Chapter 649 A Marriage in Vain
When they got home, it was already afternoon. Shawn pulled Molly aside and talked to her privately for a long time.
After the guests left, only the two families remained together.
Sebastian was still wearing his groom's suit. He held Theodore and affectionately pinched the little guy's cheek, "Did you see me get married today?"
Theodore pouted, clearly not pleased.
Vera answered for Theodore, "How could he have seen it? Noah took him out to play like a toy."
The joy of marriage was a beautiful moment that Patrick and Vera had once missed.
Today, Sebastian was more approachable than usual, smiling more and being more agreeable.
Patrick had something on his mind, always balancing it. He wouldn't speak to outsiders until he had figured it out.
The place was filled with flowers, and just these flowers alone had cost a fortune, at least tens of thousands of them.
Susan had long wanted to steal some flowers. She felt embarrassed to do it alone, so she dragged Randall along.
Susan was quite clever, pulling out a flower and stuffing it into Randall's hand, then pulling out another and stuffing it into Randall's hand again, and so on...
When Molly came out, she saw Randall holding a large bouquet of roses and Susan, who was caught in the act, frozen in place.
"Molly, you've already gotten married. You don't need these flowers, right?" Susan asked awkwardly, looking at Molly.
Randall chimed in, "Of course, she doesn't need them. Is she going to save them for a second wedding?"
Molly had just been lectured by Shawn about being calm, mature, gentle, and independent, not relying on men, and always maintaining her independence and beauty as a woman.
But within three seconds of coming out, Molly, in her high heels, wanted to kill Randall.
"I'm saving these flowers for Susan and her partner's wedding. Only Susan and her partner deserve them. Get your dirty hands off my flowers."
Molly and Randall started arguing.
Shawn watched the two of them and said leisurely, "Everything I just said was in vain."
Ellie and Timothy were used to it. They watched Molly bully Randall, just like Warren and Brianna, pretending not to see. After all these years, if their words had any effect, it wouldn't have lasted this long.
The most indifferent ones were Cindy and Vincent.
Theodore twisted his little face, trying hard to look back at the lively group.
Around four in the afternoon, everyone left.
At the end of March, the weather was nice. Patrick planned to take Vera and Theodore to a suburban park to see the peach and cherry blossoms, as they would bloom simultaneously.
Susan had to go to the hotel to accompany her parents, and Randall drove her there.
The rest of the Olteran family didn't want to go home, so they followed Patrick's car to the park.
Molly also wanted to go, but she was too hungry. Getting married was not only exhausting but also made her very hungry.
Later, Sebastian promised her, "I have a few days off after the wedding. I'll take you out to have fun."
Molly immediately went home to eat.
Molly didn't even remove her makeup. She went upstairs in a daze, and under Sebastian's watchful eye, she instinctively pushed open her old bedroom door, a habit
she had developed over the past decade.
Sebastian thought to himself, that this marriage was in vain.
However, he wasn't in a hurry. He let her catch up on sleep during the day.
Sebastian was called to the living room by Ellie and Timothy. They said, "Sebastian, you know Molly's temperament better than we do."
Sebastian nodded. Indeed, he was the one who knew her best in the Chase family.
"Remember, you insisted on marrying Molly. You must protect her for life. If you ever hurt her, don't ever come back to our house."
Zoey looked at the serious Ellie and felt a bit sorry for Sebastian. After all, he was their son. "Ellie, Sebastian is not the type to hurt Molly. Besides, look at Molly. Does she seem like someone who would be bullied?"
Ellie replied, "Even though she wouldn't, some harsh words need to be said upfront."
The Chase family had also been busy all day and were already tired. After a brief conversation, they all went back to their rooms.
Only Sebastian didn't go to the wedding room. Instead, he went directly to Molly's bedroom, sat on the bed, leaned against the headboard, and looked down at Molly, whom he had married through all kinds of schemes, even coercion and bribery.
At first, Sebastian hadn't thought about marrying Molly. At least, not until she grew up. He had always treated her like a little sister.
Outsiders who saw them would say that Sebastian was overly protective of Molly and that he was too controlling. Outside, Molly often complained about his strictness. "He doesn't let me date, doesn't let me wear skirts to school, and whenever a boy gives me a birthday gift, Sebastian interrogates me for a long time. My parents don't even control me that much."
Later, Sebastian went to college.
A roommate jokingly asked him, "Sebastian, I have a sister too, and we fight all the time. Your control over your sister seems to go beyond sibling affection."
When one person said this, the other roommates chimed in, "My wife received a gift from her brother the other day, and I thought it was from some guy. I questioned her for a long time."
That day, Sebastian sat alone in a chair, dazed for an entire afternoon.
Later, when someone made that joke again, he got angry in the dorm, and no one dared to bring it up again.
Somehow, a saying started circulating in the school: If you want to pursue Sebastian, you should first win over his sister Molly.
As a result, wherever Molly appeared, Sebastian was always by her side.
In the bedroom, Sebastian's hand gently rested on Molly's head. He leaned against the wall and took a short nap.
In the park, the family of three strolled leisurely. When they passed a beautiful spot, Vera held Theodore and took pictures. But Theodore loved flowers so much that he kept looking up at the flowers above him, even wanting to reach out and grab them. Shawn also took pictures with Theodore. There were few frontal shots of Theodore, mostly him looking up, raising his hand, and looking at the flowers.
Later, they took Theodore to the center of the park lake to ride a boat. Theodore looked down at the water, a few months old, lost in thought.
"Theodore, are you thinking of turning into a fish and jumping in for a swim?" Vera asked Theodore.
Shawn leaned back on the boat seat, his cane beside him, and closed his eyes contentedly, saying, "All the big events in my family are done."
Molly, Patrick, and Vincent were all married, had found their places, and had their own small families.
"What's the next goal?" Shawn interlaced his fingers, placed them on his belly, and twirled his thumbs.
Vera replied, "What else? Becoming a great-grandfather."
Shawn suddenly opened his eyes and looked at Vera and Cindy, "I want a granddaughter."noveldrama
Cindy glanced at Vincent, "Dad, I'm too old for that. You should count on Vera."
Vera pouted, "I can't help you either. You should count on your grandson."
Shawn said to himself, "Randall, he can't be counted on either. He can't even handle Susan."
Everyone knew that if Randall asked Susan, she would never refuse.
What do you think?
