The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 171 Booking the Whole Floor

"Mr. Carter's just worried about you. You haven't fully bounced back yet!" James said.

Allison nodded, getting where Alexander was coming from. But she wasn't one to be babied. She'd been doing things on her own for ages and could handle herself just fine.

Her independence, though, made Alexander feel a bit left out, maybe even a little defeated.

"But he's so overbearing. It makes me feel trapped, and I hate feeling like I'm in a cage!" Allison said, hopping out of the car and heading into the school.

James quickly whipped out his phone and texted Alexander, word for word what Allison had said.

Alexander was so mad he almost smashed his phone.

But he cooled down soon enough, realizing Allison hated being controlled. She'd rather rebel than comply. It was partly because she was strong enough to stand on her own and partly because of her past.

With that in mind, Alexander got up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, staring out at the tall buildings. He started to get what Allison meant by feeling caged.

He then called Hunter. "Get the presidential suite at the top of the Sapphire Sky Hotel ready for me. I need it."

Hunter was shocked, jumping out of his chair. "The presidential suite? Did I hear that right, Alexander? Are you planning to keep a woman there?"

Alexander sneered, "Do I need to explain my plans to you? Get it ready, and clear out all the rooms on that floor. I don't want to be disturbed."

Hunter took a deep breath. Something felt off about this. "Consider it done."

It had been a while since Hunter had seen Allison, so he wasn't sure how things were going between her and Alexander.

But according to Mia, they were doing well and had even announced their engagement.

So Hunter found Alexander's behavior pretty confusing.

Feeling unsure, Hunter called Declan, who was thrilled to hear that Alexander had

booked an entire floor and immediately called Alexander.

"Hey, Alexander, I heard you're booking a whole floor to keep a woman?" Declan's tone was gleefully mocking.noveldrama

Alexander sipped his coffee, not bothered by Declan's teasing. "At least I have a woman to keep. What about you? How dare you laugh at me? You must be too idle. I've already prepared the bankruptcy statement; it's being released as we speak. Mr. Walker, your storm is coming!"

Declan had indeed been in hot water lately. His company had messed up a foreign order, resulting in over $800 million in penalties. Somehow, the news had leaked, causing his company's stock to plummet.

The board was livid, having held two emergency meetings in just three days, but the stock kept tanking.

Today, another board meeting was called. Declan strolled into the room casually after hanging up the phone.

"Mr. Walker, you need to explain yourself. The stock has dropped 30%. At this rate, we'll go bankrupt. We need to hold someone accountable today!" the shareholders demanded, glaring at Declan.

Oliver, the vice president, was there too, secretly thrilled. It looked like Declan was going to get the boot today.

"Even though this mess started with a deal Oliver signed, I take full responsibility. So, I'm stepping down as CEO. You can find someone better to take over," Declan said.

His words caused an uproar in the room.

"I think Mr. Oliver Walker should be the new CEO. He's a Walker and has just come back from abroad with impressive credentials."

"Are you serious? This disaster is his fault. You want to make this fool CEO?"

"Who are you calling a fool? Mr. Oliver Walker is the most capable Walker. He should be CEO!"

The room erupted into fierce arguments.

Seeing Declan stay calm, Oliver felt even more triumphant.

Declan had always been like this, carefree and seemingly indifferent, yet he had inherited the Walker family business. Now, Oliver finally had the chance to oust him.

"Everyone, let me say something. The deal with the Hall family was indeed my doing. Although the timeline is tight, it's a rare opportunity. The Hall family is one of the wealthiest in the world, and they've never ventured into Novaria before. This order is their way of testing us," Oliver said.

Despite his overseas education, Oliver mostly relied on cunning rather than genuine insight.

"You're right. If we deliver on time, our relationship with the Hall family will strengthen, boosting our stock. But can we meet their high standards?"

Oliver had anticipated this. "Rest assured, I've secured several quality subcontractors. As long as we have the materials, we can deliver on time."

Seeing Oliver's confidence, the shareholders leaned towards him. A vote was taken, and Declan was removed as CEO, leaving the company in disgrace.

Oliver was ecstatic, having finally ousted Declan.

"Mr. Oliver Walker, we're counting on you to turn things around. Don't let us down!" "Don't worry, I won't!" Oliver said smugly.

Then, a major news story broke: Declan's Oceanview Group had declared bankruptcy.

Oceanview Group was a top-tier tech company, known for producing high-end components, including parts for aircraft. Its sudden bankruptcy sent shockwaves through the financial world.
