Lenora and Zachary Chapter 506
Chapter 506 Did I Actually Say That
That very night, Sophia went out for a feast with Lenora.
She was overjoyed and accidentally drank a few more glasses than she intended. Her cheeks flushed a vivid red, and she began to let loose. On the way back, Sophia slept through the entire car ride.
"Hmm?" She rubbed her bleary eyes, yawned, and glanced at the view outside the car. "Are we home? Nora, why aren't you getting out?"
"How do I get out?" Lenora asked with a slight smile.
When Sophia lowered her gaze, she saw herself clinging to her like an octopus.
She gave a shy smile, releasing Lenora.
Once inside the elevator, Sophia rubbed her forehead and asked, "I didn't do anything strange, did I?"
"No."
"Thank God..." Sophia exhaled.
"You only gave Zephyr a call."
Sophia was taken aback, her breath catching in her throat. Unable to remember what she had done, she quickly asked, "Did I say anything inappropriate?" "No."
Before Sophia could catch her breath, she heard Lenora say, "You just sang a few songs for him."
"What did I sing?" Sophia's heart tightened with worry.
"Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."
"And?"
""Humpty Dumpty."
Sophia nearly lost her composure. "A-And?"
"Baa, Baa, Black Sheep."
"Enough," Sophia said, massaging her forehead. "Why didn't you stop me?"
"I did... but you called him again, complaining that I was bullying you and stopping you from calling him."
"I'm leaving Earth. Goodbye."
Sophia pulled out her phone, glancing at the first entry in her call history.
The contact was Zephyr, and the call had lasted thirty-seven minutes.
She began to reflect in silence. What exactly did I say to him during those thirty-seven minutes?
Will he think I'm superficial? Obsessed with money? A gold digger?
Should I explain to him?
Sophia typed out several messages to him but ended up deleting them all.
Never mind, I'll just pretend I don't know!
Suddenly, Zephyr's phone call came through.
Startled, Sophia took a deep breath before answering the phone. "Hello?"
"Have you reached home?" Zephyr's deep voice rang out.
Sophia held her breath, collected her thoughts, and feigned ignorance. "Yeah... Wait, how did you know I was outside?"
""You called me."
"Really? I had a few drinks, so my memory's a bit hazy. If I said anything offensive, please don't take it seriously."
"Why would I? You only talked about secretly selling the mansion to fund a few pretty boys just to get back at me. How could I possibly take that seriously?" Sophia's mind went completely blank.
Zephyr continued, "By the way, you mentioned wanting to see how much the mushroom has grown."
"What mushroom?"
Sophia froze for a moment.
Zephyr remained silent.
He didn't say anything, yet it seemed as though he did.
Suddenly, the realization hit Sophia. She was dumbfounded, and her heart momentarily stopped.
"No... No way... Did I actually say that?" Her face reflected sheer despair.
If she had wings, she'd have vanished from the face of the Earth by now.
"Do you want to listen to the recording?"
"No, no, thank you."
Zephyr's magnetic chuckle resonated through the phone.
Sophia's cheeks were as red as blood as she struggled to keep her voice steady. "Thanks for your concern. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now. Goodbye." "Get some rest, and remember to tell your parents tomorrow that I'll be joining you for lunch," Zephyr said with a smile.
"Okay, goodbye."
Sophia hurried to hang up the phone, her face flushing as if she had a fever. She collapsed onto the couch, closing her eyes in embarrassment.
She was naturally born with a great deal of curiosity.
That day, he had declared he had "grown up." Out of sheer curiosity, she wondered about his current size, and nothing more.
In this aspect, she had always been bold. Back in high school, she was the one who took the initiative to explore the origins of human life.
Yet, by voicing it in front of Zephyr, it appeared as though he had always been on her mind.
I shouldn't have drunk so much!
Sophia splashed her face with cold water, significantly reviving her senses.
After freshening up, she pulled out the property purchase agreement, took a picture, and sent it to Evelyn.
Evelyn thought Sophia had taken out
a loan to buy a house. She called her up. "Sophia, why did you suddenly buy a house? And it's in River Creek Residences. How much did you borrow? What about your place in Nova Residences?"
Sophia chuckled. "Mom, I didn't buy it. It was a gift from someone else."
After a pause of two seconds, Sophia asked, "Sophia, weren't you planning to marry Zephyr next month?" "Yeah."
"Then how could you possibly accept someone else's house?"
"Right, why would I ever accept a house from someone else?"
Evelyn was momentarily stunned, then asked in disbelief, "Did Zephyr give you this mansion?"
"Mm-hmm!" Sophia nodded fervently.
"Full payment?"
"Yup!"
"Where did he get all that money from?"
"Well, it's not like he stole it or robbed a bank. Your daughter found you a son-in-law who can make a good living. Aren't you happy about that?"
"Of course I'm happy. Zephyr has
been so good to you, and he's evennoveldrama
gifted you a mansion. In the future, he'll be handling the company affairs. You'll need to be more considerate of him."
"Yeah, yeah, you're already starting to speak up for him."
Evelyn chuckled helplessly. "Hey, I just want you two to have a long and lasting relationship."
"Oh, by the way, we'll be coming home tomorrow afternoon to discuss our wedding plans."
"Okay."
Evelyn grew more and more fond of her future son-in-law. Though she had some reservations about their upcoming wedding next month, every last bit of doubt had now vanished.
The following morning, after freshening up, Sophia made her way to the kitchen, where she found Lenora busily washing mushrooms.
At the thought of something, she cleared her throat and asked, "Nora, what are you making for breakfast?"
"Mushroom soup."
Sophia almost choked on her own saliva. "Why the sudden urge to make mushroom soup?"
"Weren't you craving mushrooms?"
"Me? When did I ever crave mushrooms?" Sophia asked, pointing to her nose in surprise.
"Perhaps I misunderstood.
Yesterday, when you were drunk and called Zephyr, I overheard you
saying something about a
mushroom growing. I thought you
were craving mushrooms.
Sophia was stupefied.
Oh God, how am I supposed to look at mushrooms the same way again?
Lenora looked at the dazed Sophia. "So... are we still eating these mushrooms?" "Yes... No..."
"Are you going to eat or not?"
"You decide." Sophia darted out of the kitchen.
Lenora was confused.
What's going on with her?
In the morning, Zephyr arrived to pick up Sophia for their visit to the Tortell residence.
Upon receiving a phone call, Sophia made her way to the underground garage, where she found Zephyr's car. She opened the passenger door.
Almost instinctively, she stole a glance at the bulge in his pants. She got into the car and shut the door, all in one smooth motion.
"Let's go," she said expressionlessly as she buckled her seatbelt.
"Okay." Zephyr started the car.
Halfway through the journey, he suddenly blurted out, "It's probably hard to tell with clothes on."
What do you think?
