Lenora and Zachary Chapter 512

Chapter 512 Abandon Me

Just as Jasmine was about to get up and leave, Isla called out to her, "Wait."

"Anything else?" Jasmine turned her head to look at Isla.

Isla opened her mouth, but then she said, "It's nothing. You can go now. Just don't forget what you've promised me."

She initially wanted to caution Jasmine that Lenora was pregnant. If she wanted Lenora to step aside, then this child simply could not be allowed to exist.

However, a thought crossed Isla's mind. The woman before me is Lenora's mother, after all. What if she finds out Lenora is pregnant and, out of sympathy, changes her mind?

Isla chose to keep that matter to herself, letting the mother and daughter continue their squabble.

After leaving the police station, Jasmine gazed into the distance, her eyes reflecting a serene depth. She let out a deep sigh of relief and glanced at her assistant nearby. "Let's go back," she said. The assistant silently nodded, following closely behind her in measured strides.

"Don't share today's events with anyone, especially not Bertram, got it?" Jasmine shot her assistant a sidelong glance, her voice icy with an underlying threat.

"Understood," the assistant hastily responded. "Well... Mrs. Hoffman, are we heading back to Jeahron now or..."

The plan was for Jasmine to return to Jeahron after arranging for Summer's non-custodial sentencing.

The assistant speculated that the plans might have changed then.

Sure enough, Jasmine said, "Let's head back to the hotel. We can discuss leaving in a few days. Can you look into what Lenora has been up to lately?" Lenora seemed as if she was born just to oppose her.

"Yes."

Upon the assistant's cue, the ringtone of Jasmine's phone promptly sounded.

She pulled out her phone from her bag, glancing at the caller ID. With her well-manicured thumb, she swiped across the screen. "Hello, Summer?"

On the other end of the phone, Summer's voice sounded hoarse and dry. "Aunt Jasmine, has the application been completed?"

"Don't worry. It's all taken care of. Is there anything else?" Jasmine's voice was gentle.

Ever since discovering her pregnancy and being released from the detention center, Summer had become quiet and withdrawn. She was visibly downcast and gradually lost weight, her entire demeanor appearing gloomy. Jasmine watched with a heavy heart. Normally, she was careful not to upset her, speaking in soft, gentle tones, expressing her deep affection and concern.

Had it not been for Lenora, how could Summer have ended up like this? Jasmine's dislike for Lenora grew increasingly in her heart.

"Aunt Jasmine, you need to come back immediately. I have something important to tell you." Summer's voice was heavy and serious.

Jasmine paused, her voice soft as she negotiated, "What's going on? Summer, I have some matters to attend to here. It might cause a delay for a few days. Would it be all right if I return home a bit later?"

"Aunt Jasmine, this matter is of utmost importance. It concerns the cause of my parents' death. If my parents hadn't left earlier in your car that year, you could have been the one in that accident. Don't you want to know the truth behind that car crash?" Startled, Jasmine quickly asked, "What did you find out?"

Although the car accident seemed like a regular traffic incident on the surface, she had always found it very peculiar.

At that time, her situation was challenging. There were too many people who didn't want her to marry into the Hoffman family. Anyone could have interfered, so the incident could only be classified as an accident.

"It's hard to explain over the phone, Aunt Jasmine. Come back, and I'll tell you. What could possibly be more important than this?"

After careful consideration, Jasmine finally said, "All right. I will go back now."

After hanging up the phone, she said to her assistant, "Let's head back to Jeahron first."

"Okay."noveldrama

"Aunt Jasmine, you're finally back!"

Jasmine held Summer's hand, soothing her, "Summer, calm down. Take your time. Tell me. What exactly happened? What did you find out?"

With a numb expression, Summer said in a low voice, "Aunt Jasmine, Zachary is Uncle Bertram's illegitimate child."

Jasmine was taken aback, her mouth agape. "Summer, what nonsense are you talking about?" she asked.

"It's not nonsense."

Summer curled up the corners of her lips, but her eyes lacked the same mirth, casting a shadow over her entire demeanor. "I heard this myself, from a conversation between Uncle Bertram and Ezekiel," she revealed. Jasmine stared at Summer in shock as if trying to detect any signs of deceit from her facial expression.

A few silent seconds passed, yet she found nothing.

A hint of cold mockery flashed in Summer's eyes when she saw Jasmine's bewildered expression, and she said sarcastically, "Aunt Jasmine, do you still remember how Uncle Bertram treated Zachary and Lenora?"

Jasmine lowered her gaze, reflecting

earnestly. The surprise in her heart

hadn't yet faded, but she was

gradually beginning to believe what Summer had said. Some of the previous uncertainties have been answered. No wonder! After Zachary personally met with Bertram, Bertram told me to return to

Sr. It wasn't that he didn't

want to be at odds with the Fuller family, nor was he intimidated by them. The truth is that Zachary is his illegitimate child. No wonder Bertram has always been trying to get me to acknowledge Lenora, hoping to bring Lenora into the Hoffman family. It's not because Lenora is exceptionally outstanding. It's because Lenora is his daughter-in-law. Perhaps Zachary isn't aware of his own identity, or maybe he knows but refuses to return to the Hoffman family. Therefore, Bertram wants to use Lenora as a conduit to bridge the gap and strengthen his relationship with Zachary.

Upon seeing Jasmine's expression, Summer knew she had come to understand.

"Aunt Jasmine, would you abandon me because of this?" Summer anxiously gazed at her with a lonely look filled with anticipation.

Donovan's health was poor, and the age gap between him and Ezekiel was too wide. Without any support from his maternal family, he stood no chance against Ezekiel, no matter what.

Lenora was Donovan's older sister.

Hence, if Jasmine had other intentions toward the Hoffman family, she could have easily reconciled with Lenora. She could have mediated the relationship between Bertram and Zachary, joining forces with Zachary to challenge Ezekiel, thereby acquiring more benefits for herself and Donovan.

Yet, Summer and Lenora could not coexist.

That was why Summer asked Jasmine that question.

With tender affection, Jasmine gently took Summer's hand. "Don't worry. I won't do that."

Even if she desired, given Lenora's indifferent nature, she would never agree to it.

"Aunt Jasmine, you're so good to me."

"Speaking of which, what does this have to do with your parents' death?" Jasmine steered the conversation back.

"I only found out recently too, Aunt Jasmine. Can you guess who Zachary's mother is?"

Given that Zachary's father was Bertram, it meant he wasn't actually the child of Ronald and Madeline. Nevertheless, he was raised in the Fuller residence.

"It was Zachary's aunt. His aunt is actually his biological mother." A flash of understanding lit up in Jasmine's mind, her tone filled with certainty.

However, prior to that, there hadn't been any interaction between the Hoffman and Fuller families. Jasmine didn't have much knowledge about the Fuller family. She only knew that Zachary's aunt was named Tamara, who lived abroad all year round, and it was she who initially adopted Harrietta.

"That's right. It's Tamara. She

interfered with Uncle Bertram's

marriage and was involved in the

death of Ezekiel's mother..." Summer

recounted the grudges between

Tamara and Bertram, her tone growing increasingly resentful. "Ever since Mrs. White passed away the Hoffman family cut off contact with the Fuller family. Tamara was sent overseas, while Zachary was registered under his uncle's name. The Fuller and Hoffman families kept this matter tightly under wraps. Had I not overheard a conversation between Uncle Bertram and Ezekiel, I would have been completely in the dark. I wouldn't have been able to trace the clues back to the cause of my parents' death."

"Was Tamara involved?"

"Yes, Aunt Jasmine. You might not be aware, but Tamara is a stubborn and willful individual. She settled abroad out of necessity back then. She could never forget Uncle

Bertram, always hoping that honet

would bring her back from abroad. However, who knew that Uncle Bertram would meet you? She couldn't bear it, so she tried to hire

someone to kill you, staging it to look like a car accident. However, she never expected that..."

Summer choked back a sob before continuing, "Aunt Jasmine, you know very well how my parents treated you back then. Tamara was after you, and they took the hit for you. You must avenge them. We can't just let their deaths be in vain!" Jasmine's fists slowly tightened. "I understand. Give me a moment to think."

Tamara wanted to harm her and had caused the death of her brother and sister-in-law. Jasmine certainly wouldn't let the matter rest.

However, Tamara was the mother of Zachary, whom Isla adored, and they even had a child together.

This matter still required careful and lengthy planning.
