

Leah crashed against the car door with a muffled yelp of pain.

The sound jolted Olympia back to her senses. She instinctively looked up-only to see the deep red marks on Leah's left hand, where she had squeezed too hard in her earlier rage. Beads of blood were already forming along the scratches.

Olympia was horrified. She grabbed Leah's injured hand, tears of guilt spilling

down her face. "You foolish child, why didn't you tell me I hurt you?"
