After a long while, he looked up at Matthew and said, "Mr. Grant, this Juprus Ring holds great significance. Are you sure you want to use it to kill Horace?"

Even Brad changed the way he spoke and used honorifics with Matthew when he saw the ring.

Matthew replied without a single moment of hesitation, "That's right. I'm going to use the Juprus Ring to kill Horace!"

Upon hearing that, Brad stared at Matthew with a trace of doubt. "Mr. Grant, this ring alone isn't enough if you want to kill Horace!"

Matthew had always been oblivious to the Juprus Ring's history, so when he heard what Brad said, he immediately asked, "Why not?"

Matthew knew it was a little suspicious for him to not know the history of the Juprus Ring as its owner, but this was the only token Nicholas had left for him, so Brad had gone a little far by saying that.

Matthew couldn't bear it and refuted, "Why don't you randomly pick up another Juprus Ring for me, then?"

Listening to what Brad had said, Matthew was shocked. So, the reason Nicholas had gone into hiding was because something had happened.

He wanted to ask more about what had happened, but Brad mentioned that he had no right to know of it—who knew if Brad was telling the truth too?

"Then are we just gonna let Horace off like this?"

Brad shook his head and replied, "I wouldn't say that we're letting him off-it's up to the bigshots to decide how they feel about this issue and how they would deal with it.

"What do you mean by that?"

Just then, Brad let out a helpless expression and sighed as he said "You might not realize it, but his connections are tangled deep within, and the situation's far more complicated to deal with.

Matthew was put off by how secretive Brad was being and said, "Who are those people? What are you trying to say?"

After a bout of silence, Brad said, "I only know a little about them, but I've heard that they're the reason the Juprus' previous generation went into hiding."

As soon as he finished speaking, his phone rang. Brad then said, "Wait for a bit. I have to take this call."

Matthew hummed in agreement and sat by the side as he waited. Once Brad had answered the call, he let out a sudden shout after having heard a few words.

"What? Horace was rescued? Who were they? What do they do for a living?"

Matthew was shocked when he heard that. Horace was his sworn enemy, so if he were to let Horace go, it would be equal to releasing a tiger back into its mountain.

Brad was seething with anger and cursed back in reply before he hung up the call. He then looked at Matthew and said, "I'm sorry. I... I never thought this would happen."

Matthew glared at Brad with much fury and said, "You think apologizing would do you any good? You shouldn't have tried to stop me!"
