When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 114

Josephine felt like she had never been this embarrassed in her entire life. But after thinking it over, she reminded herself-she was Ethan's director. Technically speaking, that made her his boss. And what was there to be embarrassed about when a boss saw their subordinate? She was in charge here!

Bolstering her confidence, she lifted her head and purposely touched the waxed top of her head. "My look is pretty special, isn't it?"

To her surprise, Ethan didn't make fun of her. Instead, he looked at her with a hint of sympathy. "I'm going with you tonight."

"You're coming with me? Why?"

"Morgan had something come up. Besides, he wasn't confident he could protect you in that kind of setting. So, I volunteered, and he agreed."

That idiot. If he had told her earlier, she wouldn't have gone through all this trouble with her disguise! Even though she wasn't sure why she trusted him so much, knowing Ethan would be there made her feel a lot more relaxed.

"In that case, I'll go change."

Josephine was about to head upstairs when Ethan grabbed her wrist-briefly, just for a second-before letting go. "It takes at least 40 minutes to get to the

Boathouse, and it's already 7:30 pm. Do you want to be late?"

Considering how important Matthew was, she definitely couldn't be late. Josephine pointed to her nose. "So, what? You expect me to go looking like this?"

Ethan chuckled. "Weren't you planning to go like this anyway?"

Well, yes. But that was when she was going with Morgan! The thought of walking next to someone as impeccably handsome as Ethan while looking like this made her incredibly uncomfortable. But there was no time to change. As much as she hated it, she grabbed her bag and followed him out.

George was already waiting by the car. The moment he saw them, he blinked in confusion. "Where's Ms. Dunn? Is she not coming?"

Josephine's eye twitched. "I'm right here!"

"Wha... oh!" George smacked his forehead in mock realization before promptly snorting with laughter. He then hastily opened the car door. Ethan shook his head with an

recognize me. You did that on purpose!"

George chuckled. "Of course not! I wouldn't dare! Now, hurry up, Ms. Dunn. We're on a tight schedule. I might have to speed a little."

He wasn't wrong—time was tight. Josephine gave him one last glare before getting into the car beside Ethan. The moment she sat down, a familiar scent drifted toward her-the faint, calming fragrance of white tea. Curious, she asked, "Is this the only kind of cologne you wear?"

Ethan was about to answer when George beat him to it. "Mr. Dane never wears cologne. That tea scent is from his laundry detergent. And before you ask, no, you can't buy it anywhere. He had it custom-made in a lab-completely one of a kind."

So, that's how it was. First, he got his glasses made at a research institute. Now, even his laundry detergent was custom-formulated.

Josephine blinked. "Wouldn't that be considered misusing resources for personal gain?"

Ethan gave her a small smile. "I paid for it. If you're willing to spend the money, they'd make some for you too."

Liar. Even if she was willing to spend the money, she doubted it was that simple. Did he think she was that gullible?
