Chapter 3311
"Dear, who was it?" Alice rolled over when she heard the phone ring and sat up too, leaning toward her crying son to pick him up.
"Don't pick him up, love. If you do, he won't want to drink the formula I made for him." Clive hurriedly stopped his wife. "The kiddo's really fussy. Once he smells you, he'll refuse to drink his formula."
Alice saw that Clive had already started preparing the formula, so she did not pick their son up. It was fine for him to cry a little.
"Gabe called and said a few elderly men came by looking for Mom. Apparently, they're the ones Mom's been looking for all this while," Clive said as he made up a bottle of formula. "I don't know if it's true, but I asked Gabe to receive them first. Once I've fed Elias, I'll head downstairs to take a look."
"Is the person Mom's been looking for that really capable guy who assisted your grandmother back in the day?" Alice knew all about Audrey's family background and the grudge against the Fisher family. She also knew that Clive had arranged for people to help Audrey look, but to no avail.
After all, decades had passed, and even though Audrey vaguely remembered what they looked like, they would not look the same anymore. Plus, if they were still alive, they would be in their nies.
Alice and Clive were pessimistic when it involved an elderly person who was almost a centenarian and privately thought to themselves that he probably had passed away a long time ago.
However, not wanting to dash Audrey's hopes, they still did their best to help look for that person. Who knew? There might be a miracle—just like when everyone said it was hopeless regarding Audrey's search for her sister over decades, but she still finally managed to find her two nieces, which provided comfort to Audrey.
Ever since their reunion, Alice felt that Audrey was much more spirited than before. Although Audrey still wanted to avenge Tiara, Alice felt that she was not as anxious and desperate about it as when she was looking for her sister; perhaps because there were others to share the burden now. Things were going smoothly for Liberty in Jensburg. At least, her company had successfully been established. She had also gotten quite a few deals and her company was constantly hiring. It was precisely because there was plenty of business that they needed to hire.
Alice had not quite believed it when others said that the Fishers' daughters were all very impressive, but now-although Liberty easily set up her company in Jensburg with the investment of three major companies-Liberty had to rely on herself to get deals. The fact that she managed to strike so many deals showed that she was indeed capable.
Perhaps it really was hereditary, just like how Audrey had worked hard to earn her boss's trust and reliance despite growing up in an orphanage, finally earned the admiration of her boss's son, and got married to him. Alice had heard a lot about how her mother-in-law dominated the business world when she was young and had a lot of admiration for her.
Audrey was bullied by Clive's grandmother when she first got married but never pressured Alice with her position as her mother-in-law after Alice married into the family. She said that she had suffered enough and did not want to put Alice through the same pain too. They got along so well like they were mother and daughter.noveldrama
Clive finished preparing the formula, walked over to pick up his crying son, and soothed him before feeding him the formula. The baby was so hungry he no longer cared if it was his mother's milk or formula. Now that he finally had something to drink, he gulped it down.
"Yeah, but I don't know if it's true. We'll have to wait for Mom to get up and meet them, but even she might not be able to recognize them.”
When tragedy struck Tiara's family, Audrey was only eight years old. Decades had passed, and even if Audrey had a good memory, she probably could not remember what Tiara's old assistant looked like anymore.
"They probably wouldn't dare to lie to us," Alice comforted. "Hopefully, he is the man we're looking for. Everyone won't have to keep looking so hard then. Maybe you could ask if Julian has any news and check with him if the people who came today are the real deal?"
Clive hummed in agreement and said, "I forgot about Julian."
