Chapter 170 Last-ditch Effort
Allison wasn't mad at Helena's insults; she just watched her with a smirk.
"Helena, let's get one thing straight. It's not me clinging to Alexander; it's Alexander who won't let go of me. And by the way, when it comes to money, I'm not far behind Alexander, and that's not even counting the Bennett Group. Do you know why I took back the Bennett Group?"
Allison's smile turned icy as she looked at Helena. "Because you don't deserve it. The Bennett family's wealth was built on the Bishop family's back. Valencia supported the Bennett family, which is why Preston has the life he does today. But what did he do in return? He caused the death of Valencia's son and ruined Jasper. So why should I let him continue to enjoy life? But I must admit, I'm not as ruthless as you. The upbringing of the Ember family is truly shocking!"
Allison's goal today was to find out why Preston had gone mad. Now that she had her answer, there was no reason to stick around.
Seeing her about to leave, Helena panicked. "You must have a way to save Jasper, right? After all, Jasper is Valencia's grandson; you can't just leave him behind!"
Allison paused and turned to look at Helena.
She was surprised that Helena remained loyal to Jasper despite everything.
"You want to save Jasper?" Allison asked.
Helena quickly nodded. "Yes, I want to save him!"
Allison studied Helena for a moment. It didn't seem like she was lying; she genuinely cared for Jasper.
Allison stated, "Jasper's crimes are serious; no one can save him."
"You can! Allison, if you save Jasper, I'll give you Preston's belongings!" Helena pleaded.
Helena's words didn't move Allison because she didn't believe Helena could actually produce those items.
"Helena, if you really had those things, you would have taken Cade and left long ago. Why would you give them to me?" Allison questioned.
Seeing Allison's skepticism, Helena hurriedly assured her, "I'm telling the truth. I have the key to the safe deposit box. As long as I get the password, I can retrieve the items! If you save Jasper, I'll take them and leave the country forever. We'll never come back, Allison!"
This was Helena's last-ditch effort. With Preston gone mad, relying on the Bennett family was out of the question. Jasper was her only hope.
Should she save Jasper? Allison turned to look at James, who had been standing quietly by the door.
James was holding his phone, streaming the conversation to Alexander.
When Allison turned, Alexander's voice came through the earpiece. "Take Allison away. Don't agree to any conditions."
James, wearing an earpiece, nodded slightly to Allison, indicating she should leave. Understanding James' signal, Allison left without another word.
Helena tried to follow, but James blocked her.
"Ms. Ember, please keep your distance, or we won't be so polite," James said, making Helena even angrier.

"Allison, why did you come here? Just to tell me Preston went mad?" Helena asked.
Allison turned back and smiled.noveldrama
"That was the plan, but now it seems pointless. You and Preston are both selfish to the core. I thought you might feel some guilt, but clearly, you don't. Here's a tip: the only man you can rely on in the future is your son, not Jasper."
No matter what, Cade was a Bennett, and Jasper's son. Even if Helena's status was awkward, Hayden would ensure they had a way to survive. Allison couldn't understand Helena's obsession with Jasper.
After leaving Helena's place, Allison called Alexander.
"I want to go to school, just letting you know," Allison said in a very obedient tone, which pleased Alexander.
He didn't care about his surroundings and spoke softly, "Learning to behave, huh? Let James go with you. With him there, no one will give you a hard time! And remember, come straight home after you're done. No wandering around!"
The conference room fell silent. Moments ago, several department heads were arguing over a proposal. But when Alexander's phone rang, he signaled for silence, and everyone obeyed.
Then they heard Alexander's unusually gentle voice, which gave the executives goosebumps. For a moment, they almost thought he was talking to his daughter.
"I understand. I have a competition on Wednesday, and Sabrina and the others are arriving today. I need to stay at the hotel for a couple of days. I already told Liliana I'll be there tonight," Allison said.
Alexander's brow furrowed, and his demeanor turned icy. The executives shrank back, feeling the sudden chill.

"No, you can't stay at the hotel. Don't forget, you're still recovering. Come home right after school. I'll call James," Alexander refused sternly.
Allison rubbed her forehead. Alexander's overbearing nature could be quite challenging.
"Alexander, I need to work on the proposal with Sabrina. It's important! Besides, I'll be at the Shaw family's hotel. I'll be fine," Allison said.
Alexander wanted to curse but held back, mindful of the people around him. He had to maintain his image.
"I don't care. If you insist, you can forget about the competition," Alexander said, then hung up.
Allison sighed in frustration.
Alexander's face was dark as he tossed his phone onto the table. The executives sat up straighter, sensing trouble. If Alexander and his fiancée were fighting, they were likely to bear the brunt of his anger.
Sure enough, before they could brace themselves, Alexander started yelling, "You call yourselves educated? All you do is argue! How many times have we gone over this proposal? If you can't get it right, you're all fired! I'm not paying you to bicker. Finalize this today, or you'll all stay late until I'm satisfied!"
The group left the conference room, heads hanging in frustration. The entire Carter Group was under a dark cloud. Allison's influence was indeed powerful.
Allison hung up the phone and sighed, then looked at James in the passenger seat. "James, has Alexander always been this overbearing?" Allison asked.
James bit his lip. How was he supposed to answer that?
What do you think?
