Chapter 383 Sophia's Identity Revealed
Sophia looked at him coldly. "Mr. Cross, I think what you should be concerned about
right now is not me, but Melanie. She has been taken away by the police for repeatedly trying to kill me to get to you. She likes you so much, you should go check on her."
After saying that, she maneuvered her wheelchair to leave, but Alexander blocked her way. "What did you say? How could Melanie be taken away by the police?"
Seeing his incredulous expression, Sophia smiled mockingly. "Yeah, she's so gentle and kind, and she's a doctor. How could she possibly harm me? It must be that I'm petty and wanted to get back at her, so I framed her. Is that what you want to say, Mr. Cross?"
Alexander, hearing her sarcastic tone, gritted his teeth in anger. "So you pretended to be mute just to get her to leave evidence of her crimes?"
"What else could I do? She tampered with my harness and my medication. Even when I was mute, she wouldn't let me go and wanted me to fall to my death. Do you think I'm someone who lets others bully me?"
Alexander had never suspected Melanie because he had investigated the harness incident and found no connection to her.
He always thought that Melanie, being well-educated, wouldn't break the law for a man. He never expected her to be so ruthless.
His gaze became complicated as he looked at Sophia, and his voice softened considerably. "I didn't know she was like that, Sophia. I never intended to cover for her, and I was never with her. You have to believe me."
Sophia slowly lifted her eyes to look at him, her bright eyes showing no emotion. She said, "Does it matter to me whether you were with her or not? And does it matter if I believe you, Mr. Cross? Don't forget, we have nothing to do with each other now."
Seeing her sharp tongue return, Alexander chuckled softly. He gently patted her head. "You're still as sharp-tongued as ever. If it weren't for all these people around, I'd really want to kiss you to death."
Sophia glared at him coldly. "You wouldn't dare!"
"If you keep talking back, you'll see if I dare or not."
One sentence was enough to make Sophia shut up immediately. She knew Alexander was capable of anything. She had just won an award and didn't want to be caught in a scandal so soon.
Sophia looked at Alexander calmly. "I have things to do. Can you please move aside?" Alexander chuckled. "Where do you want to go? I'll take you."
"I have a driver. No need to trouble you."
"Either I take you, or I kiss you in front of everyone. Your choice."
Seeing reporters running towards them, Sophia immediately compromised. "You can take me."
Alexander smirked and nodded at Betsy. "You take that car. I'll take care of her." Betsy smiled and replied, "Okay, Mr. Cross. Sophia is going to the Holiday Inn to celebrate with her family and friends. You can take her there directly."
Alexander nodded lightly and pushed Sophia's wheelchair towards the car.
As soon as they got in the car, his phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, he frowned and hesitated for a few seconds before answering.
Gilbert's angry voice came from the other end. "Where did you go? Didn't I tell you we have dinner with Mr. Sinclair and his family tonight? Where are you?"

Alexander reluctantly replied, "I've already broken off the engagement with their family. Do you think it's appropriate for me to have dinner with them? What if they try to marry their daughter? What should I do then?"
Gilbert snorted coldly, "You've never met their daughter. She's going tonight. What if you like her? This is a concern for Mr. Sinclair. He's been worried sick about it."
"Don't say that. I can't take that responsibility. If their daughter can't find a partner, I can help her find a boyfriend. Why do you keep focusing on me?"
After saying that, Alexander hung up the phone. He looked down to see Sophia clenching her fists, glaring at him with a dark expression.
Alexander smiled and pinched her cheek. "You get so angry when you hear about my ex-fiancée. Sophia, you still like me."
Sophia turned her face away and sneered, "I don't like you at all!"
Alexander chuckled, "Don't be mad. I have nothing to do with her anymore. It's her grandfather who keeps trying to marry her off to me. Everyone falls in love freely now. I'll find a few good men for her so they stop bothering me. Don't worry, even if I stay a bachelor for life, I won't marry her."
The more he spoke, the colder Sophia's eyes became.
Seeing her like this, Alexander got even more excited. He thought Sophia was jealous and that was why she was so angry. He smiled and ruffled her hair, "Alright, don't be mad. I only like you in this lifetime. Isn't that enough?"
Sophia sneered, "Should I thank you for liking me then?"
"No need to thank me. When you get better, you can repay me with your body."

After saying that, he started the car and drove towards the designated hotel.
As soon as they got out of the car, they saw Dean and Gilbert waiting at the hotel entrance. Alexander's heart skipped a beat. He thought, 'Could it be such a coincidence? Are they having dinner here too?'
He immediately turned to Sophia and said, "Wait here. I'll be right back."
After saying that, he quickly walked towards Gilbert.
Seeing them together, Gilbert beamed with joy. "You were acting all arrogant, saying you wouldn't come, but here you are. I think you and the Sinclair girl make a good match."
Alexander immediately explained, "Mr. Sinclair, I need to make this clear today. I don't like your granddaughter. I've found her annoying since we were kids. I can't agree to marry her. This is the last time I'll say this. Please don't force me anymore."noveldrama
Dean looked at him, then at Sophia behind him, and smiled. "These are your own words. I didn't force you. Are you sure you don't want my granddaughter?" Alexander had never been so serious. "I'm very sure. I don't like her and won't marry her. Please don't make things difficult for me."
Gilbert angrily kicked him. "If you don't like her, why did you lead her on?" Alexander replied, "I didn't."
Dean patted Gilbert's shoulder meaningfully. "Gilbert, I see it clearly now. Alexander doesn't like my granddaughter. I won't force it anymore. This engagement is off. I won't bring it up again."
After saying that, he walked towards Sophia and said with excitement, "Sophia, my dear grandguagter, you make me so proud. You actually won an award. Come, let me see your trophy."
