George's driving skills were nothing short of impressive. What was supposed to be a 40-minute drive only took him about 25 minutes, and they made it just in time.

Josephine had assumed the Boathouse was just a regular restaurant, but when the car came to a stop, she found herself by a riverbank instead. It turned out the Boathouse was a floating restaurant.

As they walked across the narrow bridge leading to the entrance, they instantly became the center of attention.

Josephine nearly choked. She was his boss! But of course, none of that mattered when one had a face like Ethan's.

Josephine felt frustrated but had no choice but to look up at Ethan. She had to admit, he did look particularly handsome that night. Dressed in a long black coat over a fitted turtleneck, his outfit was simple yet effortlessly elegant.

He carried an air of quiet restraint, cold and distant like freshly fallen snow. And with his wire-rimmed glasses subtly concealing his sharp gaze, the chill in his eyes only made him seem even more untouchable.

No wonder those girls were losing their minds over him. If she were a few years younger, back at 18 or 19, she'd probably be just as smitten. After all, she had always been a sucker for a pretty face.

This man was Matthew Frye. He walked up to Josephine and shook her hand politely. "I've heard so much about you, Ms. Dunn!"

Josephine winced at the strength of his handshake but forced a polite smile. "Mr. Frye, you flatter me. I'm just a new director, and this is my first time back to further my career in my home country. There's still so much I don't know. I'd be grateful for any guidance."

"There's no need to be so polite! You're back home now, and here, you're family. Whatever you need, just let us know-we've got your back! Now, let me introduce you to everyone." With a cigar tucked between his fingers, he led her around the table, introducing each guest in turn.

"This here is Charles Wilson from the Cultural Bureau."

"And this is Mr. Smith from the Film Association."

"And over here, we have Mr. Lopez from the National Television Administration!"

That was when she realized Matthew wasn't the only heavyweight in the room. The entire table was packed with powerhouses. From government regulators to production moguls, every single one of them held serious influence over the industry.

And that only made her more uneasy. She barely knew Matthew. So, why was he going out of his way to introduce her to all these connections of his? What did he really want?

Once the introductions were over, Josephine wasted no time pulling Ethan into the conversation. He had been standing quietly at her side, largely ignored. "This is Ethan," she said. "The lead actor in my new film."

"Oh." Matthew glanced at Ethan, his expression apathetic and uninterested. The rest of the room barely acknowledged him, not even offering a handshake.

Josephine frowned slightly. Just as she was about to say something on his behalf, Ethan gently patted her hand, signaling her to let it go. Then, stepping forward, he smiled and said, "Besides being the lead actor in Ms. Dunn's new film, I'm also the founder of GrainWave Tech. I look forward to working with all of you. Here's my business card."
